Jack and Jill Politics: Biggest Election of the Night - Mississippi’s First District

  • The Christian Progressive Libe · 1 year ago
I agree; this is the biggest win of the night.

West Virginia's going for the Borg Queen was expected...and sends a message that Obama shouldn't go where he's not wanted. I just hate the Borg Queen used the race card to get an election that really doesn't mean a thing regarding the delegates and superdelegates, but she'll play it up like she won the nomination. UGH
  • B-Serious · 1 year ago
    Gotta love them Obama coattails!!!

And they tried to use Rev. Wright as a wedge? Didn't work.

Super delegates. . . take notice!!!

    It's time to move on!

    Obama '08!
  • TruthSeeker · 1 year ago
The win is up to 6 points now.

For some reason not one of the networks or wire services is bothering with your pretend-world "biggest win of the night". LOL. Nice try.

    Go WV!

Go Hillary! (If not in 08, then in 12) :-)))))))))))))))

    It was breaking news!

Tim Russert commented that the Republicans are in trouble.

There will be serious talk about it after Hillary's klan meeting convenes.
  • TruthSeeker · 1 year ago
    anonymous,

how will Hillary get African American's to vote for her in 2012, not to mention all the people of other ethncities who now despise her?

Even when Barack loses, he wins!(Childers).
  • Ms.Martin · 1 year ago
Hillary's about to write herself another check!

Funny that. I just watched Mike Huckabee (who campaigned for Davis BTW) on MSNBC absolutely crestfallen talking about how this means the Republicans are in serious trouble in November.

    LOL. Nice try.

Operation Chaos backfired. All those Rethugs who voted for Hillary Rodham Nixon in the Democratic primary were disqualified from this special election.

    Laugh with me, people.
  • Ms.Martin · 1 year ago
I can't wait for the statistics on this race. I would like to know who voted for him and how he won.
  • evie · 1 year ago
You're absolutely right. The MS win is huge. And even moreso because they spent more than $1M, brought in big-gun Cheney, and tried to smear the Dem with Wright. They lost and they lost big. We're now 3 for 3 in heavily R districts!

    Go Dems! Go Obama!
  • Ms.Martin · 1 year ago
The Repubs knew that Wright bs wasn't working, that's why they had Hagee apologize today.
  • rikyrah · 1 year ago
The Marlboro Man (Kleeb) won in Nebraska.

I think they spent 2 mil. The candidate 1 mil and outside group 1mil if my memory serves correctly.
  • rikyrah · 1 year ago
    ms. martin,

you are on point about Hagee.
  • Anonymous · 1 year ago
Hagee apologized to woo the catholic vote...very important in PA
  • Ms.Martin · 1 year ago
    Rikyrah

He didn't apologize for what he said about New Orleans and Katrina,

I can't wait to see the ad with Bush and McCain eating cake and Hagee in the background talking about how God destroyed NO because of the gay parade.

America is finally sick of this bullshit, FINALLY!

He wasn't worried about the Catholics pre-Wright.

You know this whole primary seems as if it's just a game to a lot of Hillary supporters. It just baffles me when I hear things like...(if not in 08, then in 2012) nonsense. It's not a highschool football rivalry. It's the state of this nation folks. I bet they are totally passing by the victory in Mississippi, and what it means. Wake up! Get over yourselves and pay attention.
  • Andrea · 1 year ago
I am glad the dem won so that the media and the republicans can shut up.
  • Anonymous · 1 year ago
    Ms Martin-

    Its two-fold

First-Hagee story has been getting more traction on cable news shows and I am sure that internal polling showed Catholic vote may go dem in November. Indiana, PA are two states where they will matter.

Second..Rev Wright will not go away--they will resurrect him--but Hagee's apology makes him go away---sort of...LOOK my nutty pastor apologized--yours hasnt!!

    --------------

It's personal to a lot of people, though, and has been ever since Obama won Iowa. Ever since then, the Clinton campaign has been sounding the foghorn that Obama is taking "their" spot and he only got to where is he because he's black. That plays well to a lot of white people because a lot of white people have stories about how they were up for some job but they hired a black instead or their kid couldn't get into college because a black kid "took their spot." So, I think a lot of white supporters of Hillary Clinton want her to stay in the race not just because they feel she's the best candidate, but because they feel she's "fighting for them..." she's just like them because she understands what it's like to have a job / college admission / dream snatched away and given to somebody black. It's just very personal now.

I couldn't tell you why Stephanie Tubbs Jones cheers Hillary and her antics on, though.

Does anyone wonder why Obama didn't campaign in WV aside from the obvious reason that he wasn't going to win it?

I wonder if there was some kind of threat?
  • Craig Hickman · 1 year ago
ms.martin, that's exactly what we were questioning in my household.
  • texas girl in l.a. · 1 year ago
He did campaign there, just not hard.

But I wouldn't doubt that there were threats.
  • Anonymous · 1 year ago
not sure about threats but looking at the exit polls I wouldnt be surprised if he blew off WV in Nov. DId u see these racist fucks on TV? One callled him a muslim, another said she wouldnt vote for Obama no matter what...the only one that claimed to have voted for him said "I voted for the negro--I hate that woman"..LOL!!

    He will NOT win WV
  • TruthSeeker · 1 year ago
I confess, I was thinking there were death threats in WV.
  • Craig Hickman · 1 year ago
Barack wins the beauty contest primary in Nebraska 49 to 46 over Nixon.

The official South Dakota primary might be as close.
  • Craig Hickman · 1 year ago
No, he won't win WV and since the general election is winner take all, he should focus his efforts in Louisiana, Mississippi, Georgia, North Carolina and Virginia and leave WV alone.
  • Ms.Martin · 1 year ago
Lanny Davis just said that the Dems can't win with an AA coalition.

Lanny Davis just said that the Dems can't win with an AA coalition.

    ------------

Well, that's the narrative the Clinton campaign has been spinning since Super Tuesday, that only blacks and eggheads vote for Obama, while working class meat and potatoes white people vote for Clinton.

Except that white, working class meat and potatoes type of people tend to vote Republican in presidential elections.
  • rikyrah · 1 year ago
    ms. martin,

where did our dear loathesome Lanny just make that statement?
  • smoothie · 1 year ago
    2 more supers for Obama

College Dems Lauren and Awai Endorse Barack!

(i guess considering ones in mich its really 1, either way it brings his total for today to 5 SD's

I didn't respond to your earlier question about Clinton surrogates because I am so sick of them all, but I think Lanny Davis is the one.

I really don't like him at all.

He was so bad tonight that Larry King kept reminding him that he had already said things he kept repeating (on purpose).

I can't wait until this is over, I can't wait, I can't wait to watch them all eat shit.

I read that story, it was a brutal as it gets.

Lanny was on Larry King live.
  • Ms.Martin · 1 year ago
I think HRC and posse are trying to render AAs powerless in the Dem voting process.

Wait until she finds out about all the AAs I'm going to register after she's gone. I'm going to make it my goal and life's mission for the next several month's to find every unregistered voter in my town and register them.
  • smoothie · 1 year ago
it can be found on Dailykos.

ed schultz also noted that he expects "several more" to come out tommorrow. If he can pull off 30 orso SDs per week, (which is his current pace) Fl and MI really wont matter.2025 can be hit by the end of the month.
  • Ms.Martin · 1 year ago
Jamal Simmons pointed out tonight that Obama has picked up as many Superdelegates since IN/NC as Hillary won in WV tonight.

    Funny!
  • Ms.Martin · 1 year ago
Howard Wolfson is getting dogged on the FL/MI vote.

    He looks slimey to me.

    ms. martin,

I don't doubt it, but we won't go quietly into the night.

    Why Superdelegates Won’t Block Obama
  • Ms.Martin · 1 year ago
John McCain called Hillary tonight to congratulate her,but he has never done the same for Obama.

What's up with that? I still believe Hillary is working for the Republicans.

She's not called The Manchurian Candidate for nothing...LOL

    McCain/Nixon 2008!!!

Anybody notice that they didn't provide any exit polls for the Black vote last night?
  • Anonymous · 1 year ago
Well Fox Noise had "Black vote too small to make impact" scrolling at the bottom of the screen, but I do wonder why they didn't say "92% of the Black Vote was for Obama."
