"Sen. Hillary Clinton will hold an event with supporters by Friday, likely ending her historic bid for the White House and ceding the Democratic nomination to Barack Obama, ABC News has learned."

Eric also wonders if there will be a backlash against African-Americans from some whites who feel we've already gotten too many breaks and believes this may impede forceful effort from Obama to address issues important to African-Americans.

    What an idiotic article.

What country does this guy live in this kind of crap already happens.

Black folks will never be free from whites who feel that we are "getting over" despite the fact that we have less than they do.

    Backlash?

    Who cares?
  • RhondaCoca · 1 year ago
    Baltogeek-

Yea, when they feel that we have gotten away and they can no longer control us then they go mad.

Truthfully, what he is saying may be going on in the heads of too many white but he is simply being overt with it.

In the end, it is truly nonsensical. Its unfortunate that many will indeed look at this as that. However its okay. Obama is the nominee and from the way I see things, he will be President and rightfully so. He's earned it.

I nearly got jumped at work today over this. I live in New York so you know that today was not pretty.

Hey Jack - you forgot to include my FAVORITE excerpt from this story. I posted it in two of the posts below but I have to post again it tickles me so bad. Sorry . . . can't help it. Okay here goes. Check out the last sentence.

    *******************************

“We pledged to support her to the end,” said Representative Charles W. Rangel, a New York Democrat who has been a patron of Mrs. Clinton since she first ran for the Senate. “Our problem is not being able to determine when the hell the end is.”

"Yea, when they feel that we have gotten away and they can no longer control us then they go mad."

This may be the most accurate thing you've ever said! Lord knows it's the truth.

We must be seen as inferior to support their false sense of superiority.
  • Ms.Martin · 1 year ago
Jill the look on his face alone showed graciousness that required no words. I was again reminded why I support this man and his family.

As far as Hillary dropping out, please let no one see this as a favor, I never will.

If ever given an opportunity, I will vote against her every time.
  • RhondaCoca · 1 year ago
    Exactly however you said this:

"This may be the most accurate thing you've ever said!"

Really? Am I that off all the time?
  • RhondaCoca · 1 year ago
    Ms. Martin-

She is reluctantly conceding! My god...crazy lady.

"If ever given an opportunity, I will vote against her every time."

I will probably have to deal with her as my senator!

My poor parents rest their heads near this women (when she's home).

The party leadership which included her strategists and supporters had to almost literally drag her off the stage.

    That's a damn shame. A deranged narccisist.

Hill should endorse tomorrow. Friday is the 40th anniversary of RFK. Low class and inconsiderate but maybe she has a way to spin it that I can't see right now.

Wasn't feeling the Copage article. Black folk want the OPPORTUNITY to be disappointed in Obama. We've been disappointed in 43 White Guys, let's add the Black Guy in there too. And, if Obama disappoints us, we'll have no problem exercising our rights as citizens in voting him out.
  • RhondaCoca · 1 year ago
    Ms. Martin-

No you didn't offend me, Hillary offends me=)

    Rikyrah, Ms.Martin-

I was thinking the same thing. She is having an event on Friday in D.C. where she will thank her supporters and endorse Obama.

After all she said, isnt he unqualified...why would she support someone who is unqualified? Hmmm...lol...haha

I'm so glad she's finally allowing reality to enter into her Yale educated lawyer brain.

Her speech last night, in addition to that false introduction by Terry 'I'm insane' McAuliffe and the bleatings of Lanny 'I can't believe we get beat by Obama' Davis

really left a bad taste in my mouth.

I have a feeling it did the same for the Obama campaign in terms of Hillary's VP fantasy.

Can I tell you how hard I laughed at the Hillary as VP idea? Because weren't the Classy Clintons arrogantly telling Obama he could be their VP in February?

No matter, today was an amazing day.
  • Ms.Martin · 1 year ago
    rikyrah

Apparently Rachel Maddow agrees with you. She said she'll believe Hillary when she hears her say the words concede or endorse.

She also made a great point that I hadn't thought of. She said John McCain wants to do town hall meetings with Obama so he can have the chance to speak in front of the large crowds that Obama draws. How cheesy.
  • heartsandflowers · 1 year ago
Part of me wants Clinton to keep pushing forward so they can lower the boom on her ass. She had better give the speech of her LIFE and do a complete 360 to the 3rd power and APOLOGIZE to the voters and esp. to the Obamas. Her career and Billy Jeff’s legacy depend on it. She can’t make up for being a spoiler to last night no matter what she does and I hope no one ever forgets that and holds her accountable for it. Oprah waited a long time to throw her support behind a candidate and when she finally did look who we got! Bush & Gore going on her show was part of their campaign strategy nothing more. She’s the Queen of all Media. It was [some – ok a lot] people who didn’t question what they were being fed. Also people were having their first bout of Clinton fatigue – how quickly we forget! The Clintons have to take responsibility for their lack of character that lead to putting Bush in office.
  • heartsandflowers · 1 year ago
Oh yeah and some people are now trying to claim the white side of Obama's parentage by referring to him as half-white. He went from not Black enough to all Black to multi-racial in the span of 4 months.

there is a nancy wilson song thats call "Face It Girl, It's Over"....some of the lyrics is "whats the use in hanging on while he slowly slips away from you, don't go along for the ride keep some semblance of pride there's really nothing else u can do
  • Nquest · 1 year ago
First, Clinton is only suspending her campaign (which means she can resume it at a later date) which was what some noted she could have done before the assassination gaffe.

Second, what's with all this spin that HRC did Obama a favor at AIPAC? Chris Matthews wanted to spin it like that so bad but the video clips of Obama's and Clinton's speeches defied his attempt to say Clinton went first and vouched for Obama.

I'm trying to see why that was even necessary when the AIPAC member who introduced him made strong statement that Obama was a friend of Israel and said it more than once. That's one thing the media and Clintonites alike spun out of the story.

They also pretended like Obama's still more gracious and generous recognition of Clinton wasn't just that: much more generous and gracious yet no one said Obama was vouching for her.

actually the song i'm hearing in my head is that song from The Wizard of Oz:

    "duh, duh,...the Witch is dead___"
  • honey01 · 1 year ago
Yeah, I will believe it when I actually hear the words out of her mouth. Until then, media reports are just rumors to me. Too many times we have heard "it's over" and then The Crazy Lady surprises again.

Nah, I will believe it when I hear it from her mouth.

I totally agree with Rachel Maddow. She has been saying for awhile now that she planned to take it to the convention floor.

    Barry 4 Obama,

There are countless songs for Hillary. HaHaHa... I remember my grandmother playing that one.

I like "And I'm Telling You...I'm not going..." Haha

There's another one. I like to sing the chorus everytime I see her, "It's too late, she's gone too far, she's lost the sun, she's come undone".

'm worried about Hillary she may need therapy.
  • barry4obama · 1 year ago
Bob "Sambo" Johnson needs 2 go and sit his ass down somewhere
  • RhondaCoca · 1 year ago
    Yes, barry4Obama, he does.

Also, Obama needs to take charge of this VP issue when he is ready. He cannot have the media and the Clinton people drawing up the narrative. They will do what they did with his church. They will back him into a corner.

I do like his response to Hillary conceding. He will be taking Michelle on a date. That sounds romantic;)

Anyway, the media and Hillary people cannot keep chatting this whole VP thing up.
  • Nquest · 1 year ago
    rikyrah,

I'm saying her "strong" statement wasn't that strong and was hardly different from Obama's own statement insisting, first, that she was a friend to Israel and he certainly didn't push that she had a problem with Jews.
  • barry4obama · 1 year ago
i agree with u Rhonda....he needs to take charge and not let anybody push him into who he should pick........also i wanna be one of the first ones 2 lobby 2 get Michelle Bernard her own show......even though she's a conservative thats one fine sexy and smart ass sistah
  • Ms.Martin · 1 year ago
The Republicans have already made a commercial of illary's press conference where she said that she's ready and john mccain's ready and all Obama had was a speech.

We all knew she was making that statement for the Republicans.
  • RhondaCoca · 1 year ago
    Ms.Martin you are joking!

Also, I could not help but visit Hillary supporters' sites.

On one site, one woman named Carrie from Easton, PA said that "I am a lifelong democrat. This will be the first time in my life that I do not vote for a Democrat. I refuse to vote for Obama. He is a racist. I will never vote for a racist or anyone who has ever had associations with the likes of Farrakhan".

What an idiot! I pretty much said the following:

"Obama has no association to Farrakhan. I assume then that you voted for your own governor. If you didn't know then I will break it to you, your own governor has praised Farrakhan on the same stage. You supported him...too late. Go Youtube it."

I have been doing this all day. I have never heard so much garbege in my life. Clinton supporters are worse than the candidate.

I admire Anderson Copper after his comment on black anger. At least someone brought it up. He pretty much brought up the fact that blacks are not allowed emotion and that whites are not judged on that level. He said that when whites are angry, they are given a show.
  • Angela · 1 year ago
Did you hear David Gergen on AC's show say that Obama will be held to a higher standard than McCain in the GE? Guess we all knew that anyway.
  • rikyrah · 1 year ago
    angela,

We already knew that, and so does Obama. He's under no delusions otherwise.
  • rikyrah · 1 year ago
    From Melissa Harris-Lacewell:

Did you see the pound? The moment before he took to the podium, Michelle and Barack did more than the traditional political spouse embrace; they gave each other the pound. It caught me right in the gut; that simple move of loving friendship and solidarity between black folks in the moment before he accepted the nomination. I read it as each telling the other “we got this.” Yeah, we do.

Then, as Obama spoke the camera kept catching those Kappa brothers in the crowd. I have always been partial to Alpha men, but I was moved to see those young, college brothers wearing gear that was so familiar to me. It evoked memories of my college days: step shows, parties, and broken hearts. It occurred to me that I can’t remember ever seeing black greeks on display in a nationally televised political forum before.

Suddenly we were visible. Our way of being in the world just may be going to Washington. To the White House.

See...I wasn't the only one who noticed that the cameramen kept on going to the Kappa Brothers...LOL

The funniest thing I've read today on JJP was the poster who found all the comments from the media trying to describe the ' Dap' between the Obamas...hilarious.
  • rikyrah · 1 year ago
    Found this on boomantribune:

    Foreign reaction:

The lead story tonight - my "lede," as we spell it here - should have been about the remarkable fact that a black man has been nominated by a major party to lead a developed Western nation for the first time in the history of the world. A man - in whose lifetime people with his shade of skin were denied the right to vote and to use public accommodations - who is now on the cusp of the presidency. It says something good about America, and I would like to have been able to dwell on it.

But no. Once again, it's all about Hillary Clinton, who delivered the most abrasive, self-absorbed, selfish, delusional, emasculating and extortionate political speech I've heard in a long time. And I've left out some adjectives, just to be polite.

It was that speech last night that did her in. It was the Democratic Party, who, had bent over backwards for the deranged narcissist, and she once again spit in their faces.

Her gracelessness, her classlessness, her patheticness were so naked and raw, it could not be ignored- FINALLY.

She snapped their last Black nerve with that speech, AND the reports of Bob Johnson, Lanny Davis, that loser Debbie Schultz, sending around letters/petitions to members of Congress trying to pressure for the VP slot.

June 4 is the last day of Gallup Poll Daily interviewing of Democratic preferences for the nomination, as well as registered voter preferences in a hypothetical Clinton-McCain matchup. Today’s Clinton-Obama and Clinton-McCain trial heats therefore mark the end of Gallup Poll Daily reports on these measures.

Ok - this was in an email from Hillpatine herself

I wanted you to be one of the first to know: on Saturday, I will hold an event in Washington D.C. to thank everyone who has supported my campaign. Over the course of the last 16 months, I have been privileged and touched to witness the incredible dedication and sacrifice of so many people working for our campaign. Every minute you put into helping us win, every dollar you gave to keep up the fight meant more to me than I can ever possibly tell you.

On Saturday, I will extend my congratulations to Senator Obama and my support for his candidacy. This has been a long and hard-fought campaign, but as I have always said, my differences with Senator Obama are small compared to the differences we have with Senator McCain and the Republicans.

I have said throughout the campaign that I would strongly support Senator Obama if he were the Democratic Party's nominee, and I intend to deliver on that promise.

When I decided to run for president, I knew exactly why I was getting into this race: to work hard every day for the millions of Americans who need a voice in the White House.

I made you -- and everyone who supported me -- a promise: to stand up for our shared values and to never back down. I'm going to keep that promise today, tomorrow, and for the rest of my life.

I will be speaking on Saturday about how together we can rally the party behind Senator Obama. The stakes are too high and the task before us too important to do otherwise.

I know as I continue my lifelong work for a stronger America and a better world, I will turn to you for the support, the strength, and the commitment that you have shown me in the past 16 months. And I will always keep faith with the issues and causes that are important to you.

In the past few days, you have shown that support once again with hundreds of thousands of messages to the campaign, and again, I am touched by your thoughtfulness and kindness.

I can never possibly express my gratitude, so let me say simply, thank you.

I'LL BELIEVE IT WHEN I SEE IT IF SHE DROPS OUT.

IT MUST BE A TOTAL SURRENDER AND RELEASE OF ALL HER DELEGATES!!!!
  • teacher · 1 year ago
CNN missed the biggest story of the day by neglecting to report that the only reason hillbilly is willing to quit is because one of her staffers called a bunch of politicians to do an intervention on her! The story posted @ DailyKos stated that she hadn't realized that she has lost!!! Isn't that amazing? There is no way to get inside the head of a crazy person.

And the worst thing is that these people will continue to humor her for the rest of her life/career. They won't see her as being unstable, or if they do, they won't do or say anything about it. When she returns to the senate, they will tell her how great she did, what an awesome & brilliat campaign she waged...Some will agree with her that it was stolen from her. They will welcome her back to the senate with open arms & no one will tell her she's a psycho bitch and totally unfit for public service. No one will admonish her for practically tearing the party apart single handedly. But I guess she isn't totally nuts, because they got her to (pretend to) stand down for now. They will probably even reward her with a prestigious job, like senate majority leader, or Gov of NY. But we'll see what happens at the convention. I don't think she is going to sacrifice her whole career to feed her ego the biscuits of futility. I hope she returns to the senate like she's the queen of England & they diss her like a leper. They aren't going to though.
  • teacher · 1 year ago
Hearts&flowers;, I don't believe she wrote that letter because there would be a few more "I's, me's or my's" in it if she wrote it.

She has mind control like Hitler had, or Damien in The Omen. It's sad. I went to 1 of her sites for the very 1st time, & it really made me understand the term feminazi. I always thought rush limpball used that term because he was bitter about having to pay for sex, but it looks like he may have had a close encounter with a militant white woman. I'm ready to take on the white feminist because I'm not getting ready to take any of their crap. They might be mad for a long time over hillbilly losing, but they better take it to the Lord, cause if they start a tirade in my presence I'm going to shut the shit down. I'm not as nice and diplomatic as Obama. This is really going to redefine Black feminism. We can't be in their camp. Yes, we want them to vote for O, but there is a faction that hates him as much as we loathe hellory, and they will not be moved. We need to do a big outreach to other minorities to make up for the feminazi demographic. I think he needs to hire some additional strategists so his campaign can be more pro-active & less reactive.
  • TruthSeeker · 1 year ago
    teacher,

I saw that on Countdown, but I don't recall it being reported on CNN. That is huge...and sad. As I watched her speech, I wondered if there wasn't anyone in her life who loved her enough to say it was time to go.

It shocked me that neither Bill nor Chelsea would see what was unfolding and intervene out of love. Every day they go up there on stage with her and clap and smile ...it's just bizarre.

In light of that last appearance in the basement of BARUCH college..I mean c'mon BARUCH the root of Barack... with the media blackout, now I'm wondering if it's possible she was prevented from seeing the the coverage by people close to her. Who was truly responsible for choosing that venue. Then McAuliffe's intro "The next President of the US".

I don't know...is she diabolical, or is she driven mad by someone who has a lot to lose?

It's all very weird how her blogs are heavily moderated to weed out anything remotely uncomplimentary. I'm not into conspiracies but there just seems to be a web of deceit here, the pieces don't quite add up.
