    Maxine Waters' support might have to do with her being one of only three Democrats on Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington's list of the twenty most corrupt members of Congress (the other two being Jefferson and Mollohan of West Virginia). She has an interest in resisting any effort to purge corrupt Democrats from Congres. If Jefferson goes down, she's likely to be next up in Democratic reformers' sights; her completely safe Democratic district is probably more vulnerable to a reformist primary challenge than Mollohan, whose district the Democrats could conceivably lose with a new, untried candidate in the general.

    Don't wait up nights for Obama to do something out of principle, espeically if it involves opposing an incumbent legislator (as Ned Lamont recently learned).

    Loyalty vs Ethics. Members of the CBC have known Jefferson, but are congizant of his moral failings. Every Democratic leaders (not soley CBC) should be stumping for Carter.

    I have to admit, I am really disappointed in Maxine Waters. To use a little vernacular -- that was my girl, 'kna mean? After her courageous campaigning for Ned Lamont in CT, I know she has to understand the stakes in LA. I didn't know she was listed as 1 of the 20 most corrupt members of Congress. Apparently, she likes to keep it all in the family. Read the CREW article here. Thanks for the heads up on her motivations.

    Watch out for next week's CBCMonitor Report in Black Agenda Report. I will be publishing a piece on the CBC and why they won't get anywhere until they start draining the swamp among their own.



    As far as Hastings and Jefferson are concerned, they are getting just desserts for consistently slinging their own sisters in the CBC under the bus to curry favor with Ms. Nancy, and she won't even toss them a bone!
