Jack and Jill Politics: Election Thread…Obama Wins North Carolina

  • leneypoo · 1 year ago
Holy crap, Obama could pull an upset in Indiana. Here's hoping!
  • DWS · 1 year ago
    Amen to that!
  • texas girl in l.a. · 1 year ago
This could be interesting folks. He's only down by 4%. Hey, I will take that...
  • scruncher · 1 year ago
300,000 votes out, Clinton ahead by only ~ 39,000.

Anyone see Donna Brazile on CNN about an hour ago? She was great!
  • rikyrah · 1 year ago
Thank you Brothers and Sisters in North Carolina...of all colors...you held it down.
  • rikyrah · 1 year ago
Oh Lord, this is my dream night. Obama wins...makes his speech....we're still waiting for the other state...oh, this is my dream outside of him winning both, this was what I could go to sleep happy with tonight.
  • rikyrah · 1 year ago
I do think we need to keep on talking about Operation Chaos....make this point.....these weren't genuine GOP votes for her...those were sabotage votes.
  • texas girl in l.a. · 1 year ago
    rikyrah,

The funny thing is, I've heard a couple of pundits talk about Operation Chaos. It wasn't an issue before. No one cared. Now...
  • Craig Hickman · 1 year ago
    The irony:

Obama could possibly win outright a primary in the birthplace of the Ku Klux Klan.

And even if he keeps it this close, it's still a victory.
  • Craig Hickman · 1 year ago
Without operation chaos, Obama wins Indiana for sure.
  • DWS · 1 year ago
Lake County, IN is home to Hammond and Gary. Please tell me at least 40,000 folks voted for SBO so we can close this night out already!
  • texas girl in l.a. · 1 year ago
    craig,

ok. stupid question....is Indiana really the birth place of the Klan?

And yes, without rush's plan...Obama won this piece!
  • rikyrah · 1 year ago
Rachel Maddow - I don't expect magamanimity from Obama to Clinton.....Once she started talking about the 'nuclear option' (my paraphasing)...

"HE HAS TO SHOVE HER OUT."

bwa ha ha ha ha ha

    Thanks Rachel.
  • rikyrah · 1 year ago
    texas girl,

I do believe it is indeed the birthplace of the KKK.
  • michelle · 1 year ago
This is why Black folks are coming out in support of Obama.

You know folks...I think those folks in Gary are working on CPTime. This is a pattern with ' us'.

Missouri...who are the last folks to report?

    St. Louis.

Virginia...who are the last folks to report?

    Richmond

Ohio...who are the last folks to report?

    Cleveland.

It's just CPTime...BWA HA HA HA HA HA
  • N. Mahana · 1 year ago
I dunno, I still believe Clinton will pull off a win in Indiana but that was expected so I am not broken up about it. I made my phone bank calls there.

One lady said, I do not wish to share who I am voting for and she said it so icy before hanging up in my face...I thought, damn...

    yeah I see. *lol*
  • TruthSeeker · 1 year ago
Oh, I'm hoping!!!! Here's an article about Gary residents saying they have Obama's back.

Residents of black steel town say they've got Obama's back in Indiana vote
  • rikyrah · 1 year ago
Got this from The Field...loved this comment:

HAHAHA. Look at that Traitor Harold Ford kissing up to Barack. I fucking love it. I LOVE IT. After all this time when he was trying to destroy Barack so he can be first.. now he’s kissing the ring.

Obama, you did it baby.. I love you.

BWA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA

    HILARIOUS.
  • TruthSeeker · 1 year ago
ok, here we go begging for money.
  • rikyrah · 1 year ago
Obama has nearly erased her popular vote gain from Pennsylvania.
  • texas girl in l.a. · 1 year ago
oh my gosh truthseeker, I read that article too

may have to call in sick tomorrow because I know I will not get any sleep tonight.

I'm listening to Hillary right now. Kind of weird. She's usually on mute.
  • rikyrah · 1 year ago
Andrew Sullivan is now being mean...but I don't care

"Full Speed Onto the White House"

She's clinical. And asking for money right up front. Hey, Mrs Moneybags. Use some of your own tens of millions

BWA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA
  • TruthSeeker · 1 year ago
Wait a sec....she didn't congratulate Obama!!!! Or did I miss it?
  • Craig Hickman · 1 year ago
As chair of the DLC, Harold Ford is a Clinton surrogate to be sure even though he hasn't declared support for her yet.

However, he was pushing all night for a joint ticket with Obama at the top since 7:30 when NC was called.

He wants Clinton to stop attacking Obama and bring the party together starting tomorrow.

There were also rumors a few weeks ago that if Clinton could get the nomination, he would be her runningmate in order to try to recapture the Black vote. But those were rumors at best.
  • rikyrah · 1 year ago
    truthseeker,

she hasn't congratulated him publicly since Super Tuesday...why change that now?
  • texas girl in l.a. · 1 year ago
    truthseeker,

I didn't hear it either. She didn't thank the people of NC either.
  • Craig Hickman · 1 year ago
Lake County is late for two reasons:

    1) Two polling places had to stay open way past the deadline because machines weren't turned on earlier today.

    2) Voter turnout in Gary and Hammond was as big as a general election and they simply can't count the ballots fast enough. MSNBC reported that they had to bring in extra counters.
  • Craig Hickman · 1 year ago
Hillary Rodham Nixon is a certifiable sociopath.
  • TruthSeeker · 1 year ago
I agree. This woman has no intention of helping unite the party. If she did she would have congratulated Obama right at the top of her speech. She would have asked her supporters to give him a round of applause.

Now, she's going to try and twist the arm of the Dems to seat FL and MI.

    Unbelievable!
  • Craig Hickman · 1 year ago
Obama needs 60% of the remaining votes to win this thing!
  • Craig Hickman · 1 year ago
Imagine, my people, if there was no re-emergence of Rev. Wright.

Imagine his margins of victory in both states.
  • rikyrah · 1 year ago
    craig hickman,

Andrew Sullivan straight out calls her a sociopath too tonight.
  • rikyrah · 1 year ago
CAN YOU FEEL IT - my own personal soundtrack...groovin' to it now, my fellow JJPers.
  • TruthSeeker · 1 year ago
Did you guys hear Jeff Toobin? He thought it suspicious that Lake county refused to release partial results until absentee ballots were counted. It could cover up any irregularities with the count if you can't see an jump in the numbers.
  • justice58 · 1 year ago
    Thank You North Carolina!
  • Teacher · 1 year ago
I would be so happy if Obama eeks out even the most miniscule lead in IN. They are talking about her huge debt now on MSNBC, hence, her begging in her "victory" speech. Her speech stunk. It was stupid. She is so fake. And what's up with Bill? His face looked so red on my tv, and everyone else looked normal.

Tim Russert talked about her dropping out if Obama agrees to pay off her debt. I hope he doesn't do it!!!!! Let her pay for her own dirty politics.

Harold Ford also plucks my nerves.

I don't think Hillbilly is going to campaign for Obama like the spinners think they are. And I wouldn't trust them anyway. When bill goes out to campaign,he wants to talk about what all he has done anyway. If she was his VP, I wouldn't vote for him, because to me, that would show crazy judgement.
  • Admiral Komack · 1 year ago
Can anyone give a good reason for Obama to have Hillary as his VP?

    I don't see it.

Harold Ford needs to shut up.
  • Ms.Martin · 1 year ago
    Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

    Thank you North Carolina.

I hope he wins Indiana so she can retract that "I broke the tie" I need more money speech.

Donna Brazile was setting folks straight tonight.
  • Black American Princess · 1 year ago
Indiana is absolutely the birthplace of the Klan. Not counting Gary and Naptown, it's redneck country. That's why I was so worried about Obama winning it. But God had other plans!!!

And thanks to everyone in North Carolina, that's what's UP!

Lawd, I will be sleeping with a smile on my face tonight!
  • Ms.Martin · 1 year ago
    New Count: 51% 49%
  • Honey01 · 1 year ago
    Hi Truthseeker (or anybody),
Please break it down for me. Are the absentee votes from just Lake County (which sounds high), or from Indiana in total?

If the 11,000 absentee votes are statewide, then is Lake County holding their cards so that they are in a position to crown Obama?
  • justice58 · 1 year ago
Do you guys see Keith Olbermann tonight?

    He can hardly contain himself!

    ahahahahahahahahahaha
  • N. Mahana · 1 year ago
    OMG!

I take back what I said earlier, I'm a poor elitist, so I'm going to sip my cheap merlot and celebrate!!!!

Even if she holds on by a strand in Indiana...OBAMA has won the night!!!!

    There is HOPE!!!
  • rikyrah · 1 year ago
    Olbermann has been hilarious.

So has Rachel Maddow. ...when she said that Obama should mow down Hillpatine, I nearly choked on the dessert I was eating.

And, Chuck Todd has been giddy with his math..he's finally allowed to slam the math hammer over and over, with nobody coming back to him with bullshit scenarios that he has to play along with like they can come to reality.
  • justice58 · 1 year ago
    Admiral Komack,

I agree with on Harold Ford Jr.!

    He needs to just STFU!
  • Diana · 1 year ago
"Shallow point - loved the fit of Michelle's dress, not too crazy about the color"
I agree with you. The style & fit were outstanding. She looks great in Peacock Blue & other cooler colors not the hotter neons.

I'm only talking about rubbish because the Indiana-spawned anxiety is killing me. I can't breathe!!
  • Admiral Komack · 1 year ago
    justice58:

    Thank you.

I'm tired of "Hillary as VP" talk.

Obama has earned the right to pick his own VP and he should stand up to the Democratic Pooh-Bahs who want Hillary as VP.

    rikyrah:

I think Rachel was correct in saying that Hillary wants "scorched earth.

NBC calls it for Hillary in Indiana:

    51% to 49% for Obama.
