I'm not thrilled, but I'm not freaked either. I loathe Hillary, but she is not Sarah Palin. She has a brain. She's a talented person. It's already had the added benefit of making Bill sit and stay (he opened up his financial records for review, he wouldn't even do that when Hillary was running for President).

If it makes any of you feel any better, just think about the fact that Hillary will have to be at the White House for meetings. And every time President Obama enters the room, she'll have to stand up.

H. Clinton has little or no international experience. Moreover, this choice rewards Clinton for her participatory role in sending our military into Iraq; an action for which she still has not shown any reqret or contrition.

Since there's no practical reason for this choice, I can only conclude that it's based on cold, calculated politics. Whether it's trying to keep a tight leash on her, or whether he bluffing, I have to say ...

Again...here's Sarah Palin taking her own agenda to an even lower level. If she wants people to listen to her and hear her views, she shouldn't have that as her backdrop. Everyone is so caught up watching the guy in the back, no one will remember anything she says. Not to mention, I get that this occurs every day. That being said, I really don't care to watch it. She is absolutely tasteless and probably the most clueless politician out there.

Yes, President-elect Obama has been afforded the opportunity to lead as the nation's 44th President and first African-American President of the United States; however, he is facing a very challenging four years: a troubled U.S. economy, uninsured Americans, an out-dated heath care system, a failing Social Security system, political corruption... just to name a few of many equally important issues that directly and indirectly impact our lives.

I implore every U.S. citizen (male, female, Filipino, black, Muslim, Christian, atheist, white, Latino, Asian, etc.) to support of President-elect Obama to do his or her due diligence and follow the outgoing junior Senator's lead: educate yourselves; get involve in community meetings and be part of the solution... not part of the problem.

I realize that the new Obama Administration will include many of outgoing President Bush's circle. It is imperative that we Americans bury the hatchet and unite as one nation and do our part in restoring the United States credibility and reputation as a Superpower nation with which our allies would once again be glad to work towards to global democracy, peace and humanitarianism.

Yes, I welcome the countdown to the Inauguration because change must come. If we fail, we will have failed ourselves as a people. As a matter of fact, thank Bush for bringing the best out in us. :D

She's a good choice for a number of reasons -

1. She has more cajones that the entire male contingent of Democrats in the House and senate who were so wimp they couldn't find the courage to put even the most egregarious criminals in the Bushit administration in jail. The Foreign leaders who spent much of the last 4 years alternately ignoring and laughing at Condo know the game is up.

2. She is well known in International circles. She and her Husband are the most respected American politicians around the world in the last 30 years.

3. She is a conservative Democrat, which means she is likely to deploy American force where necessary.

4. The Department of State suffers from the same "Brownie-zation" as FEMA and other parts of the Government where kool-aid drinking goose stepping to the tune called by the neo-cons was considered as the singular qualification - over policy experience or gravitas. She will have to oversee a complete rebuilding of the United States State Department from the ground up.

I'm going to wait until official word. And isn't it funny, the same people who villified Hillary for 8 years and called her everything but a child of God are singing her praises? Isn't it funny the same people who are pushing Hillary for this position are war supporters? I believe this is a case of the media trying to run Obama's show.

The way I see it, it "could be worse."

Let's say Tim Kaine left VA for a job with Obama. Bill Bolling-R would be the governor and then he'd run later on next year based on being the current governor, so he "could" and probably "would" win.

We know what we're getting.

But lets say Kaine finishes out his last year, and the Republicans think they are going to run Bill Bolling for governor but Jeffrey "Osama=Obama" Frederick or Bob "No Condoms for You" Marshall or George "Macaca" Allen decide to run for the GOP nomination and they knock off Bolling to get it. You could be getting a lot worse than Bolling.

I guess my point is you can't make your career decisions what will/might happen after you leave.

I'm not so much worried about deliberate efforts to undermine him but her incompetence. We were over sold on her competency before the start of the primaries. She couldn't manage a campaign that had been in the making for years. What are these "assets" everyone is talking about that would make her a good manager of an entire Department?

No, I'm not a teacher. Just trying to take the "personal" out and look at the situation objectively.

Look at it in job terms: if you're working at Widgets Inc., Sprockets LLC generally isn't going to offer you a job there unless you apply or express interest in working for Sprockets LLC. The only way Sprockets LLC is going to approach you first is if you're so good at your job at Widgets Inc. that Sprockets is willing to lure you away.

If you're fine with staying with Widgets, you're going to tell Sprockets "Thanks but no thanks."

If you leave Widgets for Sprockets, is it really Sprockets' fault you left? After all, Sprockets didn't hold a gun to your head and force you to leave Widgets.

And if you leave Widgets for Sprockets and Betty the Hated Coworker ends up taking over your spot, the Widget people will either learn to work with Betty or they will find a way to get rid of Betty.

But you shouldn't base your career decisions based on what will happen after you leave, either.

Change is scary, but if Obama is going to staff his administration based on what might happen if his choices leave their current spots, he might as well call John McCain and ask him if he can hand off POTUS to him.
