Jack and Jill Politics: 50 Shots=Not Guilty

  • rikyrah · 1 year ago
Thank you dnA. I just want someone to point to me where a WHITE PERSON has been through this same thing at the hands of BLACK COPS.

Just show me the case in A-merry-ca.

    Just show it to me.
  • Jack Turner · 1 year ago
my dear dnA and rickyrah. have you not seen the latest NYPD manual? It clearly states that black people are made of kevlar.

Is there a way to combine the two threads on this topic? Might make for easier commenting (and then I won't have to post what I said on the other one here....)....
  • Mike Belgrove · 1 year ago
We been covering Sean Bell's case over at Highbrid Nation from the start and when I read today that the police officers were acquitted I was in serious disbelief. An unarmed man was shot 50 times and the people who did it are not responsible at all!? That's crazy.

yep, and that vhuc fin quote is on point. i used to use it when teaching my psychology classes

Is this enough for Black folks to be bitter?
  • Wanda · 1 year ago
I don't think anybody in thier hearts was surprised at the verdict. it's a shame for that man and his family.
  • amy · 1 year ago
i would be very interested to hear obama and clinton respond to the acquittal...clinton as NYs senator and obama who is trying to walk the line between advocating reconciling the disparity in the "just-us system" and not being seen as too extreme.

    Where ya at Hillary?
Whatcha got to say about this Hillary?

    Where ya at Obama?

Whatcha got to say about this Obama?

  • N. Mahana · 1 year ago
Preach! However I'm not surprised, first we have black on black gang related violence now black police officers are being trained to kill other blacks...and black celebrities making videos like "Abortion Man" turning the beating of a pregnant black woman and abortion comedic fodder.

Is this the road we are going down? We need a flood of mental health therapy in the Black community because we have some serious post traumatic stress issues.
  • Ms.Martin · 1 year ago
It's not over. There is a chance that the federal government will take up this case and if all else fails, surely a civil court will find against these trigger happy gansters with badges.
  • Christopher Chambers · 1 year ago
You all need to come down to earth, because for every Sean bell there are dozens of OUR people raped, shot, turned out, abused, sold drugs to by OUR people. The cops are trigger happy--hell yes given the bull that's out there. Yeah, they scare me. But I DON"T blame them. Look at Chicago, where these same so called racist cops have to escort OUR little children to school to protect them from OUR people. And our rappers keep up the cartoon versions of this crap.

"Trigger happy gangsters," ms martin? Before you erect statues to Sean bell and a victim, you need to go hardcore on the real gangsters out there who spill so many other victims NO ONE in these blogs seems to enumerate and mourn with such righteous fervor.

And if a black cop caps me coming home from McDonalds, my ghosts will go haunt the thugs in da club, not the policeman's ball.

Rant and rave on me all you want. You know goddamn well this is a bitch of the other side of the story...
  • Morgaine · 1 year ago
I'm ashamed of this. There is nothing a car full of three unarmed men could have done to warrant this level of force. Somehow, they have to be held accountable, though nothing will make this family whole again. Law enforcement is out of control, and this kind of thing has to stop. No one with this little courage or control should be wearing a badge, let alone carrying a weapon.
  • Ms.Martin · 1 year ago
    Christopher Chambers:

50 shots - AYFKM! They are gangsters - gangsters in uniform with badges - the worst kind of gangsters.
  • Ms.Martin · 1 year ago
".......Detective Oliver — who reloaded his gun to fire a total of 31 shots."

He reloaded so he could continuing shooting at a car with unarmed people inside.

    Christopher Chambers

So what if the police massacre innoncent black people so long as they keep you safe.
  • Sophie · 1 year ago
There are good police officers and there are bad ones. I appreciate the efforts of the good ones, but the bad ones can't be allowed to get away with misconduct. The bad officers can be worse than the street thugs, because they get even more of a pass to do as they please.

The bad officers make it more and more difficult for the good officers to do their jobs. This in turn makes it easier for the criminals. There is already this "Stop Snitching" culture prevalent in the urban community, and cases like Sean Bell's will only add to the distrust people have for police.
  • Plantsmantx · 1 year ago
Don't be so surprised by Chambers. On his own blog, he's expressed the desire to go vigilante, and murder... I don't know, I guess young blacks guys who look like "ganstas". He didn't mention anything about limiting himself to people who are observed in the commission of a crime. Oh, and I shouldn't have given the impression that he said HE would pick up a gun and go out to murder people he didn't like the looks of, so I guess he's the ghetto version of a chickenhawk- he's big and bold enough to talk about some OTHER people "cleansing" Black America, but he's too much of a snivelling, cowardly, punk ass sissy to threaten or even think about doing it himself...except maybe in his fantasies.

Rev. Wright and his words in context. Well worth all 60 minutes:

    http://www.pbs.org/moyers/journal/04252008/watch.html

It's too bad CNN/MSNBC/the networks didn't chose to do this. They would rather play soundbites and snipets.
  • Christopher Chambers · 1 year ago
Is Plantsmantx is too much of snivelling sissy ass to even reveal him/herself to me or anyone. What kind of an alias is plantsmantx? Anyhow, back on Earth...perhaps Plantsmantx could affix his/her laser analysis on why Guzman's testimony basically torpedoed the prosecution case...and the nature of the strip club they attended: a magnet for all kinds of crap in a community. All that in context and is it a wonder what the judge decided?

But that leaves us to the children in Chicago...or in Philly, where we are shooting each other more efficiently than Sunni and Shiia. What killed Sean Bell is the same monster as what kills these children. And apparently it's fed by mindless fools who don't want to see the connection. I thought it was Hillary or the Republicans who purveyed ideology and anti-rationalism (no, plantmantx, anit-rationalism and "irrational" are not the same thing). You are just the flip side of the nilhilsim and "stop snitching." You are not the solution. And now we see that clearly. Well...we don't see your identity clearly. But we see who you are. Again, two different things...
  • Lee Coles · 1 year ago
The words "I saw a gun (or knife) in a police report have convinced many an internal affairs department, and in several cases, judges.

Wonder if a jury would have made a difference?
  • Plantsmantx · 1 year ago
Does everybody notice that he doesn't deny putting up that blog post? The deflection doesn't disguise that fact.
  • Craig Hickman · 1 year ago
I'm sure Obama will be the first (an only) candidate asked about this at a town meeting or by the press.
  • Christopher Chambers · 1 year ago
Does anybody notice you're (Plantsmantx?) still hiding behind that stupid alias? Ha!

Now, back (again) to Earth-- indeed, will Obama say about this stuff? He's already answered and sought solutions re: the bloody mess in Chicago (his home); I'd just turn it around and say that's up to Hillary. She's the senator from NY. However as we all know she has ceded the black vote anyway, and Bill is seldom seen around Harlem if only to pay off the greedy pastors and community "leaders" whose skids the Clintons have greased, so she'll just say "The court has spoken," and now Barack has TWO Reverends to be drilled over: Wright and Sharpton. If he quit smoking, he'll be back to it very soon...

Oh and Plantmantx (that name is making me laugh and I'm in the middle of the Pittsburgh Airport about to loose my wi fi signal), if you want to be accurate, go to my blog post today. But I'm sure, like so many loudmouths, accuracy is subordinate to sounding righteous and sounding sure...and sounding the "party" line.
  • Plantsmantx · 1 year ago
Go to your blogpost for what? I'm talking about a completely different post from some months ago, and I see you're still opting to talk about unrelated things and poke juvenile fun (how old are you?) at a screename rather than deny the truth of what I said. Why is that? If you didn't call for (somebody else) to carry out vigilante murders, then deny it.

Tell us, how will you determine who gets murdered? Murdered by the people other than yourself you want to do the murdering, that is. Would they have to be observed comitting crimes? Which crimes? Will you...damn, sorry...will the people other than yourself who you want to do the murdering take the word of trusted informants? Or will they just kill anyone whose pants sag below a certain number of inches?
  • Anonymous · 1 year ago
Bill Clinton would have pardoned these people anyway...the Clintons are the new KKK of the Democratic party.
  • Anonymous · 1 year ago
here is the perfect reason to give up cellphones, pockets, and the right to exist. You could be target practice for someone who beleives that to "subdue"you, you have to be mown down in a hail of bullets-and be protected by our judicial system. Time to change the system that says those who are paid to protect are ALWAYS right-how do they continue to have the public trust when cold-blooded murder is preferred over desecration of a human being's life??
  • Ochyming · 1 year ago
THIS will happen again. And all you do is pointing fingers and calling names.
Instead of better parenting and SHIELDING the young people against the stigma.

Stop looking at others, just not the ones to protect.

I understand the police brute force, but the verdict is away unacceptable.
  • Torrance Stephens bka All-Mi-T · 1 year ago
    again:

n chapter, thirty-two of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn there is a boating accident. Huck's Aunt Sally asks if anyone was hurt. Huck then replied, "No'm. Killed a nigger" (Twain, 213). Aunt Sally then said, "Well, its lucky; because sometimes people do get hurt"(Twain, 213).

    So, true.

How Europeans [Europe's descendants] used to SEE Asians, HOW they fear them now?

People...we need to stand up and push back hard.

I just saw Rev. Wright speak on CNN and he was brilliant. Already some in the right wing and probably in the Hillary camp are trying to distort his words again, even though he said nothing controversial.

Wright's speech was magnificent, and there should not be any doubt that this is a speech that all people would do well to hear and try to learn from.
