Jack and Jill Politics: Dear Undecideds, Obama Is Not A Nimbus Of Vague Hope

  • Guy LeCharles Gonzalez · 1 year ago
I had a friend this weekend ask me for help in explaining Obama to his girlfriend who's leaning towards Clinton and asked, "What's Obama done for black people?" I'm so sick of having to explain to people what his positions on various issues are because they're too lazy to look for themselves, willing to simply be impressed with his oratorical skills while accepting the Clinton talking point about her "35 years of experience". It's like explaining privilege to white people.

I'm going to use the phrase "nimbus of vague hope" to describe anything I don't like from now on.

    Lazy lazy lazy.

The moment she decided to racebait her way to the nomination, THAT became the sum total of her 35 years of 'experience'. She didn't even have faith in that ' experience', for if she did, then she wouldn't have done it.

Her word means nothing. She has no honor nor integrity.

"Nimbus of vague hopes", My Black Ass.

What IS America, if one long experiment of HOPE- ESPECIALLY for Black folk.

    Idiot.

Of course, this isn't ignorance - it's a talking-point. Hillary really has no other arguments to make, never mind that most of the experience is borrowed, or marked by failure (think healthcare).

And in truth, there aren't a lot of policy differences between the two, other than Iraq - and nobody on Team Hillary is talking up her steel-solid track record there.

The real difference is that Obama can win this in a landslide, but with Hillary you'll have to cross your fingers and hope for a narrow win. And even a win would be followed by four years of grenade-tossing stalemate.

    Dear guy leCharles,

Here is my "What Has Barack Obama Done for Black People?" list.

I originally wrote this for Rev. Jesse Jackson, but feel free to share it with your friend too.

I wonder if this is the same Rebecca Traister who wrote a fawning piece about Bill Clinton in Elle Magazine last fall. She seemed to be all weak-kneed in his presence. It was embarrassing.

    NMP,

    Unbelievable.

    it's pathetic.

I told y'all she plays that White Woman Victim Card like it's going out of business.

Ummm...I was watching Fox Noise tonight and they had their usual segment when they did a panel with voters from both parties. Get this, the a-hole Sean Hannity asks the group of voters who supported Obama to name one accomplishment of his and of course the idiots in the room had no idea...not one single fact or bill or stance on an issue nothing, nothing. Prior to him asking them that question, the guy running the panel asked who was electable versus who was experienced and everyone thought Hillary was more experienced while Obama is more electable.

It is mindblowing that people are so lazy and ignorant not too know what their candidate stands for or an accomplishment of his wow!! All people talk about is his speeches...are Americans that dense?? I think Obama thinks Americans are smarter than they actually are. He may have to lay it out in a speech, long speech where he starts from the very beginning of his career til now!!!

Hillary's experience message really worked, it managed to fool millions. 35 years of experience of fluff!!!!! 35 years ago she was in law school she was 25...26!!! Oh please...being politically active isnt experience. She has never run a town, a state, a country, "a cornerstore" according to Romney. Much of what she has done is more like participation, how will she be able to lead anything. Meanwhile Obama has more elected years in office as an Illinois State Senator and then U.S. Senator. He too went to law school, he was a civil rights attorney and community activist, he was a professor and he has a good record...I have read about alot of what he fought for and was able to implemement (it wasnt hard to find). Hillary has managed to flatten him out. I'm upset that their are dumb people like this journalist from Salon and those voters on Fox News who havent done their homework. In the internet age, this should not be hard!!!!

Sean Hannity found it too be so funny and a reflection of Obama but I think that it was a reflection of those dumb voters who would go as far as to embarass themselves on public television.

As for Hillary being in the White House according to Dick Morris, "so was the pastry chef".
