I don't know what to say ... tragic loss of life and limb all the way around.

This WILL be politicized. And WE will be the face of it.
  • Guns3000 · 1 month ago
    Who is "WE?"
  • CraigHickman · 1 month ago
The man's name was actually Nidal Malik Hasan.

    Stupidass media.
  • CraigHickman · 1 month ago
    Malik Nadal Hasan.

So that will automatically make this a terrorist attack even if it wasn't.

    Here. We. Go.

    I know.

President Obama is always considered to be a sleeper Muslim. Now here's one in the Armed Services. Riiiight...
  • lamh32 · 1 month ago
Okay, why is Tweety quoting some things from Senator KB Hutch, is she supposed to be doing that? Tweety said according to KBH, the "shooter" was soont o be deployed to Iraq and was not happy about it. Now he has a "FBI profiler" on who actually said that this sounds like someone who "maybe has some family history in the Muslim world". Here we go, dude don't have no way of knowing that, but he's putting that out there already?
  • lamh32 · 1 month ago
Anyone else not quite comfortable with the idea that the shooter's "family members" are giving information to the MSM. I just don't beleive that if somethign like this was perpertrated by a member of my family, I just can't see anyone of us speaking to the press so soon?
  • djchefron · 1 month ago
That is kind of weird.I mean ,usually family close the doors on reporters and have no comment.
  • CraigHickman · 1 month ago
I turned off the TV. What are these "family members" saying?
  • lamh32 · 1 month ago
that he had "always been a muslim", that talked about not wanting to be deployed, and that they "just heard" that he was being deployed, but officials say that the shooter knew about the deployements at least months before.

How can people be sure that these people are REALLY family members of the shooter?
  • CraigHickman · 1 month ago
They can't. But they prop them up anyway.

    Journalism is dead.

  • WordSmith · 1 month ago
I've been thinking about this. Anything could have happened; we wouldn't know. The story will be whittled into the "official version."

There's this kind of disconnect between the man and the event. It doesn't "match up."

Something is not adding up.If he was the lone gunmen with 2 civilian pistols which has at a maximum of 32 shots and 43 people was shot and he didn't reload, well he was one crackshot.BTW he was a muslim.SHM
  • CraigHickman · 1 month ago
There's a whole lot about this shooting that isn't adding up.
  • WordSmith · 1 month ago
Exactly. Do physicians even HAVE to qualify for weapons?
  • Guns3000 · 1 month ago
dj, I don't know what your experience is in weaponry but how do know he didn't reload? If he has been in the military 10 years he had substantial training with firearms and that type of accuracy in a contained area is far from an impossibility. Where are you getting "maximum of 32 shots" from? Pistols can be me modified to have extended clips. I'm sure he had loaded clips ready to load if needed. And if had two pistols it can easily take approx 3 seconds to reload if that. I know it. I go the gun range all the time. Some of these gun fanatics can do some things with weapons that will make your jaw drop. One last thing, you don't know the type of ammo he was using. If he had access to hollow tips or other military type of ammunition these kill rates would be expected.
  • djchefron · 1 month ago
Reports were that he didn't reload. Now he was a doctor so does he fit a profile of a gun lover who knows how to modify pistols?I dont know but I doubt it.Show me the records on where he practice marksmanship because as a doctor he didn't go to the range every week. And he supposedly shot 43 people with two pistols, now I haven't been to Ft.Hood but everywhere else I was station at parade grounds are outdoors. So after the first shot you telling me Mofos are just standing around and not taking cover.Remember we are talking about pistols not rifles so range and accuracy would be limited. But what do I know. This doctor could have been a crack marksman and could pick off running targets at ranges of 100 meters and making everyone of his shots count.
  • Guns3000 · 1 month ago
Remember Va tech. That wacko killed 32 people with handguns and hollow points.
  • djchefron · 1 month ago
If I remember that was in an enclosed building where no one could get away. Now was this on parade grounds like they said or in a building. The Army better get thier story straight or this will get out of hand
  • Guns3000 · 1 month ago
Yeah, it's all speculation at this point. I don't know either but I'm saying with the proper training and preparation those kill rates are not unreal. He killed 12 and the 30 injured doesn't necessarily mean all those people were injured by gunfire. I'm sure he scoped out the place and didn't just storm in with guns blazing.
  • pjamma · 1 month ago
I was thinking the same thing. I don't have any experience with guns except from what I've seen on TV but 2 handguns shooting 43 people seems improbable. I heard at max he had 48 shots. 43/48 he was in the wrong specialty.
  • lamh32 · 1 month ago

I now know that one of the people involved is a Major. What I do not know is if he is active duty. What I can tell you is that if you are exmilitary you have base privledges. This means you drive up to the door flash your ID and you're on the base.
The probability is low but I truly believe these people are prepared to create a crisis. They would love to be yelling posse Commitas was broken to stir up their base.

Army Spokesman Lt. General Robert W. Cone.

A defense official speaking on condition of anonymity to the AP says Hasan was a mental health professional — an Army psychologist or psychiatrist.

There are unconfirmed reports that Major Hasan was a convert to Islam and originally from Virginia. He was reportedly scheduled to deploy to either Iraq or Afghanistan and was unhappy about it.
  • jelana · 1 month ago
They should have known not to deploy him since his ethnicity seems to be Middle Eastern. This is not the first problem the military has had with this.
  • Miranda · 1 month ago
Shooting suspect is Army mental health specialist. CBS reports that suspected Ft. Hood shooter Maj. Hasan was a licensed psychiatrist from Maryland. According to the AP, a defense official said Hasan was a mental health professional -- either an Army psychologist or psychiatrist. It's not known if he was treating people at the post.

Kay Bailey Hutchinson on CNN talking somemore. People really shoudln't be saying stuff unless they are really sure. She's now telling Blitzer that the guy was from Jordan!!!
  • itgurl_29 · 1 month ago
It's just been reported that he's a convert to Islam. So his ass could be from anywhere or be any color.
  • WordSmith · 1 month ago
She was on earlier talking to David Schuster not long after this broke.... she was in touch with "some general" - kept calling him, "he." I don't who she was talking to. Everyone's attempting to get some information out there FIRST so they can start demonizing whatever 'group(s)' this guy was part of.

First up - mental health & health professionals.
    - "A-Rab' sounding names
    - 'Muslim' ...... (just for the hell of it, I hoped he converted to Islam from Catholicism where he was once a altar boy. Then we could go after former altar boys.)

  • lamh32 · 1 month ago
People should really stop trying to politicize this right now. I can't stand Rick "Stepford Wife Hair" Perry but Sen Kay Bailey Hutch needs to let the Gov provide the information.

  • lamh32 · 1 month ago

But good ol' Kay said that sand nigga was from Jordan!! See how they wanna stir up shit. Turns out he may very well be a good ol' white boy from Virginia. HAHA!

    From KWTX.com

Fort Hood Shooter Was Army Psychiatrist

WASHINGTON (November 5, 2009)—The suspected gunman behind the deadly shooting Thursday at Fort Hood was an Army psychiatrist who spent six years at Walter Reed Army Medical Center before he was transferred to Fort Hood in July, officials told The Associated Press.

The officials, who had access to Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan's military record, said he received a poor performance evaluation while at Walter Reed.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because military records are confidential.

The Virginia-born soldier was single with no children.

He was 39 years old and was a graduate of Virginia Tech University, where he was a member of the ROTC and earned a bachelor's degree in biochemistry in 1997.

He received his medical degree from the military's Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md., in 2001.

He did his internship, residency and a fellowship at Walter Reed.
  • Town · 1 month ago
What's in the water @ Virginia Tech?
  • CraigHickman · 1 month ago
Military officials are giving out confidential information?

He was promoted to Major this past May?

How poor could his performance have been?

    What constitutes poor?

Isn't it easy to create a profile of the dead who have no opportunity to defend themselves?

And since he was single and had no children, who can vouche for him?
  • djchefron · 1 month ago
He had poor performance evaluations but made major at 39.Not saying it cannot be done but usually if you have a poor eval. that shit dont happen overnight. This is not making sense. He received his degree in 2001 I would like to know what year he was commissioned. Was it in 2001 or 1997.If it was in 2001 aint no way in hell he made major in under 8 years.
  • Miranda · 1 month ago
I just saw a military personnel state that because there are so few medical doctors, especially psychiatrists (1 doctor for every 743 soldiers), that they rise up VERY quickly. I believe I heard he was a captain right out of med school.
  • WordSmith · 1 month ago
Correct, Miranda. All the physicians I served with were commissioned as captains, specifically those who had med school paid for by the military.
  • Guns3000 · 1 month ago
He was Rotc so that may have expedited the process.
  • djchefron · 1 month ago
Still he would have started as a butterball
  • WordSmith · 1 month ago
No - he wouldn't have. A bachelor's degree will get you 2Lt. Master's = 1Lt. Someone going all the way thru med school won't be coming into any of the military branches as a 'butterball.'
  • Guns3000 · 1 month ago
    Exactly
  • WordSmith · 1 month ago
Just a second - if he went to medical school on the military's dime and had to pay back 'time' - he would have come in as a captain -depending on his specialty. First lieutenant at the very least. All the doctors I knew and worked with who were drafted or had medical school paid for by the military were commissioned as captains.
