  • hope you don't mind a lurking hispanic chick...3 comments:
    1. Michelle was beyond awesome. Made my grandson watch it with me and cried at the picture Michelle and her little girls created in the minds of all minority children who will now believe they can achieve anything.
    2. Wish the Clinton's weren't on at all. Jeez...if the woman can't sway her most loyal supporters to support the democratic ticket, how the hell did anyone EVER think she'd be able to reach independent/undecided voters had she won?
    3. For all the bitching the network talking heads did yesterday about not enough red meat, they haven't shown any of the great speeches going on tonight! So political addicts like me watching on web and CSpan are seeing the fighting spirit we wanted to see, but the regular folks out there who only watch networks will again think the Democratic party can't fight worth a shit.
Thanks for letting me vent. This is my FAVORITE blog and I'm so glad you're there to keep it real for us!! Keep up the great work!
  • I don't blame you. I was watching CNN for the first time in years (I get my news from newspapers and blogs) and I always remembered CNN is a quality news station. So, that was my first choice for convention news. BIG MISTAKE!

I'm watching Michelle, failing at trying not to cry, so proud to see my face on TV (and the entirety of who I am as a professional Black woman). I can see the love on the convention floor, it's a great feeling after being so let down by politics. Then these FOOLS on CNN start talking trash. I was literally looking at the TV like "Did you all see the same speech I saw?!" I'm officially done with MSM, I'll stick with C-SPAN from now on.
  • I just heard David Gregory of NBC ask Bill Richardson "So do you think people have buyer's remorse now?
  • I feel ya!
  • don't lurk.

Come on back and post some more! :)
  • Tina: VENT ON!!!! You are ORGANIZED and THOUGHTFUL!!! Thanks!!! :>) :>)

    It takes a village, girl!!! :>) :>)
  • 1. Michelle was beyond awesome. Made my grandson watch it with me and cried at the picture Michelle and her little girls created in the minds of all minority children who will now believe they can achieve anything.

That's why this election is so important. Not just for black people but for all people. If people come out and say "This guy is black so don't vote for him" or "this guy is black so people won't vote for him" what does that say to Hispanics? Asians? Arabs? That they might as well sit down too?
  • 1. I watched Michelle twice last night: she was beautiful, and so were the kids.
    2. But...but...it was inevitable that she would win!
    3. "The Democratic party can't fight worth a shit" IS the story that the MSM wants to circulate.
  • If Obama lost nobody'd retire his debt. They didn't retire Moseley Braun's debt when she ran. Didn't retire Jackson or Sharpton's or anybody black and brown. But we supposed to retire hers? You won't hear NOW or any of the feminists speak on that.

    Boollshyt!!!
  • Good point....
  • black canseco: 3 points!!! Boo-yah!!! :>) :>)
  • John McCain calls himself a maverick, but he votes with George Bush more than 90% of the time...that's not a maverick, that's a sidekick.

    -Bob Casey
  • LOL! now that's a good one.
  • LOL!! I missed it but it's still feels good!

They should come up with an ad showing Bush as the driver of one of those motorcycles with the little buggy car attached with McCain crackin' the crazy azz off-tempo grin he does.

But, seriously... calling him a "sidekick" is an insult to sidekicks everywhere. If they ever was an EMPTY SUIT it's that mf... Lieberman lifelines and all.
  • I will not forgive you for this visual....I cant stop laughing, OMG...I cant get that picture outta my head...and they have on those leather hats with the scarves around their necks....like Snoopy and Woodstock...LOL
  • Texas: Co-signing!!! :>) :>) :>)
  • Harriet Tubman? HARRIET TUBMAN??

You are kidding me, right? She did not bring up Harriet Tubman?

Off all the black women, HRC mentions Harriet Tubman. ( now don't get me wrong, I'm as proud of Harriet Tubman as the next black woman,, and yes, I know she was a New Yorker,,)

Yo, Hill, ever heard of Shirley Chisholm? She was from New York also. She ran for POTUS back in 1972. YOU AIN'T THE FIRST WOMAN TO DO THIS!!!

Yo, Hill, What about Fannie Lou Hamer? There were racist crackers who ran both parties. but the racists ones in the Democratic Party wouldn't even SEAT Fannie Lou Hamer, let alone recognize her to speak.

    Harriet Tubman.... LAWD HA' MERCY!!!!!
  • reading my thoughts. I thought the analogy was very powerful, but there is something about the examples that HRC uses some time that doesn't sit right with me.

Like the time she went to a black church in the South and she had the audacity to say that being in the Senate under Republican majority rule was like being on a plantation, "and you know what I mean..." I wanted to slap her. Because a) neither she nor anyone in that audience has ever been on a plantation, and b) please do not compare the degradation of slavery with being the minority party in the Senate; that is offensive and small minded.

Another apt example is when she was playing up that "disenfranchisement" foolishness toward the end of the primary and comparing it to when Blacks couldn't even vote in primaries. Umm....no. A State breaking the rules and getting stripped of their delegates is not equivalent to racists party leaders prohibiting Blacks from participating in primaries because they believed they were subhuman. Absolutely inappropriate.

Sorry, there is something not right here.

And it would have been kick ass if she mentioned Shirley Chisolm, Fannie Lou Hamer, AND Carol Mosley Braun in her speech. Even that hate mongering Gerri Feraldo was relevant to this occasion.
  • I think using Harriet Tubman was fine. Everyone knows who she was and what she accomplished and just how much she overcame and had to JUST KEEP GOING. It fit for her in a way that can be linked to Obama (IMO) more readily.
  • When she spoke about Harriet and the "keep running" "keep going", I thought she was going to say that's what Obama had done.
  • hmmmm. So you think she's talking about herself.
  • Of course she was. She was also telling her supporters you didn't get me, but you must still help the Democrats anyway. She could have made the story about herself, Barack and Michelle, but she echoed the calls of her primary campaign about being a fighter. She was just throwing black folks a bone by invoking Harriet Tubman's name.
  • I was just feeling relieved that it's over...then I remembered that Bill is on tomorrow, then they'll be campaigning for him. I hope Barack is not making a huge mistake here.
  • I think had they not been at the convention being treated as Democratic leaders, the media would have made such a story of it that it would have made the convention a non-story. The best he can do now is make up for it all on Thursday. At least he will have a chane to respond to anything he didn't like.
  • you would think so, wouldn't u? but that would have been too DECENT and logical.
  • So, does Hillary think she's that black woman in the woods leading the helpless slaves to safety?
  • LOL....yeah she did go back to Harriet....I was like huh? LOL.....oh Lawd, Shirley Chisholm was the first to actually get nominated, but somehow Hillary went back to Harriet....LOL..I dont know why this tickles me so.
  • Carl Bernstein sure looks like he's been rode hard....
  • Why, whatever do you mean?
  • I'm here hoping Hillary has a surprise for us-- a good one.....
  • I don't care.

I'm still reeling from last night's speech by Mrs. Obama.

    Forget the Clinton Dynasty.

After Sen. Obama's eight years as prez, I WANT MICHELLE in the Oval Office.

    WOW! Just WOW!

PS. A very larg STFU to MSNBC crew--especially Norah O'Donnell, who stupidly said the country needed to see that the Obamas were like everyone else.

    Huh?

This is an American couple. How could they not be "like everyone else?"

    I can't stand the cable teevee a**holes!
  • shaw: "I don't care." BIG TIME CO-SIGN!!!!!!! :>) I don't care, either!!! :>)
  • Dems need to buy some TV stations.
  • how is that done?
  • Some nice rich person gets ready when one comes up for sale or starts one- just like Rupert Murdoch If I remember correctly at one point CBS was for sale and Cosby tried to get a group of buyers together but failed.
  • I thought is was fun for Jeanne Most to do a piece on the music...it was fun to see Roland moving to it all...he even pulled some lady walking by and danced with her.

    Fun stuff.
  • they let Roland on the big show at CNN thank God! I have missed him.
  • Oh I forgot to mention Paul Begala danced with Donna Brazile...we should enjoy all this.
  • Angela: Saw it!!! Funny!! :>) :>)
  • Talk about wanting to cut somebody's "nuts" off - James Carville - let me at him.
  • msmartin,

I don't think you want to get close to those nuts.

    ;-)
  • Not really! I am so sick of his sore loser attitude and the way he tries to diminish Barack.
  • To get to those nuts, you'll have to pry them out of Mary's bony little hands.

    Ugh.
  • msmartin: I just want to WATCH!!! Sounds like a plan to me!!! :>) :>)
  • On a more serious note, I heard a Republican guest on one of the talk shows tonight say in so many words that any objective person would have to say that last night Michelle knocked it out of the park.

    Amen.
  • Which is why they dispatched Glen Beck to CNN to say that he thought it was Michelle who told her husband not to pick Hillary for VP.
  • And withing 24 hours, the new talking point for the Hillbots and nitwits to run with will be Michelle Obama told Barack "its her or me!!"....maybe she threw hot grits at him as well which is why he wasnt in Denver. Just wait.
  • Which is why I think that hug and chat between Hillary and Michelle at the Emily's list event is important to counteract any new rumours the Repubs are cooking up.

I hope after Hillary's speech, that Michelle, the girls, Hillary and Chelsea appear on stage together. I could care less if it's genuine...as long as they neutralize any Repub treachery.
  • This is so funny- glad I am checking all comments before I go to bed.
  • Glenn Beck is an idiot!
  • Ah....but they are treacherous little bastards though, aren't they?
  • true true. You are correct. An obvious attempt to deflate any inroads Michelle Obama made last night.
  • i don't care WHO told Obama not to pick that old hag. The point is: she's OUTTA here! When is this "roll call" shin-dig supposed to happen?
  • nickwah22: If she was REALLY sincere, she would STOP that FOOLISH ROLL CALL VOTE NOW!!!!!
  • So, reported on CNN by Hilary Rosen:

Hillary and Michelle were backstage at the Emily's List event where they both spoke today. Hillary went up and hugged Michelle, and praised her speech. Chelsea was there, and they stood together and spoke for a while.
  • TruthSeeker: This is directed to the report - NOT YOU!! :>) :>)

    ANNNND!???
  • Oh..I forgot,....Bob Johnson was on, he was on the convention floor and was commenting on what Hillary's speech would be. He said he's behind Barack Obama and has raised $200,000 for Obama without being asked by the campaign...(LOL).

So a second ago, Wolf asks Roland about this. Roland says don't think Bob Johnson is doing this out of the goodness of his heart. He HAS to do it. Roland says Bob got his butt kicked by his constituency and he has to be behind Barack now to save his own hide.
  • LOL!! Bob Johnson can jig with the best of'em!
  • Jig and Coon.
  • I love Roland because he respresents black folks well. IMO, he manages to have fun and share his opinion without getting too caught up on all the hateration and ignorance of his counterparts. It's such a slippery slope.
  • LOL, true Miranda! But look at BET now, everyone is shucking and jiving on MTV Black (that's what I call BET in everyday conversations).
  • I'm sorry I missed this. But, it is CNN and ROland's really the only consistent reason to watch. But, they were the Clinton News Network last night, when it was nothing about HIllpatine...I believe tonight they will be insufferable.
  • TruthSeeker: Thanks for bringing the TRUTH!!!!! :>) :>)
  • Did everyone read this Media Matters piece about the press's twisting of the faux Clinton-Obama feud and how it reflects poorly on the both of them:

    http://mediamatters.org/columns/200808260005
  • Wow, is that Charles Barkley (on CNN) at the DNC?

If I see Clarence Thomas pop up at this convention, I'll take that as the last sign of the apocalypse and get ready to meet King Jesus.

On a side note: I just had to mute the volume on my computer from the auto-play of the qik footage. It was fine earlier today and last night. Thanks! Now, it's more garble.
  • I had to mute too-
  • I swear he said he wanted to run as an Independent, and how he would win Alabama. Interesting.

Michelle killed it last night, and you have to love Mr. Kennedy.

But did anyone see Dennis Kucinich speech tonight? He was on it! Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BVrqpeNTpI
  • If I see Clarence Thomas pop up at this convention, I'll take that as the last sign of the apocalypse and get ready to meet King Jesus.

BWA HA HA HA HA AH HA

    Hilarious
  • Where is Rachel Maddow? Screw this, I'm tired of this tip-toeing crap.
  • She's on MSNBC. She's been getting into it with The Bigot. I can't wait til her show comes out.
  • Here are some ridiculous HRC supporters claiming they have a "17 page document" by a "congressional investigator" proving that Obama went to a muslim school. Racists!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6UxxhYa8K0s
  • I'm pretty sure what they have is a script from an X-files episode.
  • If you didn't see Dennis Kucinich today, then you miss a treat. The little man rocked it! I was at work watching C-Span and had to pause for a minute because I noticed a little roar coming out of his mouth. Bottom line....WAKE UP AMERICA!

A must see folks....a must see....

    Little Man Kucinich Rocks!
  • He preached!
  • I am so sick of these screeching parrots and the "we want our voices respected" bullshyt. Barack Obama did not break the rules. The DNC did not give Barack Obama the nomination. This "process" that these shriveled up old ladies and their wussified male friends keep calling unfair, was perfectly fair BEFORE their candidate of choice LOST....now all of a sudden its the damn jim-crow-DNC rules?? Give me a freaking break.
  • What I think is ridiculous is that regular people are supposed to help Hil retire her debt-- she's a millionaire and connected. Why should we gave her a buck. Have Chelsea get a part time job.
  • This is yet another example of the delusionary state of the Hillbots. Your candidate IS BROKE. Know what broke means? It means you really need to SIT YO AZZ DOWN. Instead, these bitter betties have the gall to expect Obama to raise the damn money to pay off her debt. Its entitlement to the umpteenth degree. I cant even wrap my head around that kind of mindset.
  • delfinajones: "Have Chelsea get a part time job!" Way 2 funny!!! LOL :>) :>)
  • If you missed NY Gov. David Paterson, again...you missed a treat. Brotha was funny and on point.

Paterson on McCain: If he is the answer, then the question must be ridiculous.

    Brotha Paterson
  • I love how this is the Hillary post and the few mentions of her there are, are about her in terms of not looking forward to what she as to say, lol! I guess we are really fed up with her... it's shame it has reached this point. I used to feel sorry for the way the Republican's lambasted her for years. I never understood why they hated her so much.

I wonder if she'll really re-run in 2012, I'm intrigued to see how she will try that with the Democratic loyal based of Black folk that have a sour taste in their mouths because of her tactics. <sarcasm> Maybe all the McCain people reaching out to the PUMAs and HillBilly Whiners will repay the favor and vote for her! It's not like they've spent the last 10 years endlessly insulting her :D </sarcasm>

Oooh, I heard about Kucinich getting a lot of standing ovations for his speech earlier today. It's not on youtube, can someone on jjp lemme know where I can watch a clip? Here's an article I found about it: http://www.denverpost.com/business/ci_10307885
  • I posted it below.
  • Thank you, appreciate it!
  • Kinda off topic but..............sweet Jesus, these people have NO rhythm. Where did they find THESE Democrats?? They cant dance worth a damn.
  • I was thinking the same thing as I found myself answering email and going to the refrigerator--I think they are all victims of harsh toilet training.
These folks have no idea how to inspire people.
  • You are too funny! I was writing the same thing on another blog. You gotta give it to them, they are having a good time.
  • OMIGOD- now he's bringing up Thomas Jefferson--how inspiring!!!!!
  • Did anyone catch the President of NOW being interviewed by Keith Olberman or Chris Mathews? When asked what do you say about Clinton supporters who are voting for McCain she said, " There is no one who supports women's issues supporting McCain. Obama has a record of supporting women's issues, McCain does not." When pressed, she stated "There is no way to support women's issues and support McCain."

    Nuff said.
  • Finally, someone breaking it down plain and simple.
  • She still wasn't enthusiastic enuff for me... She kinda hemmed and hawed at first... Here's the question I have... Why are Hillary's supporters mad at Barack? They say she was mistreated and disrespected... But not by Barack. Maybe by the news media and the the people at MSNBC, but not by Barack and his campaign... He was much more gracious to him than she was to him... I guess I have to familiarize myself with this "entitlement" concept. That's the only thing I can think of.
  • Motor: Please refer to Father Pfleiger's brief "sermon" on "ENTITLEMENT!"

    THE END!!! [Thanks taritac! :>)]
  • Who talked to Gov. Ed Rendell?? He sure is talking up Obama the way its supposed to be done with Katie Couric...I made a mistake in flipping to CBS but got stuck on him being so pro-Obama. Did some folks get a talking too today?
  • Carville also got a spanking because he is towing the party line today unlike yesterday.

They both can go just in the lake.
  • Schweitzer is on right now on C-span. He's the governor of Montana. He would have been a good choice in my opinion for veep. Got the crowd cheering.
He's gonna be good for the country no matter how he serves.
  • WOW! He really rocked it! Didn't know him before tonight, but will definitely keep an eye on him in the future.
  • Agreed
  • He was awesome! Got everybody up on their feet and fired up
  • I love the Governor Cowboy..

If only he had been in his 2nd term.

    He rocks.
  • I wish he had been the keynote speaker.
  • I bet the Clinton's and Bill Richardson won't be within 100 feet of each other at this convention. Bill Richardson just said that Bill Clinton is still mad at him... Like they say, if you want a friend in politics, get a dog.
  • Is Bill Clinton's nose growing?
  • He looks like a cartoon
  • W.C. Fields
  • pinocchio. See, he's not a real boy and he lies.

    Heh
  • Yes, he just does not look well. It was funny as hell how the camera kept panning to the adoring, loving husband. Yeah, right.
Like he is so in love.

I did notice the video and her speech (even Chelsea) made absolutely no mention of him. I think even the Clinton women wanted to disassociate from him.

In the end, I think she brought it home.Time will tell over the next few months.
  • I was thinking that too...he looks like he should be in Beetle Bailey.
  • I was thinking the same...wtf??
  • Noses and ears get bigger with age- it's espcially apparent on men, and that's why Bill looks crazy.
  • She's cool, she's calm..........."Shame on you Barack!!!!!!"
  • She needs to leave the orange to Michelle.
  • hey my peeps please go over 2 rumproast. com and check out the disgust video that some puma people made...PUMA PAC members think blackface and other racist garbage is “funny”
  • Ok, I heard Anderson say something about Hillary's speech being late...and that the O people didn't get a final draft. Now, I don't know if this is true or another Repub trick story.
  • Is this normal for the loser to get a video retrospective in addition to a speech?
  • This all she'll be getting for a long long time after Obama wins..
  • Awww...shit...here we go folks
  • and Bill got himself a black guy standing next to him...Michelle beter get to smiling, though
  • Hi everyone!!

I'm looking forward to Hillary's speech. I like how they changed the signs from her primary campaign 's to these nice, "non-presidential" white ones.

    Here we go!!
  • Maybe a PUMA will set herself on fire--okay I will try and listen...
  • There's supposed to be a group of Obama supporters who are going to stand sideways or something while Hill speaks... Nice Orange suit though... I think she's really onboard for Barack, it's her racist supporters that are the issue... I keep thinking about that crazy new york lady at the credentials committee meeting.
  • You mean Harriet "Inadequate Black Man" Christianson?

I think a lot of the reports of division are overblown, too.
  • I did see her right? I told my husband there were a group of five or so of the wackos on the floor.

I think some of her wealty female fundraisers were sitting next to Bill. I can't think of her name, the one he was jabbering to.
  • She looks good.

Just jumped into the fray about unity. I guess there is no use in beating around the bush.
  • OMG, look at Michelle's face!!
  • Missed it! Please tell us.
  • She's clapping, standing, but...she just looks...cautious?
  • TruthSeeker: Can you think of what she is thinking??? B%$&H!!! :>) :>)
  • Bill looks like he's about to cry.
  • I've seen that face before.
  • WTF was that video...you'd think she is the fuggin nominee.
  • That's what i thought. Ah the Clinton's...never pass up an opportunity for self promotion.
  • Then we already know Barack's is going to be an oscar winner.
  • NO WAY, NO HOW, NO McCain!!! Line of the night!
  • No way, no how, no McCain. I think I like that.
  • That was pretty good.
  • Now it's all about Hillary.
  • She wants to support OBAMA but she wanders back to herself and her thoughts.
  • Somebody needs to tell the woman this is not a primary speech, the primaries are over.
  • I'm okay with that. There is nothing wrong with her celebrating her campaign, because it was historic and meant a lot to a lot of people.

That being said, she BETTER come correct for Barack tonight!
  • Me, me, me, me!!!!!
  • I am ignoring all of it, just checking in to the internet LIGHTLY so I don't care what Hilary has to say tonight.

But you printed a very flattering picture of her. That's lovely. Well done. Might as well be gracious. Let's not hold her nuttiest so-called supporters against her...
  • Leila,

    the picture was intentional.
  • i am not watching tonight. i really enjoyed the obama daughters last night. they were fun, cute, real, and inspiring. and cut through all the scary bullshit that is being thrown around. i don't want to have them replaced by something hillary does or something some john doofus king says.
  • I'm with you, I'm not watching it either, but I'm TIVO'ing it, and if it's any good, I might watch it, but probably not.
  • I am soooooo glad I got cable!

I'll check the convention out on Thursday.
  • Okay, talk to your crazy ass followers now.
  • OK, she's winning me over now. "Were you in it just for me??" that's the money line.
  • Okay, she's getting close-- admonishing people that they shouldn't be in it for Obama.

But, it's not just about electing some generic Democrat. WHERE ARE THE KUDOS FOR OBAMA???
  • Got to give her props for recognizing Stephanie Tubbs-Jones and the son. Hillary's got that scorpio-loyalty trait...is she weren't so loyal to Mark Penn she might've done better.
  • But as Craig would point out, saddled with a Leo.

    LOL
  • hillary clinton. i trust her as far as i could throw her.
  • WTF--Is Bill waving at the crowd?
  • He can't help it. He thinks it's still his show.
  • I read somewhere glancingly ('cause I'm trying to stay out of it in hopes they'll go away) that the PUMAs are being funded by the Republicans or their surrogates.

Really I think it's all overblown, and I think outsiders want to divide the party. Look, every time there's a riot at an anti-war or anti-globalization demonstration, and they say that mysterious black-hooded "anarchists" did it, I assume that these were paid provacateurs from some branch of the government. The FBI did it for years. Why wouldn't the Republicans try to disrupt the convention and the election by promoting this PUMA stuff?

Nobody who really cares about women's issues would be this poisonous toward a person with Barack's voting record.
  • i agree on all points. i never thought this puma nonsense had any grounding in reality. certainly not enough to affect the outcome of the election. more of the tired politics of fear. just the homegrown version.
  • Hi guys,

I've just come back from a 4 day vay-kay back home to New Orleans, and it really gave me a new purspective on this election seaon. Some of it good, some of it bad. The good, everyone I know is talking about Obama. I went to a birthday party for my aunts and uncles, and the dj was talking up Obama. I'm sure it I can get them all registered and get them to the polling place they will be voting for Barack.

Now the bad: I had to have a somewhat lengthy disscussion with my aunt about Obama being "raised a Muslim". What's interesting bout this is that I am AA so is my aunt, and I was sorta shocked that she truly believed it. She said she read it in "Newsweek". I tried to school her on the truth, but she older, and she just wouldn't let it go, but she still will be voting for him.

It made me sad, because if our own people believe that Obama was "raised Muslim", then there is no way we will be able to change other "people" mind. Anyway, it shook me a little.

P.S. I'm catching up on the convention coverage, and I've decided to give up on CNN for the duration of the convention coverage, and I'm barely keeping up with MSNBC. Michelle Obama was fantastic.
  • Back to her universal health care plan-- she is doing good cop bad cop all by herself.
  • She would have been a good VP candidate... I can't stand her personally, but she's a good politician.... She's hammering McCain.
  • gotta give her credit....she kicked ass and was the best speech of the night. Any puma's who still won't vote barack were the limbaugh republicans and wouldn't have voted for him under ANY circumstances.
  • She did speak to the supporters who are crazy. I have to admit that.
  • That's the paradox of Hillary. She definitely has some good qualities, but there's this ugly side that just sabotages anything good.

The Harriet Tubman line was good, and the one about not being there just for her, but that Marine or the mom fighting cancer.

    ...now for the pundit frenzy.
  • I really appreciated the Harret Tubman reference...and having Stephanie Tubbs-Jones's SON sit next to Bill...Dem Clintons are serious bout gettin Negroes to love them again.
  • TruthSeeker,

I agree. She takes one step forward, but two steps back.

Someone had a great analogy over the radio this morning. You can't light a stick of dynamite, step back and say you're sorry for whatever happens as a consequence. People are responsible for the consequences of their actions.

A lot of people tried to talk to the Clintons before this went too far. Ted Kennedy tried to talk to the Clintons; Clyburne tried to get to talk to them.

But they've got tunnel vision when it comes to obtaining power. That's a blessing and a curse. It's a blessing when that focus gets used to help others. But it's a curse when that same power gets used for selfish reasons.

I remain of the opinion that she HURT the Democratic Party and its chances by extending the primary season well beyond what was necessary. She could have finished the primaries without trying to sabotage Obama like she did. In fact, many of those Hillary statements being used by McCain right now were spoken well after she lost a realistic, mathematical chance, to win the nomination. She could have done a Mike Huckabee and stayed in the race without going negative and writing 6 or 7 campaign ads for McCain. . . without endorsing McCain at Obama's expense.

She did not do that. The damage has been done, and her speech (as great as it was) will not make up for that.

She's got to follow her speech with action. Concrete action. She needs to campaign like crazy for Obama this Fall. That means campaigning in places like OH and PA as much as possible.

And she needs to tell her surrogates to chill out as well. She sends mixed signals far too often. She'll say she supports Obama, but then one of her aides, or supporters (super delegates like Rep. Sanchez of CA) say something stupid and divisive that undercuts Obama's campaign. She might not have control over the PUMAs (though I'm not completely sold that she doesn't), but she should have a lot more control over some of those super delegates and her husband, Bill Clinton . . . Bill Clinton, who just this past week praised John McCain's energy plan.

Again. One step forward and two steps back.

I appreciate her speech today. But I'm not jumping on the bandwagon to say that this makes up for her past transgressions.

Again. . . I really liked her speech. She did a very good job tonight. And I thank her for that. Furthermore, I'm pleased as punch if she's really on board to make this happen.

But those McCain ads are still out there. She helped write them.
  • B-Serious: Great analysis!!! CO-SIGNING TOTALLY!!! :>) :>)
  • I'm satisfied. I was satisfied that she gave a great soundbite when she asked if they were in it just for her.
  • no, she isn't. her way of politicking is dead. tired. OLD-hat.
  • I don't think she was strong enough in her support for Obama.
  • I didn't either. I heard places where she could have inserted his name and didn't. She inserted his name as an afterthought.
  • msmartin: AGREED!!!! Boring!!!
  • weak!
  • Before I open my bottle of haterade, I'd like to read what everyone else thinks.
  • feel free to twist off that cap any minute now!!!
  • Keith Olberman, "a lot about her". I agree.
  • msmartin: YOU BET!!!!! :>)
  • Yes. She could have talked about Obama's great candidacy. As with the Clinton's, it's just never quite ...right.
  • Rikyrah: CATHARSIS OVER -YET!!!!!!?????????
  • I am so glad this is over. One more speech and the Clintons can retire. I don't need to see them again for a long while.
  • yeah. like NEVER.
  • Hillary can't take some of those comments back from the primaries (they're being used in McCain ads as we speak).

    BUT . . .

I'll give credit where credit is due. This was a very good speech.

Now . . . let's see if she backs it up by campaigning like crazy for Obama??? We shall see.
  • It was a good speech, but I would have liked to have heard Obama more often. The other parts though, especially the parts about McCain were good.
  • Shyt ya'll, I'm motivated again...

She did what she needed to do. If the PUMAs are still talkin smack after that speech, then they really need to gone join the Republican Party.

Let's see how Joe Biden does tomorrow. Compare Joe to Hillary. See who's more effective.
  • now it's the real problem, Bill tomorrow.
  • Please Joe....don't say "bullshit" tomorrow
  • actually, say bullshit Joe...

As long as Joe is ' riding or dying', whatever he says will be cool with me..LOL
  • i think joe is gonna keep it VERY real. he'll deliver something good, i'm sure.
  • her speech was weak. PERIOD.

the bright side: perhaps this will finally shut up the corporate media hags.
  • I agree, I was bored a waiting for it to end.
  • i'm sorry u guys but i loved that speech!!!!.......esp when she asked her supporters the question about whether they were in for just her
  • esp when she asked her supporters the question about whether they were in for just her

That part was brilliant IMO. Just brilliant. Looping back around to the stories of the three people she mentioned and tying it to the greater good.

Don't know overall what I thought but that was crucial IMO -- got right to the crux of the matter: Are you selfish and ego-driven or are you for the collective good, for the well-being of all of us?

Her primary campaign was all about her, but this rhetorically shifted the terms. If anyone who needed to hear this was listening.
  • To add to what I just posted below in agreement with the second part of barry4obama's comment ... here's the quote, which is on the front page at dkos:

I want you to ask yourselves: Were you in this campaign just for me? Or were you in it for that young Marine and others like him? Were you in it for that mom struggling with cancer while raising her kids? Were you in it for that boy and his mom surviving on the minimum wage? Were you in it for all the people in this country who feel invisible?

    There it is.
  • I think she did a good job. Her speech would have been even more powerful to those who doubt her motivation if she hadn't sunk so low in her tactics prior to tonight.
  • yeah, she fed the wolves when she shared that she was not vetted. I don't know. I hope it sticks. Where is Rachel?
  • yeah, she fed the wolves when she shared that she was not vetted. I don't know. I hope it sticks. Where is Rachel?
  • isonprize: That KEEP GOING mantra was precisely for HER!!!!!!!
  • You're right it was.
  • She gave a great speech, but she did not go against anything she said about him in the primaries. I wanted her to come out and say that she was WRONG about Obama, that he is ready to lead, that she believes he can be Commander in Chief.

There is no reason McCain has to remove those ads from the air. She didn't say anything that would shut them down.

I am not very happy. Her support of Obama was rather tepid. Ah well. At least it's over. Maybe Bill will redeem the two of them (not likely as they are saying he will NOT be at Obama's acceptance on Thursday).
  • I assume Bill will be reminding us of all his accomplishments ...I thought this was supposed to be about Obama. This is ridiculous. I also felt Hil was sending subtle messages to her followers...
  • Oh, she was definitely setting herself up to run. It was a campaign speech, FOR SURE!! I kept waiting to hear her talk more about Sen. Obama than herself.

Never happened. IMHO, This speech was okay, but not what it could have been.
  • taritac: "Her support of Obama is was RATHER TEPID!!!" C0-SIGNING!!! :>)
  • McCain just released a statement saying as much, that Hillary did not alter her assessment that Obama is ready to lead.
  • Yep. Not surprised. I hate to say this, but I think this speech was a disaster. It's going to be picked apart, and not unfairly.

    Sigh.
  • pjamma: AGREED.

But Dark Sith thought that she stated/implied this!!! WHAT!!!!!????
  • McCain's campaign was listening as closely as you and issued a statement saying the same thing you did - she didn't take it back - she didn't say he was ready to be commander and chief.
  • Andrea "I am still NOT going to support Mr. Obama Mitchell is trying to make that 79 year old women CRY and continue to FAWN over billary!!! YUK!!!!!
  • who is this stupid woman on CNN?
  • But the little lady didn't fall for it. She was adament about her support for Barack.
  • Did anyone notice that she DID NOT SAY THAT SHE WAS A WIFE!!!??

She STR8 DISSED BULL!!!!!!! Good!! :>)
  • interesting....
  • if she has any spine left, she'll divorce him in '09.
  • Yep. I noticed.
  • As for Tina, the Hispanic sister who has been 'lurking' YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!! At this point, I only watch it on C-SPAN. The rest are just shills for the corporate media.

Here's a good one that didn't get any MSM play!!!

Dennis Kucinich - I didn't know he moonlighted as a Baptist preacher.... (wink!!)
  • The audience was sufficiently fired up...which is a positive.

Michelle did not look that at ease.

Are you guys watching CNN? There's a black woman Hillary supporter who I swear is mentally ill.
  • aren't they all???
  • She identifies with women's sufferage but not the African American experience??
  • Hillary has been a professional politician for almost eight years, I would expect her to be comfortable in front of crowds. I think Michelle will get more comfortable as time goes on.
  • I wasn't referring to Michelle during her speech.....I talking about how Michelle looked during Hillary's speech!
  • Oh sorry! I misread your post.
  • Dont' swear.......that mammy IS mentally ill. She is straight up on in line for a size 22 strait jacket, make no mistake. It was bad enough she was bawling with those darn Shirley Temple curls, but to get all overwhelmed like that?? That woman needs serious help.
  • Oh snap!!! I know I wasn't crazy. I was editing my post to ask why a grown woman had ringlets and a barrette in her hair, but someone replied and it was too late!

Suzanne had to fine the one mentally ill, black female Hillary supporter? What grown woman can't get a hold of her emotions on national tv when someone hasn't even died?
  • TruthSeeker: YEP!! PITIFUL!!!!!
  • Am I the only one seeing this coon on CNN right now? I can not believe this shyt.
  • OMG I was getting ready to post about that shuck and buck show! LMAO!!
  • I switched to CNN but I see an ad-- what was going on?
  • Then right after they air the McCain ad about Hillary told the truth and Barack didn't like it.
  • Webb: SAW HER!! Forgot her anti-CATHARTIC MEDS!!! PITIFUL!!!! :>) :>)
  • I am a Clinton hater from day one. I never thought he was psychologically suited for the Presidency. He proved it from day one. Hilliary actions towards the powerless women he used like toilet paper told me what she was about.

Then because I wanted to hear what Hilliary had to say I have not listened to anything so I debated "D" all day. Then she spoke and I couldn't believe what she was saying. It was so positive. But I am a cold blooded hot head about what I believe so I look to see what other people are seeing.

And I read about the video. I'll look for it on you tube. but it tells me, "They were who we thought they were". I will not trust them no matter what happens. To do so is to put your life in peril.
  • i'm with you, rob. NEVER supported the clintons, EVER!!! never understood the hype in the 90s. all i had to do was look at bill's eyes. i guess that came from spending most of my summers in the south. i knew his 'look' very well.
  • I think I know what you mean. Something predatory.
  • Okay, Rob M,

You get my vote for "BONAFIDE HATERADE CREDENTIALS"!!!
  • Rob M: "I will not TRUST them no matter what happens!" Co-signing!!!

    SSSSSnakes!!!
  • Anyone watching CNN???? Ann Price Mills (Black woman) having an emotional moment saying that Hillary just proved with her speech that SHE is presidential. Doesn't know if she is going to vote but she knows that she won't vote for McCain but isn't sure if she will cast her personal vote for Obama. What??? Not voting for Obama is voting for McCain!

She twasn't listening to her presidential candidate of choice! Ugh...you can't convince people if they don't want to listen.
  • That woman is ill, and whoever that was standing beside her should be ashamed for not seeking out the obvious psychological treatment that this woman needs. She was simply not well. I don't give a damn what anybody says, that woman was slipping into the abyss of dementia.
  • I know!!! It was irritatingly painful to watch.
  • Miranda: LOL! :>) :>)
  • i just saw a black lady on cnn that is a clinton delegate from new york who says that she still isn't sold on barack and that he has 2 months 2 convince her or else she will not vote at all........................i'm sorry but if she doesn't vote then she doesn't have a right 2 complain about shit
  • definitely insane--
  • barry4obama: The only thing she was missing was her HANDKERCHIEF!!!! :>)
  • James Carville reminds me of a talking penis-
  • OMG - that's it. RAOTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
  • LOL. Thank you for making me have to wipe my computer down after choking on my water!
  • OMG

I'm howling with laughter. Funniest thing I've read in six months.
  • delfinajones: ROFLMAO!!!!!!:>) :>) :>) :>) :>)

How do we shut him up??

    I know!! A cond*m!!!!! :>) :>) :>)
  • LMAO. truer words have never been said.
  • Oh, Goodness! U're silly!
  • my hispanic sister tina, please don't lurk....i'm sure everybody agrees with me when i say all are welcome here.........................what really pisses me off about the delegat that was just on cnn is the fact that she even admitted that our people have been killed for trying 2 vote and yet she is willing 2 throw it away just because her candidate lost
  • That heifer was chemically imbalanced.
  • I have it on Tivo.

So, JJP, do I watch it or not? Does it go on the convention tape for posterity?

What's your grade of the speech?
  • D+
  • you know my expectations were so low; I guess I will have to wait on the input of some of you more diehard politcal junkies.
  • yours couldn't POSSIBLY have been lower than mine--which is why i gave her a D+. otherwise, i'd have given the bitch an F.
  • If this were a speech for a generic Democrat, I would give it an A.

But because Hillary did nothing to rebut her attacks on Barack about being ready to lead and to be CinC, it gets an F.

She knows and sees the ads already out there, using her words against our candidate. McCain already has his press release out saying she didn't do anything to rebut them. She knows what she was supposed to do. She didn't have to fawn over him. All she had to do was say that they had a hard-fought primary, and through it, he had earned her respect as a leader, and that he had proven to her that he was ready to be CinC.

We didn't get any of that. We got nothing like that. I am really upset with her, because I was really ready to love, support, and respect her again. Only after November 4th will I know whether or not I can forgive her.
  • her level of 'attack' against mccain will NEVER meet the level she used against barack. she is not a democrat.
  • Well, when you put it into that context, that speech was bullshit. Thanks for reminding me.
  • You know, I'm all for moving on, but you do have a point. I thought she could have hit him harder honestly. But what is really telling to me is that she still considers McCain a "friend" in the first place. Sorry, but if anybody made an inappropriate joke about my daughter to get laughs for a crowd, they would no longer be my friend; they would be lucky if I didn't spit on them whenever we met.

I'm just sayin' The more I think about that, the more that I think that a lot of this is pure bullshit with a pretty bow on it.
  • That "friend" thing is code....to show there's a clique and Barack is not included. Whenever Barack meets with a world leader, McCain comes out and says 'I know so and so, he's my FRIEND' Hillary said that she knows John McCain, they are friends and John passes the commander in chief test but Barack doesn't.

There's a clique of the acceptable people, and Barack is never included. I'm pretty sure I didn't hear Hillary call Barack her friend in her speech tonight.

Barack better step up and take control of this thing. What the hell was he campaigning for anyway? Why was Biden able to attend the convention but not Barack??? Are you telling me the appearances he made in the last 2 days were critical? This is the first convention I've watched. Is it normal for the nominee to be absent the first 3 days???
  • Yeah, I don't know why Barack isn't there. It seems kind of weird. But I can't speak from experience because I usually only watch the nominee's speech at the end.

I think Barack is and has been in control. In general, the convention is going well. But I UNDERSTAND, sista, the panic you are feeling. You described it perfectly-- Clinton's speech told us implicitly that Barack is not one of us. Biden is one of us. McCain is one of us. Barack is not.

I just have to have faith that Barack is going to bring this ship back around. He is savvy as hell. Just like TRW wrote, Obama is self-made, and he's got their numbers. He did not get here on his daddy's or spouse's coattails. He got here on his own. He can do it. YES HE CAN!
  • The message is clear. When you're in "The Inner Circle" even if you make a crude joke about my daughter, you're still one of us.

Is Barack trying to be accepted in the inner circle, or is he trying to create his own circle? They will NEVER accept him! No matter how polite, or clean he is, or respectful he is to them!! They don't understand decency. They understand POWER!

    I'm not panicked.

    I'm angry.

I am furious with Barack Obama. I am fed up with the goody-two-shoes, scouts honour bullshit.

Barack better put on his goddamned ninja suit and start slashing some ankles under the table!

How many times is he going to be made a fool of before he plays hardball?

He shows up at that church all earnest 'n all, ready to tell his story. He walked right into a trap, where Rick Warren and McCain set him up with a phony coin toss that supposedly took place without witness. Warren and McCain were winking and nodding to each other while Barack sat there looking like a chump! Why couldn't he outsmart them?

He shows up at the ABC debate and walks right into a trap with Hillary, Stephanopoulus and Gibson where the mission was to take him down. They all pile on him about a flag pin, and he doesn't turn it around on them that none of them were wearing pins!! Why does he keep thinking these people will give him a fair shake?

He comes back from a successful trip abroad, he walks right into a sucker punch where McCain accuses him of playing the race card. No one in his campaign points out that McCain actually did put his face on currency, and put it in an ad to mock him....which is what Barack was referring to on the stump.

WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON???!!

Do they know something we don't? Do they know they've already won by a landslide and they're just letting it all hang out 'till November?

Yeah, I know some people will say it doesn't matter 'cause he'll win anyway. But what benefit is it if everybody thinks you're a patsy?

Well, the last thing I'm watching is the INVESCO speech. If he doesn't kick some ass. If he repudiates and rejects another person for telling the truth. If he comes with some mealy mouthed bullshit about how people are tired of the same old politics and forget that people are also VERY ANGRY. If he doesn't tap into that righteous outrage. If he doesn't walk out there with his shoulders square and his chest out like he owns that shit. Then I don't want to hear another thing about "skinny, but tough". I'm tuned out for the rest of the season.

IT'S TIME TO ACT LIKE YOU OWN IT, BARACK!!!!!! IT DOES MATTER!!!!
  • you are right about the ' friend' thing. But, what else is there to be expected.

I don't remember seeing John Kerry in 2004 until he came out and did the salute thing. Am I wrong?
  • Nominees don't show up at conventions until the day they accept the nomination.
  • C- . I don't think it goes down in history. I don't think it makes it through the 24 hour news cycle. The last speech that should go down in posterity from this campaign is the the concession speech, the day she appeared with Obama.

Make sure you have room on the tape for Bill. I bet money he says "I am not a racist" and it will be classic.
  • LOL!
  • Sure, watch it so that we can see what you thought.

C on my grading scale. I think she said most of what needed to be said but she had sunk so low prior that it would have taken much more to bring her out of the hole that she dug.

    No...to the convention tape save.
  • BlackButterfly: Co-signing on the C! :>)
  • I chose not to watch it. I'm really not in the mood to stomach entitlement and hypocrites in action. I'm sure the politics-lover in me will try to find a clip on youtube so I can check it out for myself sometime tomorrow. Until that time, I will amuse myself with all of your views. You guys are probably the most astute, and hilarious, bunch of political commentators I've found for a minute. Soooooo glad I found this blog. *sniff**sniff*
  • Fast forward through the video. It will "piss" you off. The speech is good. I'll give it an A.
  • i'm sorry u guys, but i'm still pissed about the black woman that was interviewed on CNN...i just can't get over it
  • You know, I can get that she is invested in Hillary, because that is her candidate, but I still thought it was a bit much.

I find it funny that everyone discounts Obama's experience. The truth of the matter is that while both Hillary and McCain may be good public servants, both were helped significantly by their spouses. For McCain it was Cindy's money and her father's connections--as well as the legacy of his father and grandfather that got him through the academy. For Hillary it was her connections as first lady of Arkansas and the White House.

On the other hand, for Obama he had to do the leg work himself. He had to make those connections, he had to get people to believe in him, he had to raise money when everybody was reluctant to give him a second look. That speaks a lot to me. At the end of the day, he is a self made man. He is where he is because of his hard work and his abilities. Yes, he received help from others along the way, but definitely not to the extent as Hillary or McCain. So that woman, while emotional by her candidate's loss, is foolish to discount Obama.

She can claim that Obama doesn't deserve to be where he is because he lacks that experience, but facts are facts. The fact is McCain went bankrupt last summer and his campaign was on the verge of collapse. The fact is Hillary is still $25 million in debt. But Obama, who did not have the connections of either of them when he started this race, has broken all records for fundraising. The fact is McCain has run for the presidency two times before, and Hillary, has been building her organization for some years. But it is also a fact Obama is building one of the most impressive political organizations that the Democratic party has ever seen. These things speak to me. Obama may not have the supposed qualifications that this lady is looking at, but he has done quite well for himself despite the odds. He has been able to attract top talent, and do the impossible.

Sorry, I am being too wordy here, but it really pisses me off that people keep pushing this theme that Obama needs Hillary; he doesn't. They are not a good match and instead of Democrats moaning, groaning, and knashing their teeth, I wish these people would grow a pair and either organize to get more people registered and signed up for Obama events, or go and sit down somewhere and STFU!!!!!

    I'm going to bed.
  • I love this. You're so on point, it's scary.
  • This is a point that I don't believe has ever been made. He is a self-made man (with the help of his wife).
  • The reason he probably hasn't made it yet is that it would be so utterly insulting to Hillary and McCain. True, but insulting.

That would only "force" the Refucklicans to bring out the "Chicago style politics" and Ayers and Jeremiah Wright memes. Because Obama is not supposed to know any people. If he knows them, then all of their sins and misdeeds automatically confer to him.
  • Also, TRW, you are RIGHT ON. Obama is self-made. That isn't said enough. Thank you for making that point.
  • He IS self-made and it's not acknowledged. If Obama were White, it would the Horatio Alger versus the Spoiled Son who became a Kept Man while pimping his military service to a Senate Seat.
  • WORD.
  • I just heard a pundit call Barack a self-made man. I don't remember if he was last week or before that, don't remember who even said it, but I heard it recently.
  • i'm glad i missed her. the c-span callers are more interesting.
  • That heifer on CNN.....everybody probably knows somebody like this...its a cousin or aunt or godsister or somebody. Everybody knows that person who can get wrapped up in some cause or project or something and it becomes their life and then they start getting on everybody's nerves, calling and worrying the hell outta you. You avoid their calls, always pretending you not there. If its a relative, when you see the car pull up at the family reunion or some gathering you say "oh lawd, here come Geraldine (its usually a Geraldine or a Tammie, some name like that).....and you all know Geraldine is one wrong turn from full blown crazy. Well that was her tonight looking like a dumb pickaninny on live TV crying over Miss Hillary.
  • ...LOL!!! Then you shut the lights off, and everybody holds their breath till she stops knocking on the door....hahaha.

Then this woman was mumbling at the end about "his resume". What the hell? She's criticizing Barack's resume????????
  • miranda u are so right on bout that woman being ill or something is really wrong with her dumb ass.......i am so loving the comments in here 2nite(sitting in the back of the church with my MLK fan and waving a hanky saying "preach preacher"
  • I'm more angry with Suzanne Malvauex for letting that *#*#* go on and on for 20 minutes.
  • on a sidenote I just saw a lady on MSNBC with a crocheted hankerchief on her head, lol
  • So THAT'S what was going on behind me. I saw Suzanne talking to a Black woman behind me in the Oklahoma delegation for a long time. She was talking to her over a piece of paper. It looked as though she was trying to show her something.

Wonder what was on that piece of paper.
  • Maybe they were comparing resumes.
  • Rachel Maddow is on MSNBC now
  • God Bless the MSNBC crowd they are trying...
  • The comment that Hillliary didn't say she was a proud wife was very telling. The Black Snob and Rikyrah had comment on how it was so sad and telling Michelle had to tell the world how normal Black Families are. You're right its sad but for the worng reasons.

What is really sad is how pathetic the marriages of white politicians and political punidts are. Newt Gringrich dumps his wife while she is treated for cancer, John Edwards runs to be a Presidential candidate while screwing his mistress that his wife knows about as she suffers through cancer, Hilliary Clinton co-dependency lets her trash and sue poor working white women her husband is raping and pimp her daughter as a marketing tool of normalacy, Eloit Spitzer getting his freak by on while he is an AG investigating money laundering and getting caught because he attempted to launder the money he is paying the escort service, Rush Limbaugh's four marriages and John McCain's biggest moral failing dumping his poor disfigured wife(have these women never heard of Lorene Bobbitt.). This is normalty. If you can't tell the difference than someone save us all black and white.
  • Roy M: Props on the "trip down the adulterous memory lane!" :>) :>)
  • BARRY4OBAMA yells at miranda "preach preacher" and waves his MLK fan at her
  • Oh Rob, But there's more, MUCH more hypocrisy....

How about Karl Rove, that hater of all things gay, isn't exactly proud of his own father's very existence because not only was his father gay, but quite openly so and living with his lover before the elder Rove died.

Or what about a sweet, 17 yr old Laura Bush who ran a stop sign and killed a man. Just happened to be her ex-boyfriend who was on the way home from a party where, allegedly, he had just dumped her. No charges were ever filed.
  • I'm going to post my thoughts in one comment since it's taking me forever to post:

    1. Did you see the crowd booing Pat Buchanan. He is a big hairy asshole. Yeah I wish I was there I would tell him.
    2. Did anybody notice that Barack didn't look happy when they showed the clip of him watching with the family - he looked a little perturbed and a little nervous or embarrassed. I think he and Michelle know something about that speech that we don't know.
  • people are already saying that she didn't look pleased. I hope that story doesn't get picked up. I really thought she should have smiled more. She look worried but that could be easily misconstrued.
  • How do you smile with a knife in your back?
  • Exactly
  • Preach
  • How do you smile with a knife in your back?
  • hello!
  • Where was Barack? I didn't see him.
  • Yeah, he knows what alot of us here know. She didn't do it.

SHE DID NOT DO ENOUGH!!! She is still gaming. He is tired of it. This was, in my opinion, her last chance to redeem herself.

    She didn't do it.
  • isonprize: AMEN!!! AGREED! CO-SIGNING!!!!! THAT'S IT FOR ME!!! :>) :>)
  • Why is Obama in Kansas anyway?
  • I don't know if this is it, but I heard Anderson say earlier that the O campaign had not received the final draft of the speech.

Michelle's face did not look right to me every time. She was watching the reaction of the audience and she got up when they got up, but it wasn't always spontaneous.

What the hell is this women from Just Say No Deal talking about? Her vote or her virginity? She's saying I don't give my vote away on the first date....I'm a good Catholic girl....I need to be courted. WHAT THE FUCK??????????

I've HAD IT!!!! I'VE MOTHER*UCKING HAD IT!!!!! I DON'T WANT TO HEAR ANYTHING MORE FROM THESE CRAZY BITCHES. I HAVE HAD IT WITH THE FREAKIN' CLINTONS!!! I'VE HAD IT WITH BARACK ACQUIESCING TO THEIR LUNATIC DEMANDS. HE BETTER PULL A MOTHER*UCKING RABBIT OUT OF A HAT AT INVESCO, OR THAT'S IT!!
  • Clinton's JOB tonight was to convince them to support him. She gave it shortshrift. Hell, yeah, she's still gaming. I am sick to death of these people.

I was SOOO happy when Barack announced that Biden was on his ticket, because it seemed as if he was in this fight all by himself. Alone. Against McCain. Against the media. Against the Clintons. Everyone jumped onto the narrative that he had to SHOW us who he was, PROVE that he was a good American, PROVE that he, with his black ass, deserved to be president, when everyone else was assumed to deserve it a priori. He needed someone to be in his corner to help him fight.

Now I see that with Biden or without, he really is alone. He's all by himself. Clinton gave more support, more warm words for Biden, than she did for Barack, as if to say, "Hey America, here is a nice paternal figure for that little boy Barack. Support him, because we really think Barack isn't ready. Maybe he'll save us from this calamitous path we've chosen."

You are right, Truthseeker. It is absolutely all on Barack's shoulders. He has to turn it out on Thursday. I believe that he's got the strength, courage, and intelligence to pull this out. I will be praying for him.
  • I knew Hillpatine wouldn't let me down. she's still clowning. Yours and Truthseeker's words have really struck a chord with me.
  • rikyrah: Me 2. I couldn't get past ALL the egocentric statements. If those were left out, that would have cut, at least, a third of her speech!! :>)

I did appreciate her MAJOR DISS of bull: She did NOT say that she was a WIFE!! Whoooo! Hooo!! :>) :>) :>)
  • hey, i'd be right there with you if i had decided to watch those mainstream lunatics. don't let them get to you because then THEY win. it's their job (and has been for quite some time) to keep us feeling hopeless, dejected and angry. that's how they paralyse us.

they've got a HUGE surprise coming in november! :-)
  • Truth I so feel your pain and I'm sorry we're all hurting on some level about the way Obama and by extension of his blackness, we, have been trampled upon.

That being said, even if he pulls a rabbit out of his hat, the MSM and treacherous nay sayers will say it was a rat. I really don't care if he wins anymore, I just want him to tell those mofos to kiss his ass, but chances are he won't. It's who he is. I hope it serves him well.
  • No, he is better than you or me, and he would never tell them to kiss his ass, as much as they need to.

I have to trust that he will win, that he will be a great president, become a wonderful elder statesman, and lead the world to a better future. That will be the best ass kiss EVER.
  • Yeah? He better stop just looking embarrassed and re-take control of this thing! He better step out on that stage on Thursday and own this thing. I don't want to hear any shit about the Clintons on Thursday. I don't want to hear any of that shit anymore.
  • is it just me or does MSNBC wake pat buchanon up right before he goes on the air...lol
  • Oh my god....she's got them in every colour???
  • When I saw the picture, I couldn't stop laughing. I was like, THAT was the best choice? She had it in multiple colors...on some level, that was just too funny for words for me.
  • From Politicalinaction.com:

Governor Richardson just drops some knowledge....."this wasn't just a signal to her supporters, it also may have been a signal to her husband that it is time to do everything to elect Barack Obama." Wow, that wasn't on message.
  • If anybody knows the Clintons, it's Gov. Richardson

(Who is a great man, by the way. Very warm.)
  • What I truly appreciate about Richardson is not that he took a step in Barack's direction in the primaries, and willingly allowed his relationship with the Clintons to dissolve. What I appreciate most about him is that he is determined to get Barck elected. If the spotlight is on the Clintons, he will use that spotlight to point out flaws.

He is for Barack all the way. I hope if Obama decides to have Richardson in his Cabinet, that Richardson will join the team. Barack has so few people in his corner, he needs all the support he can get.

Here is the clip of Miss Shirley Temple Curls crying over Hillary.
  • Goddamn drama queen. What the hell does she mean criticizing Barack's resume????!!
  • S T C Oooooh, what state was she from? Gotta get some more folks registered in that state!!!

THIS ONE IS TOO IMPORTANT! WE MUST LAY IT ALL ON THE FIELD!!!!
  • Town: Now here's someone who NEEDED a HANDKERCHIEF!!! -literally and figuratively!!!!! :>) :>)

LOVED the "Miss Shirley Temple Curls"!! LOL!!! X10!!!! :>) :>) :>)
  • I saw this last night and wanted to reach through the screen and slap some sense into her. She started off by saying "You know that was a presidential speech." She said that two or three times and spoke about how Obama didn't connect to her and how he had two months - I guess to earn her vote. I had to leave the room while she was speaking because she was really silly. Talk about someone having drank the Kool Aid.
  • I could've swore you were talking about one of those privileged middle class [white] woman. I almost fell off my chair after clicking on the link. All I can say [with a face of disgust] is: WTF?
  • I think someone posted at I think Shakespeare Sister that she was a supposedly reasonable person who had questions about Obama. I apologize, I was just starting to get excited about this election, I even watch the roll call vote on youtube. However, I then read some of of the comments on that website a lot of griping about the convention and Obama, it killed my buzz. I just need to vent.
  • i'm sorry u guys but i am totally in the bag and have a major crush for michelle bernard....also did u guys just see where chuck todd almost went off on david gregory
  • barry: Missed it! What was the general context?? :>)
  • Soft-spoken Chucky T??? What happened?
  • Michelle Bernard - though she may be a Republican, she has been more respectful of Obama, and more willing to call Hillpatine on her mess than anyone else with an 'R' by her name.

What happend between Chucky T and the hideous Gregory
  • Chris Matthews asked Michelle Bernard if she was moving from center of right closer to the center and she responded that she really admired Barack Obama, especially as an African American. I know I didn't do her statement justice so you'll have to find the tape, but she admitted everything you've expected of her all along.
  • I saw her yesterday out from behind those TV desk. The sister has, from what I could see, some healthy legs. I liked it.

Nothing but the dog in me. UUGH.
  • I liked the speech she did what she needed to do. I don't think having this mea culpa on stage by taking back her crazyness during the primaries matter at this point because its not going to stop the Rethugs from using her words (or Joe Biden's for that matter). I think her speech was making the case for a democratic future which is far more important than any single person (even Obama), and the imporant part where she did really well was to present Sen Obama as the vessel for that future. I think that is far more effective than saying "well I was wrong as hell" "and I take it all back"; that may be satifying in the short term, but not in the long run. I think for some people here will never like her/forgive short of a sponteneous combustion that spells out Obama rocks, she did what she had to do tonight and them some, time for her now to campaign like crazy (the good kind) for him.
  • I was ready to forgive her, but she didn't do what she needed to do.

Thanks, though, for your more positive perspective. I don't share it, but I hope 99.9% of the country does.
  • Barack is the presumptive nominee of the Dem. party. When the official roll call of the states is done on Wed. p.m. then he becomes the official nominee of the party. On Thurs. he comes before the Convention and accepts the nomination of his party. (Invesco Field).
Then we are off and running!
  • I think the speech by Hillary was good. She promoted Obama. She referenced the woman's movement which is appropriate for her. I was not offended by the use of Harriet Tubman, she was from New York and her words, "keep going" were the right words and led to the right words for the end of the speech "start going"

I am not sure what the critiques of the speech wanted. I don't think she needs to take back any statements. That was the campaign. They were said in the campaign. The campaign is over. She can still believe he is inexperienced and the best choice for very good reasons.
  • I'm with you Caligirl, come November, we're gonna shock the world. And that speech tonight by HRC, absolute bs. She is a snake, through & through, her damned husband too.

She didn't sound sincere to me, not when endorsing Barack. The only time she warmed up is when she was talking about herself, & her campaign, & why she ran for President, blah, blah. The restraint that the Obama camp has shown this bitch borders on superhuman. I would've booted her ass to the curb a long time ago. I guess he just feels that it's better to keep your enemies close... I'm looking at Nightline right now, & they're just swinging all on the Clintons' dick, like they're some type of heroes. You actually lose track of the fact that she was the loser, very poor loser, in all of this...
  • flygyrl172: Co-signing. :>)
  • "Barack Obama is my candidate and he must be our President."

I guess I'm not seeing how this isn't a strong enough statement that she believes Barack is ready to be President.

"The future of our nation and the health and safety of our children hangs in the balance if Barack isn't elected president."

If you were not convinced with her delivery, so be it. But the words she delivered were unequivocal.

"No way. No how. No McCain."

I expect that to be used in an ad that appears during the RNC.

Even if there's something going on behind the scenes, the theater she put on to our faces was very good.

"Were you just in this for me?"

She gave Michelle Obama propers, praised her speech, and said she would be a great First Lady.

I'm not seeing any reaction to that here. Maybe I scrolled through the comments too quickly.

She's meeting with her delegates at lunch tomorrow where she's expected to encourage them to vote for Barack in the abbreviated roll call vote in the afternoon.

I'll get a report from two friends from my past who intend to attend.

I've now spoken with more than 100 Hillary delegates face to face. Three quarters of them are voting for Barack in the roll call.

McCain's campaign chimed in with a silly press release that nitpicked what she didn't say instead of focusing on what she did say. Even with my dislike and mistrust of most things Clinton, I'm just not going to get riled up by something that came out of the McCain's campaign.

The energy on the convention floor cannot be felt on the television.

I'm beginning to believe there will be no shenanigans tomorrow.

    We shall see.

This convention is changing me. It's no longer about my feelings for Hillary and Bill.

    It's about winning.

We can't take any votes for granted. If Clinton Democrats are more likely to vote for Barack because his supporters stop openly trashing the Clintons, then I'm prepared to stop openly trashing the Clintons.

    This election is too important.

    I want to win.

It's no skin off my ass to censor myself unless or until I get new evidence.

If I can't say anything good about Hillary and Bill, I'm not going to say anything at all.

I even waved a big white Hillary sign on cue. And then those big unity placards.

You could almost feel the unity in the place.

    I want to win.
  • Hillary's speech was ok.
  • teacher: Co-signing!!! :>) :>)
