  • CraigHickman · 4 months ago
That SLAMMING duo just won another Wimbledon doubles title!
  • spirit_55z · 4 months ago
Craig, do you know when NBC will air the doubles match?

I hate this delayed tape viewing.
  • CraigHickman · 4 months ago
I watched it on internet live. I don't know if NBC will show it at all. ESPN might later, though I doubt it.
  • spirit_55z · 4 months ago
    Thank you.

It's so nice to be able to admire the work of an athlete without cringing at their outside behavior. Those women are always ladies and champions in every sense of the word.

Jason Whitlock is less than toad shit
    http://msn.foxsports.com/tennis/story/9757816/S......

This is the line that really sums up his mindset:
"She'd rather eat, half-ass her way through non-major tournaments and complain she's not getting the respect her 11-major-championships résumé demands."

He's a big fat punk jackass scumbucket.

Is it just me, or do these two end up playing each other every year? LOL

I feel like I shouldn't be holding the trophy, like I'm holding Venus's trophy

    Serena Williams

    Venus said:

"Today she was too good, she had an answer for everything. She played the best tennis today so congratulations. I don't think the loss has set in yet because I'm still smiling.

    That was sweet!
    I like Venus most.
  • CraigHickman · 4 months ago
I prefer Serena. But putting that aside, in the semifinals, Serena won the point of the tournament in the match of the tournament where she had to save a match point. It was fitting she went on to win the title.

For the record, Serena is the first player in history to win a Slam after saving match points on THREE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS - 2003 Australian Open semifinal, 2005 Australian Open semifinal, 2009 Wimbledon semifinal.

    Amazing.

The Williams Sisters are a SLAMMING duo; love them.
  • isonprize · 4 months ago
a slamming duo that won the doubles championship!!!
  • spirit_55z · 4 months ago
I took a nap and missed watching the match live on the internet. Hopefully It will air on ESPN later.
  • ochyming · 4 months ago
My preference is physical, Venus looks frail compared to the power-full Serena (kudos for parents regarding their first name).
  • CraigHickman · 4 months ago
Congratulations, Serena. The sisters are playing doubles final right now, down a break in the first set already.

Here was my post on today's final.

I like to know what you all think about this column on Michael Jackson:
    http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/04/opinion/04her...

I don't know it seems to blame Jackson for all the US problems. He also claims that we "don't want to look under the rock of Jackson's life" , but from what I heard of the coverage there has been plenty under the rock looking.

CLIFF NOTES SUMMARY: Why are we idolizing this sick freak Michael Jackson?
  • rikyrah · 4 months ago
As my Sistafriend said to me..

with Black folks, when Michael died, so did his demons. so, the only thing left to celebrate is his genius.
  • 19Mahogany08 · 4 months ago
Here, here. I totally agree! There are plenty of other artists who had demons, as well, but I didn't see the media scrutinizing them with such a fine-toothed comb. I think Michael deserves to be celebrated for what he was brought us -- his art. Oh, and those magic sparkly socks. He was one of a kind. And for not just the eighties babies, but our parents, shoot, even our grandparents. (My 87-year-old grandma recently asked me to make her a CD with "Man in the Middle", so she can "have something to bop to." Her words. Smile. Michael will be missed by so many...)

And I don't see anyone denying Roman Polanski any awards and words of praise lol.
  • ochyming · 4 months ago
That is ALL true, sad is there were lottsa lot other GENIUS less celebrated.

People who contributed more to popular/not so popular music than MJ did.

And NO, his demons ARE ours, and we should not ignore it.
  • malletgirl02 · 4 months ago
Why should I or anyone else shoulder someone else's demons? I'm tired just because I'm black I have to take responsibility for someone else just because they are also black.
  • ochyming · 4 months ago
Yeah! you are right, but my point is - MOST of us bear that same self hatred (reverse racism if you will). Hey i am not better than anyone or worse …
So i put myself on anyone shoes.
  • ochyming · 4 months ago
    A very humane conundrum.
We freely dive into the material successful ones shoes.
  • malletgirl02 · 4 months ago
I don't really care about Michael Jackson either way, but I find it funny that someone who doesn't like all the attention Jackson is getting, but writes a column about him.
  • khrish · 4 months ago
I found the article quite interesting and quite true. I guess it is always refreshing to hear someone tell the truth evey now and then about Ronald Reagen era and what a failure it was since Republicans continue to try to raise him from the dead. The part on Michael was interesting, I have just never thought that he was a child molester because I have never seen him as anything more than a child himself. But then I wasn't privy to all the info that Bob would have had access to. There is that sense in me that there are people who see that someone has problems and are willing to take advantage; but I'll never know. However, I do know that I will miss the genus of MJ in his music and showmanship, but I have not thought of him as a great man ever. Anyway, it was a good article and like most people, when someone dies we try to think about the best of their lives, even when it is someone local. That was exactly the same way Elvis was treated and his wife was underage, remember?
