    Howard Dean is a wuss.

I pray that they mention the canidates all signed the agreement..
  • D. · 1 year ago
Wait...so if MI/FL stand to automatically lose half their delegates anyway, what's the problem from Obama's side?
  • jelana · 1 year ago
There is no problem from Obama's side. Hillary wants 100% of the votes. Hillary's side is the problem.
  • D. · 1 year ago
But legally-and I'm watching to be convinced otherwise-that can't happen, right?
  • texas girl in l.a. · 1 year ago
    D,

It's not Obama's side. Hillary wants the full count. As I told you a while back, she shot down a couple attempts for resolutions coming from Obama and from the DNC.
  • smoothie · 1 year ago
    D.
thats what the lawyers of the DNC say.

hillary's side also wants uncommitted, in MI to be just that..Meaning no one gets them..netting her the resulf of mi and 0 of anything for barack in regards to Mi.

Did you see the NYT....the committee met for over 5 hrs. last night and it appears they didn't come to any agreements.....basically just found where everyone stood. Straw votes were taken and it states that the outcomes were so close they were meaningless.
  • Carol (Aquariusmoon) Duhart · 1 year ago
I'll just read the net. I went to C-Span and got tired of the Hillary whiners. Went to CNN and have a lot of the proceedings talked over by talking heads.

    Dean was inspirational.

For those who cry at Dean, remember that he was the one who rebuilt the national party to be competitive everywhere. There were a lot of red states that barely had a Democratic Party before he sent his organizers. He's also resisted attempts to weight the decisions towards Hillary. Can you imagine what would have happened if a Hillarly stooge like Vilsack was running the DNC now? While a lot of people aren't happy about the long primary, at least the results aren't the product of backroom dealing.
  • D. · 1 year ago
Yeah, CNN's pissing me off, too.

Will the presentations be made available online anywhere?
  • smoothie · 1 year ago
whats worse, is CNN is the only unit doing this in HD..
  • texas girl in l.a. · 1 year ago
    Actually,

MSNBC has very little commentary. Unlike CNN.

But will see if there is anything else online.

Chile that Bill Nelson is a mess. Im from FLORIDA and I can assure you his pussy self does not represent me. I did not go to the polls and vote becuz my state legislature dont know how to follow rules! This is getting really messy though!

I wonder what Donna Brazil is gonna say!

Democrats are walking into a Clinton trap.If they award all the delegates then she loses her argument so her allies are conceding only awarding half delegates but if they do that thenClinton will cry foul and vow to go all the way to Denver attacking Obama along the way.

From Blacks4Barack....UPDATE: Sources: DNC Florida Compromise Reached,
    Michigan Hangs In Balance

    Sam Stein

    The Huffington Post

    May 31, 2008 09:37 AM

Two sources, including a high-ranking official with the Florida delegation, have confirmed that the DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee reached an agreement last night and will seat the state's entire delegation but give each delegate half a vote. The result would be a net gain of 19 delegates for Sen. Hillary Clinton, though no word yet on how the superdelegates from the state will be allocated. It is, the official says, a compromise that Sen. Barack Obama will be willing to make. "There will be theater but not much fight."

Circumstances, however, are looking very much different concerning the battle over how to handle Michigan's delegation. As of Saturday morning, no compromise had been reached. The idea of splitting the state's delegation 50-50 has been discussed but Clinton's camp, one source said, was not agreeing to the arrangement. In addition, reports are circulating around the DNC meeting that Sen. Carl Levin, who will be speaking on behalf of Michigan, will press for the seating of the state's full delegation, with full votes for each.

"If he does not get his way," wrote The Atlantic's Marc Ambinder, "he will likely challenge the RBC's ruling when the credentials committee convenes unless the rules and bylaws committee promises to strip Iowa and New Hampshire of their privileged status in 2012."

As it stands now, the Rules and Bylaws Committee could resolve the Florida situation while leaving Michigan hanging in the balance -- a situation that is tenable under party rules but leaves open the possibility, however slim, that the delegation matter would be unresolved until the convention.

Donna Brazil is one bad WOMAN! LOVE HER!
  • Pamela · 1 year ago
What the well was Athena Joyner babbling about? My dad called and asked if this is the best person Hillary could get to represent her. If so, it's really sad.

    And Donna Brazil is fierce.
  • Dermar 2.0 · 1 year ago
Haha I put the TV on mute when that lady was speaking. She seemed to be yelling loudly and not really constructing coherent defenses? But haha how ironic is it that the white candidate had a black defender and the black candidate had a white defender BUT congressman Wexler did that! The man deserves a lovely spot on the Obama national campaign team!
  • Anonymous · 1 year ago
that [short-haired] black woman for Hillary (though she looks bad) is a complete mess! I'm sorry, but I just have a hard time taking blck and brwn folks supporting hillary. I do.
  • Dermar 2.0 · 1 year ago
Why is she being so messy? The man wants to unify the party. ONLY THAT! He is not trying to give Hillary 100% of nothing. He is trying to UNIFY!
  • Pamela · 1 year ago
Now what Hillary? Obama rep said seat the delegates for the best of the party and party unity (and because he knows he will still win the nomination). With the "disenfranchise" argument of the table what are you gonna bitch about now?

Obama is proving to be the bigger person in this.
  • Anonymous · 1 year ago
What the hell is the concept of "Fair reflection" that Harold Ickey is referring to????
  • Anonymous · 1 year ago
the funny thing is that hillary has a bunch of black folks defending her against the black man. You have to give it to the Clintons for their gangsta.

  • texas girl in l.a. · 1 year ago
Ickes couldn't explain to Wexler what he was talking about. He asked....but nothing. Basically, Wexler was like..you want to talk to me about "fair reflextion"? You are at the rules committee for breaking the rules and you want to talk to me about being fair?

I can't shake the feeling that if they choose anything but a 50/50 split, it opens up the possibility of charges of fraud by the DNC.

Wouldn't that be like defrauding the people who didn't come out to vote because the DNC told them not to? Wouldn't that be like calling voters and telling them the election was cancelled, then later certifying the results..I dunno, it doesn't feel right to me.

I feel it would come back to haunt the DNC in the future.
  • Anonymous · 1 year ago

Im one of the voters in FL who did not go to the polls. Basically the DNC is saying Fuck YOU it was my own choice to stay at home.. So I guess its ok that the people who didnt vote arent taken into consideration

And why is Harold Ickees even on this committee?

"F*uck You" is also what some Clinotonistas are saying to Obama for taking his name of the ballot in MI. They're saying well, you're stupid for honouring the spirit of the rules and following instructions, so too bad, you lose.

Can anyone imagine what it would be like to have the Clinton's and their motley crew in the White House? Non-stop strife and drama!
  • Anonymous · 1 year ago
So if FL votes WILL count, then doesn't that mean Obama gets Edwards votes, TOO????? Edwards has endorsed Obama. Just curious. Help me out here.

Are the protesters still out there?
  • teacher · 1 year ago
If I understood him correctly, Levin said that MI deliberately broke the rules because they didn't agree with them, that they didn't think any state should be 1st. How can the party elders be ok with that? I don't understand the democratic party (which is why I'm going to quit it as soon as this is over).

BTW, I loved the story posted yesterday about Clinton & Rich Women. It really illustrated what really happens in power politics that I would never know about otherwise.

There is a tornado watch in DC. Maybe it will pick up hellory's minion and transport them to Oz.

Rachel Maddow is sans makeup today. Hmmm. Harold Ickes is icky. He sucks and is a devil. I read that he has been behind EVERY candidate that took the fight to the convention.

Why aren't the MI party leaders being held accountable for deliberately breaking the rules? Why isn't hellory being held accountable for signing the agreement? How do you know when the rules don't count? Rules not counting is a very slippery slope and dangerous precedent to set.
  • MGM · 1 year ago
    Two questions:

    1. I am just tuning in and reading the comments above. Is there a YouTube clip of Donna Brazile's comments when she got hissed at? I enjoy listening to Ms. Brazile, and want to catch what she said. Is anyone aware of a link on YouTube or somewhere of Ms. Brazile's comments?

    2. Has any of these folk at this hearing brought up the fact the Hillary AGREEEEEEEED to discounting Michigan and Florida? I don't understand why the "f**k you" attitude is thrown at Obama for "taking his name off the ballot," but nobody is saying "f**k you" to Hillary b/c she's trying to change the rules AFTER her ass agreed to them b/c she is losing? I don't get the double standard . . .

Someone pls help and answer my 2 questions. Many thanks in advance! Peace!
  • MGM · 1 year ago
Someone brought up a good question. I am interested in the answer also.

John Edwards has endorsed Obama, so, if Florida counts, what happens to Edwards votes? Won't they get counted to Obama now?
  • D. · 1 year ago
And another question: is there any legal recourse outside of the DNC? Is there a Clinton v. Obama (or, v. the DNC) in our future?
  • Dermar 2.0 · 1 year ago
    Hey everyone!!

I just woke up again! And this mess is still going on? I hope everyone has turned to MSNBC becuz CNN has dropped the ball big time on its political coverage. Although I am strongly starting to think about if they ever had fair political coverage. Although everyone should tune in for their "Black In America" special, but booo @ their political coverage.

Now... I understand everyone trying to work out something for FL becuz both candidates names were on the BALLOT. But to go back and forth on Michigan like this? Only ones person name was on the ballot?

They have to options with Michigan. Split it 50/50 or toss the state OUT!

ps: Is Harold Ickees still speaking?

If Nancy Pelosi, Howard Dean, and Harry Reid are watching this they better OPEN THE FLOOD GATES of SUPERDELEGATES and let it rain. Thats the only thing that can make all of the rules and bylaws stuff irrelevant!

But if you notice CNN has been doing the tacky split screen essentially all day and allowing loud and unhappy people voice hteir opinions. MSNBC respects the intelligence of the viewer to let them come to their own conclusions about whats going on. And only brought on the analyst between BREAKS or when the committee rested.

  • teacher · 1 year ago
Whoa Demar2.0! Please spare us of the sexual imagery involving anyone with the last name of clinton.

Rachel is right. Obama is going to have to play hardball if he wants to win. It's time to smack down hellory's arguments and show his fire in the belly to win the nomination. We can't always have everything we want. Things don't always go the way we want them to go. Maybe he is going to have to reconcile himself to the idea that he will have to put on the gloves and punch her out even though he doesn't want to. His campign needs to be MUCH more proactive and less reactionary.

And here is racism. White MSM thinks they have the right to pick hellory as O's VP. I think I need to turn it off now.
  • Dermar 2.0 · 1 year ago
    Sorry teacher...

My apologies if my allegory offended anyone.

How does the clinton campaign want to count all the votes as cast in both FL and MI? When Clinton was the only name on the Ballot in MI? Thats like giving her a 100% total victory? What sense does that make? The dems dont do winner take all.
  • mgm · 1 year ago

  • Carol (Aquariusmoon) Duhart · 1 year ago
All who are worried about Obama playing hardball: I think he will after Wednesday if Hillary does not drop out. The primaries will be OVER, and he won't have to worry about electoral backlash. Anybody who's for Hillary afterward is lost to him, and probably the Democratic Party too, so its' no loss.

I wish there was more decorum in that room. It would have been nice to hear the arguments in a clear sober manner. Perhaps they allowed some of the hollering so that the Hillbots outside wouldn't be tempted to make up for seeming lack of support on the inside by ramping things up.

Wasn't it smart for Obama not to have his supporters enmasse outside? The Hillbots would have escalated things severely if they could have, and got a lot of tv time. But with no Obama people, the tv pays slight attention to them, there's no excitement, and Hillary looks like more of a fool.

From Sam Stein at Huffington Post

"Lanny Davis Loses His Cool On DNC Member

    May 31, 2008 01:28 PM

Sam can be reached at stein@huffingtonpost.com.

A brief but spittle-filled shouting match broke out in the halls of the DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee hearing on Saturday between a committee member and a surrogate for Sen. Hillary Clinton's campaign.

Lanny Davis, the colorful, committed, and sometimes unrestrained Clinton supporter deliberately interrupted a small gathering of press who had come to hear Jon Ausman, a DNC member, explain the basis of his proposed Florida delegation compromise.

"I'll tell you what," Davis chimed in, "the Clinton campaign's position has been misrepresented by this wonderful love-fest, and the lady who testified for us was saying that the Obama campaign and your proposal is not generous. But it is in fact unfair. If you want to hear, now that the love-fest is over, why don't you come over and hear the counterpoint to this completely disingenuous argument."

A befuddled Ausman who had earlier proposed that Florida's 185 pledged delegates be subject to a 50 percent penalty, asked who exactly Lanny Davis was. By then, however, Davis had herded a slew of reporters around Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones, another Clinton supporter, who was standing feet away and insisting that Ausman's deal was far from a "generous" token by the Obama campaign. Then, in the midst of the hastily gathered question and answer session, Ausman reemerged to defend himself.

What proceeded was a heated and, at times, unintentionally hilarious exchange, with the two standing inches apart from each other and the occasional finger pointed in the other's face.

Ausman: [My proposal] is very generous, because Obama was initially fighting for a situation where Clinton would net 6 delegates, now it's 19.

Davis: Don't say you're being generous.

Ausman: I can say we're being generous.

Davis: But you're allowed to and I'm allowed to disagree...

Ausman: But I'm the one who's on the petition...

Reporter: Ok ok, why don't we --

Ausman: Are you a representative of Clinton?

Davis: No, I'm actually just a person...

Ausman: Are you a designated representative of Clinton?

Davis: I am not a designated representative.

Ausman: Then why don't we have a designated representative speak for Clinton and you be silent?

After the fracas ended, Tubbs Jones fielded several additional questions. Arguing that the only "fair" outcome in Florida would be for the full seating of the delegation and not for those delegates to be halved, she deflected questions as to whether the Clinton campaign's proposals were, themselves, uncompromising.

"My name is Stephanie Tubbs Jones and I am the congresswoman from the great state of Ohio, and on behalf of the Clinton campaign, we don't expect that the Obama campaign could be so generous to us to give us these 19 delegates. It is in fact more generous, and more appropriate, that all the votes be counted as they were cast. And if the votes are counted as they were cast, Senator Clinton will get much more than the Obama campaign is saying will be generous."

Within minutes the congresswoman and the press had dispersed. But a heated Davis was still strolling the halls of the Marriot Hotel. Talking to a separate reporter, he acknowledged that even if Clinton were to get everything she wanted, the likelihood remained that she would still lose the nomination.

"They can give us the full 38 delegates [the net gain of counting 100 percent of the vote] and still win," he said. "So why won't they."

Asked about the exchange with Ausman, he said: "I'm f-ing angry."

D - you are right about Barack leaving the church. He mentioned it awhile back his main reason was if I remember correctly that he did not want to turn the church into a media circus. So it would be in the best interest for his church family and Barack.

If you want I can dig for that statement but I read it and understood it at the time.
  • Val · 1 year ago
Let me correct that statement he would not attend his home church but would eventually attend another UCC church.

obama must take hillary as his v.p....but only after he apologises for causing her and her supporters such torment. the bitterness of defeat. the humiliation of their own foolishness. he is so cruel to win, and in such an honorable way. just who does he think he is? so high and mighty.

on a serious note, i protested the inauguration of w. in jan. 2001 on a cold and wet day in d.c. the votes really had not been counted and it really was disturbing and unacceptable. that these idiots are usurping the terminology of that moment is downright bushian of them. hillary is really a republican. furthermore, our protest in 2001 and the inauguration of an unelected president was overshadowed by the last minute pardon party thar billary had. the first two weeks of bush jr. was all about those pardons. i haven't forgotten.
  • andyfrombrooklyn · 1 year ago
obama must apologise for pastor #2 daring to tell the truth about crazy hillary. we all know she is a narcissistic nutjob out of control as reality is intruding on her plans. but don't say it. particularly if you have any even remote connection to obama.

Dermar2.o, no worries, but thank goodness for bleach!

MGM, I wrote my 1st protest email to MSNBC because buchanan told Kelli Goff to shut up. And you know what? I haven't seen her on there since.

Angela & all, there have been 2 stories about Lanny Davis on Huffington Post about Lanny being a republican operative & in fact a McCain supporter. What irks me is that the MSM continues to hold him up as a clinton supporter/surrogate, and we continue to go for it. Everything he says should either be filtered thru the lense of of his REAL affiliation or summarily dismissed. I have personally decided to dismiss him.

I'm glad that O left his church. It's about time.

Non-delusional, I think you will get your wish about many folks leaving the Dem party very soon. Insulting Black folks doesn't help as much as stating your case in a clear, concise manner. We are for the thinking hu/man's presidential candidate. You hold the koolaide. I drink from your straw.

while he is apologising for stuff, he should not forget the apology he failed to make last week. he should apologise for being a tempting target of assassins. if he was not, then hillary's comments about rfk would not have been misconstrued by the media, and she would not have had to have that strange and awkward photo op in the salad dressing aisle in that south dakota store.

It is a waste of time and money. The rule was they would be disqualified if they broke the rules. They decided to break the rules. So the compromise was to seat completely but with 1/2. There is no need to extend this ridiculous drama . . . especially for 4 delegates to Obama seeing that he was not on the ballot. What they should do is cancel the compromise and seat NONE. Childish.

After years and years of accusing the media of being biased against her, of being treated badly because she's a woman and a liberal, with one election season Senator Clinton basically proved that almost everything said about her by the "nut job right wingers" was true. She's petty, vindictive, and disloyal. She doesn't give a shit about democracy or unity. If she can get a vote she will do anything.

WhyTF are Ickes/Clintons arguing over FOUR delegates...the difference between 73 and 69 in Michigan...actually two when you count them in halves.

We all need to face the reality that the CHICK ain't going to have a GRACEFUL Exit...She's goin down in flames. The remaining superdelegates going to be bringin the matches and gasoline come this TUESDAY and WEDNESDAY morning. I don't need to see her concede, she just needs to go away.
  • B-Serious · 1 year ago
This was a good day for Obama.

Hillary can whine and complain all she wants. Fact is, we've got a stable "magic number." And Obama is well within reach.

He can pass that number this week--possibly by Tuesday (Chuck Todd was on top of this stuff).

Once he crosses that line the nomination is his. And Hillary can't do anything about that. 2117 means he's the nominee. End of story. . . end of Democratic primary.

The genius behind all of this is, now, Hillary is on the outside looking in. Her whole argument was to count MI and FL so they're represented at the convention. Well, that's a dead issue now. They have representation. And both of the compromises were made with full support of the FL and MI state Democrats. Hillary's all by herself. She's lost whatever moral highground she had. Now, it's just her and her partisans.

Party unity? For now, Obama just needs to focus on registering new voters and GOTV. He can win despite the sour grapes coming from some Clinton supporters.

P.S. Hillary's supporters really made her look bad. I would LOVE to see the media talk about that.

I'm beginning to think a HRC Presidency would be Bush lite. Which would only be a small step up from McCain (who is simply a smarter, Braver, angrier Bush).

Pamela or any other rebublican, why are you republican? What is your attraction to that particular party? I'm not sure I know any Black republicans. What does the party have to offer African americans, if anything?

Delusional, I think you are distorting & exaggerating people's support of Obama. No one is worshipping him, at least as far as I can tell. S'matter of fact, AA's didn't really get on his bandwagon until he started winning among White people. I've stated several times on this blog that I was 60-40 in favor of hellory at the beginning. I also liked Richardson & Edwards, & lastly Dodd & Huckabee. I was totally open to being wowed & wooed. Before Obama, I had never donated to a political campaign in my life. I barely even vote! But I have been impressed with O's integrity, intellect & organization. I have also been deepy offended by hellory's lack of same. How could I support her after the race baiting (she & billy insulted my whole race!)? How could I support McCain when he says that he is going to extend a war that I don't agree with? I don't know anything about Barr, but from what I know of Libertarians, I would not be inclined to be one or vote for one. I lean more toward socialism. Everyone has their own story on how they came to prefer O to become president, and this is mine. As others have mentioned, you are obviously angry about something, though I haven't been able to ascertain what Obama has to do with it. I'm not sure why all those white women hate him either, except that they believed hillbilly's spin.

Please don't refer to anyone by the N word. It's just not right to use that word, friend.
  • teacher · 1 year ago
Wow Plantsmantx! I saw that youtube link you posted...Geraldine Ferraro in about 2 years. I sure hope to see hellory denounce & repudiate this old heffer with a quickness! It's very sad though.

Webb, she is not going to quit without taking a stake to the heart. I posted earlier that O might have to slam her, even though he truly doesn't want to. He may have to pick between winning or not winning. Rachel M. has said it several times & I agree, she is looking for all excuses to take it to the convention. pat buchanan has stated that she can be voted onto the ticket as VP against Obama's will!!! All she needs to do is have someone bring it up. I don't want to see O make any concessions to this witch, but if he does, who can blame him? There might be a lot to lose if he doesn't.

Teacher to answer your questions as to why I am a Republican....

Everyone assumes that because I am black I should be a Democrat. I never liked the idea that no one considered what issues actually affect me or which parties values may align better with my personal values. It's always you are black so you must be a Democrat.

    But why?

I'm not a big fan of social programs. I believe that people can succeed by working hard, getting the best education possible and believing in themselves, and taking personal responsibilty for their actions.

I am conservative. I am Catholic. I have strong family values. I don't believe in divorce. I believe a child raised in a home with two parents is better then one. I don't believe in abortion (for myself, although I think a woman should be able to do what she wants with her body). I want lower taxes. I want less government intervention. I'm a military brat, have tremendous respect for our men and woman in uniform and think that this country should have big defense organization. However I think we should get the hell out of Iraq and knowing what I know now I don't think we should have ever gone in. But I admit in the beginning I was cheering the war. Yep, I feel stupid for that one.

The Republican party aligns with a lot of my interests and beliefs, although not all of them. And there are many extreme right-wing members of the party that I can't stand, Hannity comes to mind. But people really fit into more then two groups so you are going to run into extremists no matter what party you affliate with.

I have never seen the Democratic party, who has 90% support from our community, really worry about listening to what black people are really saying and really, why should they, they are going to get 90% of the vote no matter what.

Imagine the voting power if people actually thought about why they were Democrats and more found that they are more Independent then they originally thought or even more Conservative. If the Republican party thought they had a chance to win a significant part of the black community then voices would be heard. If the Democrats thought they would lose a significant part of the black community then voices would be heard.

And I always hear, Republicans don't like black people. I don't think Republicans are any more racists then Democrats, we can see that from this election. Hell, the Clinton's are the ones that are suppose to be down with us so imagine what everyone else is thinking. I'm not sure where that argument started but it's pointless. Some people are just idiots and they come in all shapes, sizes and affiliations..

At the end of the day I vote for the best candidate and right now I think that is Obama. I disagree with some of his policies and am dreading my taxes going up but the war is a big issue for me so I'll suck it up. I also think his ability to inspire people of all races young and old is what our country needs right now because it's been a rough couple of years. And on top of it all I do want to see a black President. And I think he is going to be great in the position.
