Or better yet, lets talk about the fact that Aids is the number one killer of black women between 21 and 34.
Or lets talk about the redistricting that make the the CBC members election proof which allows them to partner with whoever they want to partner with.
Richardson and Dodd will NOT be attenting the debate

I think that is what is driving me crazy at this point. The Debate has been hobbled. None of the "top tier" candidates are going. Can we now focus on the high school drop out rate among African Americans? Are Daily Kos and MyDD going to do a series on issues affecting the African American community. Y'all won. Now lets talk about the mortality rate for African American men. Or diabetes and breast cancer among African American women.
I'm with you, but shouldn't THIS be the agenda of the CBC? Shouldn't THIS be what they're fighting for?
If they spent as much time on THESE issues as they have fighting for this debate...
well.....
Like any other business that would make a profit by mocking and insulting me, I won't patronize Fox News if that's how they roll.
Democrats going on Fox is like handing your enemy a rotten tomato in a food fight - you end up slimey and smelly.
One must wonder, If FOX were organizing the debates without the Congressional FOX Caucus, would black bloggers be just as concerned?
The fact of the matter is the candidates are not really the problem.
The problem is the CBC is sleeping with an enemy of black folks.
When they (Presidential candidates) come into black communities trying to talk with black folks about supporting their campaigns, we should take all of their postions, appearances and votes into consideration when casting our votes or providing other support.
Regarding the CBC. Let's get some new youthful brothers and sisters to run against those who would even support a FOX debate. I hope that is one of the agenda items for the AfroSphere.
Consider Dennis' card to be permanently revoked, LOL.
However, you will see Dennis on the upcoming CBC Report Card in September, because we're expanding it to evaluate non-Black members of Congress with 25% or more Blacks living in their districts. No reason why the CBC members should get beat up and these non-Black reps with 25% or more Blacks in their district should get a free pass.
BTW, thanks for the props to my DKos Blog, but I'm convince they're drunk on Kos' Kool-aid, because they don't get excited about a diary unless Kos does...
No, go for position on the issues and a vow not to take coporate money. Age should not matter.
No wonder we can't get African American youth to vote in large numbers. No youth are running to mirror what they vision for community. All these "old farts" get in and no one holds them accountable.
It's time for new blood, new ideas, news visions, new plans, new attitude, new coalition building capacity and a new opportunity to rebuild our communities. Why are we electing the same people to comngressional office and expecting different results and outcomes.
Campaign 2008 should be get the old farts out! Bring in the new blood.
The problem as I see it is that when we talk about the need for victories, we tend to start with curing AIDS, completely reforming K-12 education, etc.
All of these issues and more are important BUT we are too quick to minimize smaller victories. The only reason why we won this victory is because observers of Black thought realized that Black bloggers wouldn't shutup about this issue so it had to be addressed by the candidate's actions and coverage by mainstream media.
Smaller victories give people hope so let's celebrate, learn, and apply these same tactics to the larger issues we all care about.
To bring it all together though, I don't think my peers see traditional politics as the appropriate avenues for real victories. Smaller victories are often extremely localized, which is very different from the model of the national civil rights paradigm.
Therefore, the CBC should in my opinion not be the ultimate goal of Black up and coming leaders. This model has lead Black folk to neglect the enormous impact of local and state politics. My prayer is that as the new generation takes the reins at the local level, we will witness a new and improved vision of helping our people lead better lives.
I am that young blood, AAPP
Thanks,
