Jack and Jill Politics: $52 Million In June

  • Afroamerica Writer · 1 year ago
I saw this news today. The average contribution to Obama's campaign is $62. A drop of almost $30 from many months ago - blame it on the economy's state.

That should shut the "his donations have dried up" crowd up or Hillary's People attempting to blackmail him in making her VP before they'll give up the cash.

    From Daily Kos-

According to a solicitation sent by the McCain camp, for the low, low price of $5,000, you can play a round of golf at Cape Arundel Golf Course, Bush’s home course.

"Both President Bush and Governor Jeb Bush will be stopping by to greet the foursomes," the missive promises. "The course is reserved for this private group, and VIPs will be visiting during your round of golf. This event is a great way to end a weekend getaway, and we would be honored if you can attend."

I thought Bush 'sacrificed' golf in honor of the war dead. He lied? :O

Although its been in "nickels and dimes," this is the 1st time I've contributed (repeatedly) to any presidential candidates' campaign. I'm really happy to see that my small contributions are part of a VERY large pot.

Let me see what other change I can dig up...

That $72 million COMBINED number is incorrect. That's Obama's total from June + cash on hand. The DNC has another $22 million which means with Obama and the DNC combined he has $92 million, not $72 million.. Plouffe's correction can be found at the bottom of the page the letter is posted to on the website.
  • eclecticbrotha · 1 year ago
Here's the correction from the website:

"Correction: $72 million is Obama for America's cash on hand only. This number does not include the DNC's cash on hand."

Oh lord. Bundlers--ever heard of em? That's where Obama gets his big bucks. Investment bankers, trial attorneys, you name it. Nothing against em, but Obama's no saint (see his record of collecting money from Chicago-based pharma and energy company lobbyists). But the biggest problem: the campaign finance stab in the back. Damn, he should have taken the money and let the funds flow to the DNC instead. I'm so disgusted that I'm going for McKinney...

McKinney...she could pick Whoopi, if she didn't already have a running mate.
