Jack and Jill Politics: Canvassing in the DC area

Thank for your work, Baratunde. I'll be working the Southern VA corridor :)

For everyone else, read and spread around the new column from Frank Rich in the New York Times today. It's one of the harshest condemnations of the Clintons that I've read.

It sickened me to see the same ol machine politics crap from Al Wynn, Ike Leggette, Martin O'Malley, Mikulski etc. If these folks then swing their super delegate power to Hillary the American will have no faith in the Democratic Party...

Bravo to a person who's usually oily as a supertanker spill--Doug Wilder. I'm sure he's trying to get some largesse from the Clintons under the table, but making them sweat in the process...

The real test for Hillary is this Tuesday in Virginia. Despite her campaign placing its hopes on Texas the truth is that it's not a contestable state in a general election. So while Texas Democrats can help Clinton win the nomination they are not a similar asset in the general election. Virginia, in contrast, is a red state that can go blue if Obama is the nominee. If Clinton can't win VA then even if by some stretch she gains the nomination she'll lose in a way that hasn't been seen since Dukakis in 1988.

    Let's do this!

natthedem: ditto on the Frank Rich column. amazing stuff. The angle about the Clintons stoking black/latino tension is very interesting ...

submariner, great post. What is noteworthy about that is that the media, the establishment, and the Clinton campaign assert that Obama's wins don't count because many are red states that he can't win in the general. However, the same test doesn't apply to Hillary because all of the pundits say that if she wins Texas she is the nominee. If Barack wins, I am sure TX will no longer count. Red states are only important when Hillary wins them but they are a liability when Obama wins them. "They" continue to set a new marker everytime Barack surpasses the current marker. It is frustrating to witness.
