Detroit Mayor Ordered to Jail

Started by baratunde aka jack turner · 11 months ago

Kwame Kilpatrick’s mess gets worse and worse.  Two days after his mama barely wins re-election to her seat, her son is found to have violated the terms of his bail and is being ordered to jail - RIGHT NOW.

Sayin you’re sorry is not going to cut it this time.  And if Mama Kilpatrick decides to [...]SHARETHIS.addEntry({ title: "Detroit ... Continue reading »

  • Kilpatrick was never ready for prime time. I don't see how folks in Detroit and elsewhere in the black electorate failed to see it. He will not, however, be the first Detroit mayor to go to jail although he might be the last one.
  • They got me locked up.......
  • How many readers believe that Mama Kilpatrick will ask Baby Kilpatrick to resign in order to save her re-election bid?
  • My sister just called my from her gym to tell me this news. Oh, she has lived in Detroit for over 30 years. She has watched it's decline under "KK" and gets more frustrated about the fact that he is still in office!! She reports that millions of dollars spent in his corrupt regime have cost student/taxpayers!!! The quality of life, in general, has declined!!!

And, yes, they got the "like Mother, Like Son" concept, but too many challengers [each with their own egos] allowed for a split vote and Mother K eeked out a Win!

Maybe another "Detroiter" has another perspective? ?
  • I hope it's the END of his political career. He makes me sick.
  • LMAO,

    Dear CPL,

"Ain't" nobody going to rape KK in the lockup...Do you know what KK looks like?

KK looks like the dude that does the raping. Add to that notion that KK is sex-crazed, sending lascivious lewd text messages to his former chief of staff, i would advise those inmates to (in the words of Chris Rock from "Bring the Pain" in 1996) squeeze their cheeks tight and not wipe after (self-censored).

Kwame Kilpatrick and Detroit...If that brotha and his city are not a soap opera, then I don't know what is. I remain intrigued...I'd watch this on TV.
  • Ugh.......as a Famuan I am sooooooooo sickened by Kwame's mess. (in the spirit of Florida Evans)...DAMN DAMN DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know the Hundred will dedicate "Its Hard Out Here For A Pimp" to our fellow Rattler, they have too.
  • Miranda: Oops! I sure don't know this little jingle. I mainly know "oldies" 'cause they were "newies" when I jammed to them!!! :>) :>) :>)

And Florida Evans and the "Good Times" clan were my jams! :>) :>) :>)
  • I knew he was alley when he designated himself the 'hip hop mayor.'

Glad he's locked up; he shouldn't even be mayor anymore.

Apparently, his mother remains clueless as well; often a little power is a dangerous thing:
After she declared victory early Wednesday, Rep. Kilpatrick said just the wrong thing, too.

"I will be your congresswoman until I decide to retire," she declared. That's not necessarily her decision to make, and Rep. Kilpatrick would do well to remember that. Nobody is entitled to public office. The people own the seats, and the people decide who is going to fill them.<.blockquote>The apple ain't falling far from the tree, is it?
  • It's clear that Mama Kilpatrick understands that she's vulnerable. If not, then she wouldn't make a statement like that. In addition to Kilpatrick's brazen and unwavering endorsement of Hillary Clinton, her son's latest antics have produced more fodder for her GOP opponent to throw her way in the election.
  • Exactly, soulsistah02.
  • 99%: . . . "hip hop mayor" Same thing my sister said! :>) :>) But she did state that he was righteous - the first year. Then it was down hill thereafter! :>)
  • That's the rub, as I said on my blog--this bastard and his CBC mama will pull old line politics on Barack and extort him into promises.
  • He's TRIFLING.

    Plain and simple.

No one to blame but himself.
  • In May 2007, Kilpatrick received this glowing endorsement from Barack Obama, who called him a "great mayor" who is doing an "outstanding job." Obama said that Kilpatrick "is going to be doing astounding things for many years to come:"

Obama said he was "grateful to call [Kwame Kilpatrick] a friend," but that was then and this is now. The Mayor is obviously radioactive, but his situation poses a delicate problem for Obama.

He may need the Kilparticks' support in order to carry Michigan, which appears to be in play:

Adolph Mongo, a political analyst and former consultant to Mayor Kilpatrick, said that Obama’s support would be a “tremendous endorsement” for Carolyn Kilpatrick in terms of the good perception it would generate amongst voters. But he suggested it might be more important for Obama.

“Barack Obama cannot afford to snub the congresswoman and the mayor,” Mongo said. “The mayor is the only one in Detroit that has the machine to turn out the vote.”
  • typical (Detroit), oh well once a great city down the drain. This is what happens when Democrats run cities.
  • Clearly, you are simply trying to be provocative for the sake of being provocative. You have no factual basis to support your assertion other than a desire to want to argue a point that can't be proven. BTW, I'm not a Democrat.
  • Who has been there mayors for the past 40 years plus. Mayor Colman would just blame the suburbs. I'm just telling you like it is. Detroit is a sad case of Liberal Fallers!
  • Your argument is about Detroit, not Democratic mayors. Maybe, you should ask why the political culture of Detroit is the way that it is. The answer probably has nothing to do with party affiliations etc. Look at a little deeper.
  • you sure place the (D) in Deeper. Like New Jersey, Detroit is just a quagmire of Liberalism run amuck... Wait Jersey has Wall Street and Philly to make up for there mess, Detroit has well...
  • Detroit is an example of something running amuck but it isn't liberalism.
  • Oh please too tell me your theory... let me guess it starts above 8 Mile North.

p.s. Ive been to the 313 many times so I know what I see
