Jack and Jill Politics: Can’t make this stuff up. Pill Poppin’ Piece-On-The-Side says James.Dobson.In.A.Dress Has National Security Experience

  • Miranda · 1 year ago
So basically, the writers at all the late night shows can just kick their heels up for the next 2 months. This stuff just writes itself.

I can't even imagine Michelle saying anything so completely ignorant...but I did see a post where someone asked what if Michelle had taken a photo holding a AK-47 like Politician Barbie did...and I thought, well that's exactly what the New Yorker cover portrayed and it was supposed to be "satire"....the quadruple standard just amazes me.
  • rikyrah · 1 year ago
Miranda, there's so much, I can't even keep up with it. Yep, I remember reading about the AK-47 comparisons.
  • rikyrah · 1 year ago
Miranda, can you find me a link with that picture?

Here's a picture Rikyrah. Scroll down for a picture of her in Kuwait examining a rifle.

I saw another picture, and as I went to look for it thru google, I saw a pic captioned Sarah and her son Track out hunting, but you click on the image which is from palinforgovernor and the page no longer exists. Now if you type in palinforgovernor, you go straight to mccain's site. I did read that this site, her wiki page and her official site with the AK state government have been scrubbed.
  • Anovelista · 1 year ago
Miranda get out of my head! LOL!!

The quadruple standard times ten! Barack and Michelle Obama, along with Joe Biden, are the only ones who have been vetted in this process. And as you noted earlier, Obamas vetters were vetted!

No one has vetted Cindy McCain's charity/pill scandal thoroughly - it is just ignored. Yet, there are still nutjobs going on and on about Michelle Obama's college thesis (conveniently ignoring her racist freshman roommate) and her salary as an executive.

We're supposed to accept Sarah Palin with her "foreign policy cred" because "Alaska is close to Russia" and that a 1984 beauty queen who was a local sportscaster in 1988 with a journalism degree, mayor of a town of 9,000 in 1996 that she left in shambles (fiscally) and governor of a state with a population smaller than Chicago for the last 20 months ...

She "trumps" Barack Obama, who had a Columbia political science degree in 1984 as a community organizer; the first Black president of Harvard Law Review; the man who turned down a Supreme Court clerkship and orchestrated one of the biggest black voter turnouts ever in Chicago that elected Carol Moseley Braun and Bill Clinton (see http://www.chicagomag.com/Chicago-Magazine/Janu... Senate Foreign Relations Committee member who traveled to Russia in that capacity with Republican Senator Richard Lugar (http://www.barackobama.com/2005/11/01/nonprolif...) and co-sponsored the Lugar-Obama bill (http://obama.senate.gov/press/061211-lugar-obam...) and

Oh let me stop. The campaign ads will write themselves.
  • Miranda · 1 year ago
Obama has had staffers vetted! Some of his volunteers have been vetted by the media. One of his remote campaign offices had a picture of Che Guevara up and he caught hell! Obama's Muslim Liasion had to resign all because he served on some board with what the wingnuts called another "radical Imam"...its crazy! But here you have the spouse of the presidential candidate, the presidential candidate himself, and now his VP pick all saying and doing things that far out-weigh ANYTHING coming out of the Obama camp and its completely ignored! This is foolishness!
  • Anovelista · 1 year ago
    Exactly. Quadruple standards.

Rikyrah, this is like some kind of joke lottery...it just keeps on coming:

    From the dailykos:

Here is Palin's response to a candidate questionnaire for the Alaska 2006 gubernatorial race:

Are you offended by the phrase “Under God” in the Pledge of Allegiance? Why or why not?
SP: Not on your life. If it was good enough for the founding fathers, its good enough for me and I’ll fight in defense of our Pledge of Allegiance.

ummmmmm.......The Pledge of Allegiance was written in 1892 by Francis Bellamy, a Baptist minister, a Christian Socialist, and the cousin of Socialist Utopian novelist Edward Bellamy (1850-1898).

We don't have national polls in the US...don't let these national polls scare you. Mississippi and Oregon are not the same.....New York and New Mexico are not the same. A national poll does not reflect the electoral college.

Meanwhile, the fact still remains that she was a beauty queen and a local sportscaster while Obama was already at work on the ground in the South Side of Chicago. Nothing wrong with beauty queens or sportscasters, but this is not the governor to put up against Obama and claim she has "more experience". The common excuse I am seeing is that as a governor, Palin "ran things" and has "executive experience that Obama and Biden don't have because they are Senators. Of course, Senator McCain is left out of this equation.

Senator Obama's campaign proves that he knows how to "run things". He ran a groundbreaking, organized, fiscally-responsible national campaign that encompassed more people and voters than Sarah Palin has ever managed in her 20 months as governor. She has been governor for as long as Obama has been running for president.

Obama serves on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee where Sen. Biden is Chairman along with Dick Lugar, Chuck Hagel, Chris Dodd, etc. With Lugar, he co-sponsored The Lugar-Obama legislation, S.1949 (http://obama.senate.gov/speech/060209-opening_s... )

Obama not only knows the difference between Sunnis and Shiites unlike McCain (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EetobKXQsr8), he knows that Czechoslovakia no longer exists(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tE33mU7TjxE ) and neither does an Iraq/Pakistan border (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/07/21/mccain...).

Even George Bush slammed McCain on his Czechoslovakia gaffe in the 2000 Presidential debates! http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/07/14/mccain...

In fact, George Bush himself dinged McCain for this blunder back in the 2000 primary. Steve Clemons writes:

Second, before Republicans condemn Dems for being picky on this, let's not forget that in the 2000 campaign, when McCain also screwed up Czechoslovakia, it was none other than George W. Bush who said it deserved to be a campaign issue: "A guy gets up and quizzes me [on world leaders] ... but John McCain says something about the 'ambassador to Czechoslovakia.' Well, I know there is no Czechoslovakia [there's a Czech Republic and a Slovakia], but yet it didn't make the nightly national news."

Barack Obama also went to Russia, Ukraine and Azerbaijan with Dick Lugar in 2005 as a part of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Has Gov. Palin ever been to Russia? In fact, I would love to know the extent of her traveling experience - business and personal.

That same lack of curiosity about the world that's demonstrated by McCain not using the internet. Over at RUMPROAST Kevin posted some interesting stuff on the murder of a talk show host and Cindy McCains sainted father. I know this is getting crazy and I start thinking I am losing it but the Rethuglicans have proven their crime reds time and again.
Gore Vidal was interviewed by David Bender on Air America and he said the USA for the R. is a trillion dollar business and they will do anything not to lose control. Vidal is afraid they will try to kill Obama.

Hey JJP! Can someone please give me a checklist for why Sarah Palin should not be Vice- President and definitely not President of our country? I want to share them on my internet radio show.

You should start with Andrew Sullivan's blog, The Daily Dish. He has been compiling things faster than I have been. Though, check the Palin posts here and at PoliticalInaction.com

More on Obama's executive experience found via Andrew Sullivan

    From Obsidian Wings:

    Executive Experience

    by hilzoy

On the McCain Report, Michael Goldfarb writes that Sarah Palin "has more executive experience than Barack Obama and Joe Biden put together", a point that, by some strange coincidence, has popped up all over the conservative blogs. I think that the idea that Palin has an advantage over Obama in this area is completely wrong.

When this campaign started, one of my biggest questions about Barack Obama was whether he would be any good at managing things. The President is, after all, the head of a very large organization, and he had better either have good management skills or hire a chief of staff who does. The fact that I didn't know whether Obama had them didn't prevent me from voting for him -- none of the other candidates I might have supported had a track record in management either -- but I would have been happier had I known whether Obama was any good at running things.

I don't have that problem any more. Obama has spent the past year and a half running a large organization -- as of last December, it had "about 500 employees and a budget of $100 million" -- and running it very well. It's not just that he and his team beat the Clinton campaign, which started out with enormous advantages. It's not even that he often did so by building effective political machines from scratch in states in which Clinton had locked down the political establishment. It's that every account of the Obama campaign that I've read makes it clear that he has done an outstanding job of constructing and running a political organization.

Why Palin is McCain's pick...it is easy....she satifies the base, energizes them actually.

But she also does something else for egocentric McCain. She and her husband are totally green on the National and International Scene. McCain & Co has found a far right Governor of very little experience whom they can mold and guide 24/7.

Do you think for one second the Palin family will be allowed to speak one word that hasn't been scripted.

They are exultant to be picked for this robotic role for McCain.

It is the worst kind of politics...we can only hope and pray that most Americans will see this for what it is.

Here's another thought about the possible National Enquirer Story:

    From The Daily Dish:

    Privacy And Palin
    31 Aug 2008 08:21 pm

    A reader writes:

The argument against any kind of reporting on candidates' personal lives has always been that private life should remain private. Why should I care if some guy has an affair, etc.

Here's why this isn't off-limits. The McCain campaign has made the existence of this child a central part of its PR rollout of Palin, in particular highlighting the fact that Palin chose not to abort the child even though she knew the baby had Down Syndrome.
The campaign has made the entire story of this pregnancy and birth a part of its narrative to portray Palin as a morally superior being who is therefore deserving of the second-highest office in the land.

There is a serious possibility that this narrative is completely false, that, in fact, Palin's daughter became pregnant, and that she decided to take the following steps: first, hide the pregnancy by withdrawing her daughter from school; and second, pretend that the child was hers, in the process lying to everyone around her, including the public and her staff. If she did this, one must then ask, why? Certainly, it was preferable to an abortion. But why couldn't she simply admit that her daughter got pregnant at sixteen? Palin could have served as a wonderful role model of family support for a pregnant teen, and obviously she would have helped to raise the child. Instead, Palin sent a message that her daughter was shameful, and that lying is better than the truth.

Even if one could excuse this behavior as a misguided effort to protect her family, what happened next is beyond the pale. Knowing full well the truth, Palin allowed the false version of this story to be used as part of a PR campaign to dupe voters into viewing her in a completely false light.

What this says about her is that she believes that when you get into a situation where there might be public embarrassment, the best thing to do is lie (apparently, the same thing she did with Troopergate). That, to me, seems relevant to voters making a decision in November.

Palin is an historic insult to any one of us here, period.

She was picked for several reasons:

    1. satisfies feminine base.
    2. satisfies religious base.
    3. jingoistic and blindly patriotic, good for PR.
    4. willing lapdog for the party and power
    5. and finally....Governor of Alaska, an Oil industry target.

The final reason essentially is the job requirement of many in our present administration as well as Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq.

I saw this! I choked on my coffee when she said this. This chick was an educator right?

On a side note, George "pompous ass" Will's wife is helping to write Cindy McCain's speech for this weeks RNC convention. I say good luck. She will need ALL the help she can get. There is no way she can top Michelle.
