They're getting bolder if you ask me
Where is this going to stop?
I hope it stops before it is too late if you see what I mean...
They are so brazen and arrogant.
-HELL YES!
How many more times does a Clinton surrogate have to say something racist before it becomes a pattern?
And why doesn't Hillary denounce this nearly as strongly as Obama did the Samantha Powers remark?
If anything this is worse, because it denigrates an entire race of people.
If the media were fair, they would stop tippy-toeing around this issue and call Hillary Clinton out on her racist campaign tactics.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqL_sm0J8jc
Her interview is actually worse than what is quoted. She is rabid and without any sense.
Just listen.
And, her luck may be that she's lucky that she was only married to the mob rather than being in the mob...
It shouldn't take long.
Help me out here. Are these people actually racist... or just stupid?
I must tell you that I'm an ER physician at a hospital in inner-city Baltimore. I encounter people on a nearly daily basis in the grips of acute mental disorders. But the psychological deterioration that the public is witnessing in the Clintons is truly fascinating. I don't recall anything in public life for the past twenty-five years that approaches the folie a deux of Bill and Hillary. I wasn't alive when LBJ was POTUS and I was an oblivious infant during Nixon's reign, but I'm sure that this past year of Billary will undergo serious psychological assessment. I'm awed by how Hillary Clinton is becoming everything that she accused Obama of: a pathetic, weak little figure unfit to lead; an untrustworthy individual who makes you wonder how in the hell did they reach their position and what do her supporters see in her to believe that she could actually be POTUS? I thought Bill would be severe enough to read the writing on the wall and hang it up but Mike Tyson has nothing on this man. As it stands he is rapidly becoming another Tiki Barber and losing all ties with his former team. Bill and Hillary Clinton are going to be treated like Jimmy and Roslyn Carter: peripheral figures and distant relatives that you see once in a while at a cookout, muster a forced smile and pat too aggressively on the back and quickly excuse yourself to go to the punch bowl. How can a so-called smart power couple be so utterly inept? She has to quit the race by the end of March to keep what little political they have left. She might be able to keep her Senate seat if she does so but if she tries to raise doubts about Obama's capacity to lead at the convention right before the fall campaign she will not have a future in public life.
They like it when we think we're different from our neighbors and we must be crazy to see what we see. They want us to feel isolated and powerless.
"kiss.my.lucky.black.ass" gave me the FINEST laugh I've had since Klinton began derailing this train... gut level, hearty good LAUGH.
Thanks for being yourselves and doing what you do. Just for the record, I think you're anything BUT BOOJIE... mho.
I read this early and couldn't believe it.
Obama's surrogates better get on this and respond soon!! I am beyond offended, yet not surprised. It looks like the Old Democratic party establishment is getting desperate to hold onto power.
So it's ok for Ferraro to play the gender card and the race card? Sybillary will never get my vote nor respect.
A few things. I am a Hillary supporter. I know that is not popular here but it is what it is.
A do not know if any poster here has had a chance to see the youtube spot "polished like gold" but you should. There is this 91yr unbelievable lady who talks about how she is so proud that America has finally found in itself the courage to have a "afro american" and a woman running for president. Then she says something I find remarkable. She says after I got over that; she asked herself who would be good for the country. The 91 yr old lady explained that the country was at the foot of the rough side of the mountain and needed to reach the top to be polished like gold.
Anyway, it is a very good video. Look, after you get over the wonderful thing of a "viable" black man running for president you need to ask yourself who is best to begin to solve all the financial and healthcare problems pledging our communities? To me how you honestly and soberly answer that question is how you should pick the democratic nominee.
I don't even know where to START with this comment.
Do you think that African Americans who support Barack Obama are only doing so because of his skin color? That they haven't asked themselves the questions you posed?
I am a white woman, and I don't think Hillary could successfully run a hot dog stand, much less this country.
And no, I won't get over what happened in this campaign. You assholes ran a RACIST campaign and betrayed the ideals you claimed to stand for. If Obama goes down, Bill and Hillary Clinton will be viewed by history as the murderers of the dream. It couldn't happen to two more deserving people--total scum bags who care about nothing other than their own power and betrayed their supposed ideals for their endless pursuit of power.
Clinton wins, I'm going to vote for McCain. Then I'll write a book about how Hillary Clinton's pathetic, shameful, vile and racist campaign destroyed the Democratic Party and set the struggle for Civil Rights back 75 years. It'll be one of 5,559 books on that subject.
Hillary stays in and tolerates bullshit like Ferraro, Wolfson, her husband, Mark Penn, Andrew Cuomo, Billy Shaheen, Bob Johnson, anonymous staffers, the Insight Magazine smear, the Machinists' union President and herself (she her despicable performance on 60 Minutes where she tried to insinuate Obama was a Muslim), it is ultimately her responsibility. The buck stops with her. Hillary has tolerated racism in her name, therefore she is fine with racism, which makes her personally a racist. (McCain is less of one, he at least denounced his version of the Machinists' President on the spot).
Hillary Clinton has shown herself to be a fraud; Bill Clinton has shown himself to be a fraud. And no, I won't get over it. They steal the nomination on Super Delegates, I'm doing everything I can to see McCain win. The Clintons don't deserve the respect of anyone who is actually thinking about the issues. Sorry, not going to get over it. But it is appropriate that the Clinton supporters would think that; the Clintons sold out unions, African Americans, and progressives in the 1990s. They are experts in taking people for granted. Payback is a tough thing to deal with; it happened in this election, and it couldn't have happened to a more deserving person than Hillary Clinton.
Read the rest of this blog.
I'm quite clear on where I stand about Hillary.
I.WILL.NEVER.VOTE.FOR.HER.
Once upon a time, I thought, I MIGHT be able to hold my nose, though I doubted it.
Her race-baiting, beginning with Billy Shaheen, made it impossible for me to ever vote for her.

Hello? Hello? Hello?
I can't hear you
Hillary is losing all credibility. She is becoming a grotesque joke. If she wants to still be influential and remain a senator, then she must quit the race by the end of March. Any potential gain she achieves in Pennsylvania will evaporate the following month in Indiana and North Carolina.
The outcome has been mathematically decided. She's gotta go freely or face eviction. And with the new scandal involving Gov. Spitzer, the media no longer has a vested interest in perpetuating the illusion of a viable Hillary.
This race was effectively decided in February. It was a Gettysburg moment. Sure the campaign continued, but the end was foretold. None other than Bill Clinton said that Hillary needed overwhelming victories in Texas and Ohio on March 4 in order to have a chance. That didn't happen.
I'm sorry for you and other Hillary supporters. The mainstream media and the Clintons colluded in deception. They made you think she had a real shot at winning legitimately. But now the media is moving on to fresh meat and is no longer propping up the house of cards.
Make no mistake. The convention is a coronation. The Clintons have made their supporters believe that something could be finessed at the convention but that hasn't been true since the Sixties.
Essentially Bill and Hillary have been hoping for the Democratic Party elites to do Barack what the Supreme Court did to Al Gore: ratify an outcome not supported by the numbers. This just can't happen without destroying the party apparatus.
If she cares about you and her supporters and is indeed the one to do the things that you describe, then Hillary needs to exercise the moral courage of a Robert E. Lee at Appomattox and concede the prize to Barack by the end of this month. They can put aside past differences and work together for the good of the nation and secure a Democrat victory.
But this relentless, win-at-all-costs thrust for the nomination is more becoming of a recklesss gambling addict doubling their bets after losing than an honest sober leader.
People don't be surprised, this is just the beginning. If he gets the nomination, and I believe he will, you might actually hear someone speak the word.
You are not speading any "knowledge"...if you want to vote for Hillary Clinton then fine...marvelous but I have thought through my decision. I believe that Senator Barack Obama is the superior choice for many reasons.
Thank You
Stephanie Tubbs

Hello? Hello? Hello?
I can't hear you
Clearly you can't hear. You are willfully blind, deaf and dumb just like HRC. You're probably a sixty-ish second wave feminist who thinks Gloria Steinem and her ilk actually make sense. Have you met any black people in the real world by chance?
Because if you did, then you would know that Waters, Tubbs Jones, Jackson Lee) have had ZERO impact on the votes in their own districts. And they have very little standing in the national black community with the exception of Maxine Waters (and her Clinton support has damaged that).
Michael Nutter (the mayor of Philly) will have the same impact on the black vote in Philly: NADA.
Neither party wins the "which is worse: racism or sexism?" debate.
Racism and sexism are alive and well right here in the 'progressive,' 'rainbow coalition' that is the modern Democrat party.
Keep this up and voters will be yearning for a kindly, grandfatherly, white man to keep them safe.
http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,926644,00.html
The former Veep began his formal search for a running mate by interviewing a black, a Southerner and a woman: Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley, followed by Senator Lloyd Bentsen of Texas and San Francisco Mayor Dianne Feinstein. Although most observers said his selection was unlikely, Mayor Bradley, the son of a sharecropper, touched reporters by reminding them how remarkable it was that a presidential nominee would even consider a black running mate. A female running mate (more probably Congresswoman Geraldine Ferraro of New York than Mayor Feinstein) is becoming increasingly possible. Mondale's political adviser John Reilly said a female candidacy would offer national appeal. "It cuts across geography," he noted.
Actually, I'm thinking it's quite the opposite. I think it is VERY fortunate that Clinton and Obama are running at this moment, at this time.
I have been too, too tired of racist Democrats acting as if black folk ought to vote for them just because they are democrats.
By the way, I am damn sure not voting for Barack just because he's black. Hell, Alan Keyes is in the race, I wouldn't insult dogs by voting him in as dog catcher. If Republicans hadn't been such assholes over the last, oh, lemme see, 150 years and beyond, they could have gotten more black folk to join the party.
If this destroys the Democratic Party, it NEEDED to be destroyed.
It's like a boil that needed to burst.
Go back and really listen to that Ferraro clip. It might have been scripted at one point, but it rolls into a whole new thing. She gets exasperated trying to make her point. She's thinkin' "What? Doesn't he get it? Why the hell doesn't he just play along?"
They have been playing the "insult black folk, just apologize, they will vote for you anway" game for so long, they believe that shit!
Racist and stupid. Damn.
I think it is time to prove them wrong.
But he's not. He's a Black man who has to put up with this kind of race-bating bullshit, from a northern white woman who calls herself a Democrat, no less.
It's going to be interesting to see how much more of this Obama will take before gut-punching one of these bitches. (Yeah--I used the "b" word, and I'm a feminist and a woman. I just call 'em like I see 'em.)
That's how mad I actually am. I had to physically restrain myself from hitting the "post" button because I knew that I was about to write some words that I wouldn't want my mama to see(LOL).
I am beyond pissed at this moment. This all started with that dumb a*s article by gloria steinem. It continued with that stupid, "B*tch is the new Black," comment on SNL and it's just gotten worse and worse ever since.
I wish someone would write an op-ed piece (perhaps Melissa Harris-Lacewell) and call them out on this nonsense. I'm so sick and tired of hearing white feminists distort black history and cheapen the black struggle for political gain. And the media buys into it hook, line and sinker.
I am trying soooooo hard to restrain myself, but some of these middle-aged white "feminists" are working my very last nerve! I won't chastise an entire group. But someone needs to tell these women to shut up.
It is the epitomy of privilege and entitlement. They're like that spoiled brat in "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory - stamping their feet and screamin' " . . . "Don't care how, I want it NOW!"
That's all they're saying. And they think they've earned the right to say this garbage about another minority and then hide behind the shield of being an "oppressed woman" (read, white woman).
It's clear that some of them think black men ain't sh*t. And, for the life of them, they can't understand . . . can't comprehend. . . can't fathom the FACT that this "uppity nigger" is whoopin' their a*ses! Man, that must drive them crazy! You know that's what's killing them right now. It burns, don't it!?!
Because you all know that it would be one thing if they could call him dumb, lazy, etc. But they can't do that. He's always been a step ahead of them.
So, like some have said, they'd rather paint him as the Affirmative Action candidate. Unreal!
This hits on a personal level. Because I'm sure that, like myself, all of you have had your "affirmative action moments," where whites use it as a crutch to dismiss your success.
Just like they're trying to dismiss Obama's success right now. So . . . now he's only winning because people like the "concept" of electing a black president? I'm with rikyrah. I didn't know that being black was a concept.
And, surprise, the media is silent on the issue!?!?!?
You can't say "boo" to Hillary Clinton without having N.O.W. jump down your throat. I'm with that anonymous poster from earlier on . . .Where the hell is the NAACP and other groups like that?!?! I mean, I don't need a civil rights march, but it would be nice to see someone stand up and draw attention to these types of comments.
james
It's clear that some of them think black men ain't sh*t. And, for the life of them, they can't understand . . . can't comprehend. . . can't fathom the FACT that this "uppity nigger" is whoopin' their a*ses!

I think she (ie, white fems) thinks MEN ain't sh*t! I think she's saying he's lucky he's a black man because if he was white, the fems would have him by the b*lls.
Because he is black, they can't go after him the way fems can go after a white man.
I dusagree with those who say if he was white, he'd be the nominee. If he was white he would have been evicerated long ago. Hard=core feminists are experts at emasculating white men.
The good news is that these people are getting desperate about a certain reality; namely, their days are numbered. Each day someone opens their mouth, another Super Delegate comes to Obama's side.
The day will come when someone from the Klinton Kamp will finally drop the N-bomb. On that day, we'll know that we've won.
I hear what you're saying.
I was talking to my sister yesterday and she said something very interesting.
She thinks that Hillary and her ilk are gonna slip up real soon and start calling him "boy."
That's when gender politics butts heads with racial politics. And Hillary's bold enough to try it.
This is highly probable. I've seen feminists use that term, "boy," when fighting patriarchy. But that will backfire BIG TIME if people like Erica Jong, Ferraro, Steinem, Taylor Marsh and N.O.W. try to take that rout with Obama.
They've already come close. Bill and Hillary were calling him "kid" back in January.
I'm telling you. Hillary's mouth is going to get her in trouble. Her campaign says whatever they want without consequence. The only problem with that is that it encourages them to keep talking. And people like Hillary don't know when to stop. They keep pushing their luck until it comes back to bite them.
Her mouth (or someone in her campaign) is gonna write a check that her a*s can't cash.
LOL! You and I were thinking (and typing) the same thing.
even worse is that these people are not really racists, but they are using racism in an entirely machiavellian manner.
now let's ask, isn't hillary lucky to be a woman? she's been playing her gender card to the ultimate, while obama is refusing to make much out of his race.
so it's her the lucky one, because if she were not a woman, she'd be out by now like all the other guys, except obama.

From CBS this morning:
Barack Obama continued to go after Hillary Clinton this evening, accusing her of using “Republican tactics” against him.
“When in the midst of a campaign you decide to throw the kitchen sink at your opponent because you’re behind,” he said, “and your campaign starts leaking photographs of me when I’m traveling overseas wearing the native clothes of those folks to make people afraid, and then you run an ad talking about who’s going to answer the phone at three in the morning, an ad straight out of the Republican playbook, that’s not real change.”
B.S.
These statements, the whole wiki, reflect on a mind state which devolves from being racist, even if it's not "really" racist (whatever the hell that is).
When Hillary Clinton can go to the SOBU needing to make amends for her campaigns race-baiting, etc. but instead carries the message that she and her husband have "been good to you nigras" talkin' about how her husband "apologized for slavery (ain't that good enough for ya'll nigras?)" then it's clear we're dealing with a mind set that goes beyond trying to use race to score political points.
In fact, the very practice of using race to score political points as early and often as Campaign Hillary begs the question: is it live or is it memorex?
If white Republicans/conservatives were doing it few people would try to excuse this behavior by claiming that the persons exhibiting the behavior aren't "really racist."
(Supposed) White liberals aren't exempt from being racist. The term paternalism comes to mind and feeling entitled is the flip side of it.
Obama says,
“Everybody always asks 'well, how come you haven’t already wrapped this up? Well, it’s because there are a lot of very powerful people who are doing very well under the existing system,” he said. “So they resist. They’ve got power and they’ve got money. But what we’ve got are the American people.”

Directly challenging the Superdelegates...is this a good thing to do? Ultimately they both NEED the superdelegates. Preserving the status quo can be very tempting, especially if it perceived that Obama is going to shake things up inside the party. Most would agree, that his main theme of change was taken to be a change from Bush and the corruption of the Republicans. He may find it more difficult to persuade supers if they feel too threatened.
Firmly in the pockets of the Clintons ... the leadership is anyway which counts for everything in terms of visibility and speaking out.
To be so shameless, and so brazen, so willing to say and do anything, I have got to believe that all of these negative comments will be trumped by the bomb to come.
I know y'all here think that this Rezko trail is going no where, but I recently read that as a Senator-elect, Obama may have violated the Senate ethics rule about 'gifts.'
The term ‘‘gift’’ means any gratuity, favor, discount, entertainment, hospitality, loan, forbearance, or other item having monetary value. The term includes gifts of services, training, transportation, lodging, and meals, whether provided in kind, by purchase of a ticket, payment in advance, or reimbursement after the expense has been incurred.
A real estate transaction designed to allow a senator to buy a house more expensive that his budget permits by splitting the house and the vacant lot next door into two parcels and having Mrs. Rezko buy the empty lot, that looks like a 'favor' done for an important man by a political fixer.
Everyone who recalls buying their first home and hunting for the down payment or getting some help from mom or dad knows what happened here --the Obamas got a favor from the Rezkos. Now Rezko is in the dock and his finances very murky, leading to the question of who really did the favor for Barack Obama.
Obama's not out of the woods on this I fear.
So she does have a completely valid point. But you're not really supposed to come out and say it.
Hate to burst your bubble, but Illinois has been fast becoming a solidly Dem state. The Republican party is all but dead there. No help from Obama was necessary.
Don't get too cocky.
In other words, if this were based on issues/politics alone I would not be overly concerned. What I am concerned about is African Americans being used a a pawn in this dirty game of politics and I will NOT accept it!
So much BS that you hinge on this one ignorant lie. Anyone who has purchased (and many who haven't) knows that houses are built on lots and larger acreage is divided into lots (or parcels if you prefer) by the local zoning commission or whatever is the land development authority. So neither the Obamas nor Rezko could have "split the house and the vacant lot next door" for resale purposes because those separate pieces of real estate were never one large item of real property. The lot that the house sat on is and was always one piece of real estate and the adjacent lot was always a second, different, and distinct piece of real estate ---they both just had the same previous owner.
However, any person who owned those TWO SEPARATE ITEMS OF REAL PROPERTY or any other multiple pieces of property may choose to sell them at different times, at the same time, or sell one piece of property and keep the others forever; they may also sell them to different individuals or multiple persons in partnership or to one buyer. Just because one owns multiple lots doesn't mean that they are all the same real property, by definition, reality and fact they never are. People who buy larger pieces of land are always buying more than one lot/parcel, which are multiple but separate pieces of property.
OOO
I think it's a nice companion piece to the Spitzer story - crazy NY politicians do/say some pretty fucked up things!!
______________________________________
Who says you're not supposed to say it...the hypocritical, politically correct, oppressive, Democrat party.
The party is eating itself alive and when its over the winner will say, "If I didn't do it, the Republicans surely would have."
Having the Republicans as a scapegoat may help you to rationalize the racism and sexism within your own party, but you will pay a high price in the end.
The truth is the Democrat party's life's work is to elevate it's 'victim groups' by trying to create an imaginary, level playing field.
To create 'fairness'.
Who ever said life was fair. No one can 'make it fair.'
Obama is where he is today, in large part, because of Affirmative Action. Hillary is where she is, in large part, because of her husband.
Neither are playing fair. They have both benefited from a party that has elevated them and made everyone feel so good about how fair and inclusive and utopian the Democrat Party is. It's not real.
We all struggle. We all face obstacles to overcome. And in the end, as my Pop always told me, "No one is going to look out for you, EXCEPT you."
Conservatives don't promise to protect anyone from racism and sexism and all the ills of the human condition, like liberals do.
Victims have been asked to put their trust in a party that has been promising that they will be rewarded for their victimhood. Now two groups are vying for the same prize and now the illusion of 'fairness' is shattered.
'Fairness' has always been the pretense for 'dependence.'
The seller was only willing to seel both lots AT THE SAME TIME. Would the Obama's have been able to afford both lots? No. Obama has admitted as much.
Did Rezko do him a 'favor' by agreeing to but the second lot?
Did this 'favor' violate Senate Ethics rules?
That is the question. Your argument does not address this question.
It's like that's a requirement to write some random shit.
So, despite what is clearly a strategy in the Clinton campaign to brand Obama as the Affirmative Action candidate (which I wrote about over at my blog) nobody is really going to report on that because it's too close to calling somebody in power in racist. Y'all know white people equate being called a racist to calling a black person a nigger.
It is a self-hating and racist fallacy to cast every successful Black person as only being successful due to affirmative action. If you are only quasi-successful because of affirmative action, then speak to your own story and diminishing of your accomplishments but don't speak as if you know ish about how Senator Obama got to where he is. He is currently in primary position for the nomination that would have been long ago sealed by the party if he was white but for some "unknown" reason he is having to work three times as hard to get credit for half as much. When he wins the presidency , I hope people like you who may have the inkling to say he is president "in large part due to affirmative action" would for once shut the heaven up.
-------------------------------------
Anonymous 7:58, the answer to your original BS is there but you are obviously incapable of accepting it. The kitchen sink strategy requires using any and every smear and hoping it sticks to the brains of fools but once it has (your case in point) it is almost impossible to scrub that small area of the dirt.
The most Senator Obama is guilty of is continuing to associate with a friend who had mounting legal issues ensuing---anything else is simply desparation politics without cause, substance, proof, or basis in the rule of law. If the man, so to speak, could have gotten him on any of the BS you try to spread, they would have. They are not holding back just as a favor to him; everyone who has intimate knowledge of the situation admits and acknowledges that Senator Obama is accused of NO WRONGDOING related to Rezko. In case you are unaware, it was Rezko's wife who purchased the adjacent lot ...you may want to find a way to weave at least one truth into your smear.
OOO
*How* do you know that Obama is "where he is" because of Affirmative Action? The very notion is racist--you assume that he has no intelligence, no qualifications to be where he is (Harvard law graduate, Senator from Illinois) and that he somehow "depended" on liberal whites to be gracious enough to let his poor, unqualified self into law school. To that notion, I ask you *anonymous*, "Where's your proof?"
Oh, you don't have any, you say? You just thought you'd troll around, hiding behind anonymity and your own deeply sedimented racist nonsense in order to make stupid comments about a candidate about whom you clearly know less than nothing? Go sit in a corner somewhere until you get a clue.
During an interview on the Al Sharpton show, Ralph Nader reported that one of Clinton's surrogates use the term "boy" when referring to Barack. Specifically, "we're going to take this boy down", Nader said.
Your assessment would be brilliant if you weren't absolutely short-sighted and wrong. If Obama benefited from Affirmative Action, then Hillary benefited not only from Affirmative Action but also being married to Bill. So in the "oppression game", we'd do better not to rank, as white women have been the overwhelming majority of "minorities" who have benefited from Affirmative Action and they benefit twice from it because people usually forget that they have been beneficiaries and want to start pulling out the black and brown problem.
Gerraldine Ferraro benefited from Affirmative Action as did Hillary Clinton. Almost every one is this country has benefited from Affirmative Action and I'll tell you how, without the first very white and very white system of Affirmative Action (that is in play today), the reactionary system of Affirmative Action wouldn't have had to have been created. No one got there by merit alone, buddy and that's what pains the fuck out of you meritocracy types. There's no person in this country that has ever done it without anyone else's help.
Let's put this shit in perspective, more white women exist than the entirety of the black population. Black people only make up about 33-35 million people in the country.
We all struggle. We all face obstacles to overcome. And in the end, as my Pop always told me, "No one is going to look out for you, EXCEPT you."
Excellent piece of conventional wisdom but we don't all face the same level of obstacles and respect has got to be given to that.
Not only that, but believe it or not other people are looking out for you on an "outside level" and they make sure that people like you
(who no one is looking out for) that they know, get preferred treatment and opportunities that other people (who no one is looking out for) that they don't know will never get. That's the other affirmative action, your pop's advice would be brilliant if we were all one man islands who rarely came in contact with other people and if no society existed. But yes, Virginia people are actually looking out for you.
If, as a white woman from a wealthy background you make it into an Ivy League college and obtain a successful job as Senator, you haven't had the same obstacles as a lower middle class white woman who made it into the same instance so to consider your struggles equal is to negate the very real differences that exist between the two parties.
I don't think any critical thinking people of color or white women in any large number have ever been fooled into thinking that the Democrats are a Utopian party. That's a strawman.
There is no victimhood, you guys are always talking about that because you're upset that no one sees you as a victim. Because you think life would be so much easier if someone would just "look at my problems and see I've overcome, too".. You want a piece of the "victim" pie and it's in every word you guys ever type that goes down this line of thinking.
You think victim is something to be reviled and yet you want it so bad you can taste it. Contrary to popular belief, as a black person, I don't revel in victimhood. I don't want to be a mascot/hero/constant victim, but you need to paint that narrative otherwise you can't look at me with the same humanity that you would look at yourself. And that is the crux of all of your arguments, it would behoove you to have to think of your "enemies" as fucking human beings. Make no mistake this is exactly what people who disagree with you in this fashion are. You don't talk to people you respect the way you're talking to "liberals" here.
It's much simpler to say we're victims. Because if we didn't, who knows we might actually be like you. And then you'd have to question why is it that people who are like me are living under an entirely different type of rule in the United States? And why is it that people who are like me and just as qualified as me get paid less than me? And why do women get paid only 70% on the dollar? And why if education is the key do sometimes really educated white women and people of color have fewer opportunities than I do? And why are these people who are like me, pulled over more often than I am? And why are these people who are like me dying at a higher rate from heart disease? And why are these people stressed out? And why is it that these people who are just like me have problems that I don't have to deal with or that I can brush to the side and pretend never happened? Why is that?
But that would require too much self-examination. It's much easier to look at someone else and think you know the problem when you have "conventional wisdom" that doesn't support facts, but is "what we all know to be true". Even in your complete ridiculousness and inaccuracy you speak with authority
It's easy to ask whoever said life was fair, when you're reaping the benefits of it being unfair. Fairness is dependent sure, but you know what, the people who benefit from unfairness will never try to change that and you're evidence of it. You can like that, but I have every right to want to change it so that it benefits not only me, but others like me and that's regardless of party affiliation.
That kind of "look out for myself, fuck everyone else" attitude is precisely what I'm repulsed by regardless of party affiliation.
Your Pops should have told you that after all is said and done, if you write a check and you sign your name to it, not to be surprised if the people you wrote the check to want to cash it. We were written a check by this country and we're cashing it. Now, what we have to decide is how do we pay for this check of equality, how do we balance it... The world is changing and you can hold onto your partisan know-it-all-ism, and your "conventional wisdom", but don't be surprised when you're no longer preferred candidate.

My proof is Affirmative Action itself. Is no black the beneficiary of it? Has no woman benefited from it?
It makes no sense to believe that Affirmative Action was created, yet NO ONE benefits!
Of course he's smart, of course he's qualified and the whole point of Affirmative Action is to find smart and qualified minorities (black and women, hispanics, gays, et al) and elevate them to the Ivy League and such. Level the playing field for all of us victims of circumstances beyond our control. Affirmative Action was created because liberals think we all need their help.
Is it really necessary to insult me and call me racist because I happen to say something with which you do not agree? I am not making this stuff up out of thin air. It exists and it exists in the party which has for the last 40 years, been telling everyone how fair it is.
______________________________________
All was well in the Democrat Party as long as all of the various groups felt they held the same amount of power. Now that blacks and women are coming up against each other, they are crying, "It's not fair."
It would be soothing for you to think I want to be a victim. After all, misery loves company.

"F**K everyone else attitude." Those are your words, not mine. Don't foist your issues on to me. Simply because I have been taught to be self-reliant, hard-working, and independent, doesn't mean I don't care about my fellow man.
This system of 'political correctness' and 'fairness' foster dependence and resentment. Don't hate me because I am free.
So she does have a completely valid point. But you're not really supposed to come out and say it.

We did when his name was John F. Kennedy.
If a person's message resonates, s/he gets attention and votes.
Period.
Doesn't matter their race.
Or level of experience.
I must disagree with your statement. A public face who has pretended for years to stand for all people who now makes race the issue instead of the candidates and insults all of us by calling him a concept, is the worst kind of racist. The closet racist.
It speaks volumes about the core beliefs of the speaker of the words.
Valid point, Craig. But what Ferraro did was reduce Barack down to a "concept" because he's Black. She didn't see his Blackness as a contributing factor; as a bonus. She characterized his Blackness as some kind of unfair advantage against over some anonymous white person.
Did she view her VP run with Walter Mondale as a "concept"?
She characterized his Blackness as some kind of unfair advantage against over some anonymous white person.
May I quote you on that?
btw, none of the blogs I emailed have said boo about this. The only other place I saw it was here: http://slog.thestranger.com/
Um, where are the calls for her to resign? "Monster" is a terrible thing to call someone, but this is totally cool with the MSM? WTF?
The concept of unqualified minorities getting a leg up makes a lot of people stinking mad. But those same people are A.O.K. with morons getting ahead just because of lineage.
And, no, I'm not saying Hillary is an idiot. But what I don't get is how it's just a given that she's such a brilliant mind and so much more qualified with Obama. I hope there will be further investigation into her foreign policy "expertise" - I want to hear firsthand from Sinbad.
Now he'll win because he's black _ Ferraro
1. If “Hillary” was a black man, she would not be in this position,” “And if she was a woman (of any “other” color) she would not be in this position. She happens to be very lucky to be married to whom she is married to.”
All of this was acceptable and even praised as long as the 'enemy' was the Republicans.
Now Obama and his supporters are the 'enemy'.
Does the Democrat party have the ability to purge itself of this destructive brand of politics? Obama's message may resonate with the broader, general electorate, but is 1/2 of the Democrat party will to own up and take responsibility for their actions or complicity in the actions of their leaders? We have given the Clinton's a pass so many times, for so long. Until a majority of Democrats reject this behavior, it will grow, pervade and dominate the party.
Wait. Who has the most delegates right now? Why the hell is a Clinton candidacy being discussed anywhere as a plausible option. This is so fucked up.
Sorry about the cursing. I've literally been driven to drink.
Democrats love to feel good about themselves and their choices. They vote on emotion, how a candidate makes them feel.
'Voting for Hillary makes me feel proud to be a woman.'
'I feel America is ready for a woman president."
'Voting for Obama makes me proud to be black.'
'I feel America is ready for a black president.'
These may not be the ONLY reasons, but they are reasons for sure. And with little policy and experience difference between them, personal identification with their candidate has become A PRIMARY for support.
This is why we see the party breaking along racial, gender and class lines.
Since there is no real ideological difference between the candidates, no policy positions upon which to draw significant contrasts, all we have left is race, gender and class. How those differences will be exploited, and who will be the most effective, remains to be seen.
Which group will emerge victorious over the other. Will the voters decide? Or are the voters to be viewed as dependent children, who need superdelegates to show them the way. The child that throws the biggest temper tantrum will wear down the party elders and win the nomination.
::
This myth is tiring.
Clinton wants to mandate health insurance for all. Obama does not.
That's a clear and HUGE difference.
Obama wants to repeal the entirety of DOMA. Clinton does not.
That's a clear and HUGE difference.
Obama wants civil union rights to extend to immigration issues. Clinton does not.
That's a clear and HUGE difference.
Clinton is a hawk. Obama is not.
That's a clear and HUGE difference.
Clinton wants to fight unfairly even against her party memebers. Obama does not.
That's a clear and HUGE difference.
I could go on, but you get my point.
Do your own research. Don't regurgitate bullshit.
It's not okay.
And Susan Rice is the only Black person to go on record against these remarks?
So, in a way, Geri FerretFace's point is 100% valid and something everyone already realizes, but very, very, very few will actually utter out loud.
Not PC, but true.
That's what is killing me! How the hell can she claim she is the victim of media bias when the media is treating this insanity with respect! It feels like an episode of the Twilight Zone! If Obama was losing in delegates, states and popular vote, but nonetheless suggesting Clinton as his VP, the collective national response would be, "that nigger is crazy!"
What superior experience does John Edwards have, you ignorant mother fucker?
John Edwards was a one term Senator, period!
Do Gore, Edwards, Kennedy, Durbin, Mitchell and Jesse Jackson know something we don't?
Check this out:
Rezko, along with co-defendants Ali Ata and Abdelhamid Chaib, face federal grand jury charges presented in October 2006 by the U.S. Attorney for Northern Illinois, Patrick Fitzgerald. The case centers on allegations of fraud between 2000 and 2004 in the sale of 17 Papa Johns’ Pizza parlors in Detroit, Chicago and Milwaukee. The case may begin with pizza, but it leads to Europe, Syria, Iraq, and the UN Oil for Food program.

You asked, "When will the Democratic Leadership stand up to the Clinton Campaign?"
Well, Nancy Pelosi just spoke out against the Clinton campaign. She said that the "dream ticket," is "impossible," and guess who she's blaming . . .
Here's the quote:
"I think that the Clinton administration has fairly ruled that [dream ticket] out by proclaiming that Senator McCain would be a better Commander in Chief than Obama. I think that either way is impossible," she continued, "Nothing ever resolves itself -- it has to be resolved by some outside forces . . ."
Uh oh! Not good news for Hillary Clinton. Looks like you tick off a lot of the Democratic Leadership when you try to throw the Democratic frontrunner under the bus and give the RNC its talking points for the fall.
Now, Pelosi remains "neutral," but this is as strong a condemnation as you'll probably see from her.
Let's hope that this is a sign of things to come. Maybe . . . just maybe the Democrats will show some spine and do the right thing.
We'll have to wait and see.
Link: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/03/11/pelosi... last thing. I am somewhat pleased by the fact that there are some people who are finally beginning to call the Clintons on their bs. Keith Olbermann, Randi Rhodes, Ed Shultz and Stephanie Miller have done a great job of pointing out some of these issues.
The television MSM is out to lunch. But talk radio and the internet media are starting to get on Hillary's case. And the anger is growing each and every day. They're not ignoring the math. They're not falling for that "tight horse-race" crap.
They look at the math (as they did with EVERY other candidate) and realize that Hillary can't win this thing without the super delegates. They're getting more and more upset at the fact that, because she can't win, all Hillary is doing is hurting the party in the process.
What an example of reducing a complex man to the color of his complexion.
All Geraldine sees is a black man.
Shameful.
"What an example of reducing a complex man to the color of his complexion.
All Geraldine sees is a black man.
Shameful. "
And, as we're seeing in state after state, the same can be said about 9 out of 10 black voters.
Yes. Shameful. Embarrassing.
If the only thing they've got on Obama is Rezko and some bad land deal (a backyard for his friggin daughters), then that's pretty sad.
Let's look at the Clinton's dealings. The Presidential Library and Saudi donors, and Bill's trip to Uzbekistan to praise the dictator over there so he could get a $30mil donation for his foundation are the first to come to my mind. Can anybody think of any others?
You show me someone who hasn't done something questionable in their lifetime, and I'll show you a liar.
Seriously, when did America turn into Ghana? Have we forgotten that for the past 230 years the American presidency has been the pedestal of white male privilege?
Maybe black men should look in the mirror and realize our manhood gives us an advantage at least over black women. However, would these bitter old white feminists like Geraldine Ferraro and Gloria Steinem like to trade places with black men?
-------------------------------------
Oh you wish it was so simple. We are talking about a very wealthy man(Auchi) with a history of bribing politicans. He lent Rezko $3.5 million dollars, a loan that was later forgiven for a prime slice of Chicago real estate. Rezko gave $700,000 to his wife, who in turn used part of the money to buy Obama a backyard.
n 2003, Auchi was convicted in France for receiving about $100 million in illegal commissions as part of a scandal involving the French oil giant ELF Aquitane. The UK Guardian termed the scandal, “the biggest fraud inquiry in Europe since the Second World War. Elf became a private bank for its executives who spent £200 million on political favours, mistresses, jewelery, fine art, villas and apartments."
Auchi’s General Mediterranean Holdings financed a 250 megawatt power plant in the Kurdish town of Chamchamal, Iraq along with Rezko and Iraq's former Minister of Electricity (and Chicago resident), Aiham Alsamarrae.
Returning in 2003 to post-Saddam Iraq, Alsamarrae had been made Minister of Electricity under the occupation government of Paul Bremer. Alsamarrae escaped “the Chicago way” from the Green Zone in December, 2006 after being held for four months in relation to a $2 billion Iraqi reconstruction corruption case.

“(In 2004) Mr. Auchi traveled by private aircraft to Midway Airport in Chicago and then to a fete at the Four Season Hotel, where he met with his business partner in Chicago real estate, Mr. Rezko, as well as with Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich. Also present that night, according to a fresh report by James Bone and Dominic Kennedy of the London Times, was State Senator Barack Obama, who had recently won the Democratic primary for the U.S. Senate seat….”
Auchi, "has been able to collect British politicians the way other people collect stamps,” wrote Nick Cohen in a 2003 profile of Mr. Auchi in the left wing British newspaper the Observer.
Given Mr. Auchi’s shady past, his history of bribing politicians, it’s not unreasonable to ask if Mr. Auchi, through Mr. Rezko, was trying to buy influence with a rising political star.

It's a trap, and IMO the best way to avoid it is to refuse to engage in a discussion about affirmative action and focus instead on the benefits of equal opportunity. I think it's a concept most people respond very positively to, and it applies just as much to Clinton's Yale law degree as it does to Obama's Harvard law degree.
I'd love to see Obama respond by talking up equal opportunity and pointing to all the ways Clinton has benefited from it (along with backhanded praise about how that's been a good thing), link it to American traditions of fairness and to his personal "only in America" story AND find a way of slipping in a sly reference to how, if Harvard and Yale had started restricting admission only to those students who are actually qualified years before they did, maybe we wouldn't have been stuck with George W. Bush as president today.
Given how deftly he's been responding to other attacks recently, I have no doubts he can turn this one around on Clinton too.
Hillary Clinton said she didn't know Rezko, and a few days later an embarrassing picture of her with Rezko surfaced on the internet. I take her word, though, that she didn't know Rezko personally and that she's taken pictures with thousands of people.
Yet, you are trying to tie Obama to this former Ba'athist because Obama was present at a meeting. What was this meeting? Was it a fundraiser? A dinner? To hear you tell it, the meeting was some sort of Skull and Bones affair. You're trying to make a story out of a non-story. But like I said, that's what xenophobes and racists do.
A McCain advisor helped Ahmad Chalabi trump up evidence about Iraq's WMDs in the lead up to the war. Chalabi, I think, is still wanted by the Jordanian government for some fraud he committed. But I don't think McCain can be directly tied to Chalabi because of this. McCain CAN be tied to corruption, but not through some friend of a friend.
Like I said earlier, we all have done some questionable things and have had shady friends, family members, and associates. And like I also said, if the only thing you trolls can dig up is Rezko, you're in some serious f*cking trouble in November because Obama will win
You can write back whatever b*llsh*t defense you want, but I won't respond because I'm tired of feeding the trolls.
I dare you.

On one hand, I'm sitting here thinking is this more of Billary's so called "brilliant" strategy? She wants US/Obama/His surruogates to get pissed and demand she denounce/reject whatever Ferraro's comments. The fact is she CHOSE NOT to be clear in rejection of this racist rhetoric. The only statement thus far from her camp was brief that they "disagreed" with the commments. I think this is again their attempt to do a couple of things (1) remind voters hey this is a NIGRA you is voting for, (2)should he be the nominee, damage him somthing awful by continuing to aid McCain. I mean what else get's the right wing going more that "affirmative action". She already knows she has lost the African American vote in the primary. Pundits are always saying people have short memories in politics so she perhaps she thinks we will vote for her another day, another election (or perhaps her thinking is she does need us, she has the Latino vote).
But yeah, where is so called Black Leadership (where ya at Stephanie Tubbs)?
Lord help me, Pat Buchanan is on right now talking about this.

Nor would it be unreasonable to ask the Clinton's about the fate of some of their "friends", employees and associates:
This is what happens when you have dirt on Clinton:
1 - James McDougal - Clinton’s convicted Whitewater partner died of an apparent heart attack, while in solitary confinement. He was a key witness in Ken Starr’s investigation.

8 - Jerry Parks - Head of Clinton’s gubernatorial security team in Little Rock. Gunned down in his car at a deserted intersection outside Little Rock. Park’s son said his father was building a dossier on Clinton. He allegedly threatened to reveal this information. After he died the files were mysteriously removed from his house. 9 - James Bunch - Died from a gunshot suicide. It was reported that he had a “Black Book” of people which contained names of influential people who visited prostitutes in Texas and Arkansas.

Whitewater v. Rezko: The Battle of the Billing Records
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/karen-russell/whitewater-v-rezko-the-_b_83040.html
NOT, THIS IS A CAMPAIGN STRATEGY and has been I doubt the Clintons and their friends are as racist as they want the base (uneducated working class white folks) to think they are. The Clinton Campaign does not care if they lose the black vote if through their tactics they can get twice as many angry white folks to take their place.
Each time something clearly playing to race is said, we speak up, the media inflates it and trys to speak our issue as if we are not individuals with our own thoughts and problems with what's going on, and white America who was either not sure about Senator Obama or on the fence, stand up to defend their own kind.
I've said it before, but it bares repeating; shame on the black folks who are involved with the campaign and know what's really going on.
It is a plan, along with the muslim thing, the Farrakhan thing, the experience thing and so on. It is also part of the plan to have these same voters that were turned against Mr. Obama in the primary vote against him in a general.
I am so sick about the way this race has played out. Hillary and Bill Clinton have set race relations back in an effort to gain the nomination. Yet, they say they love this country and have always tried to help blacks. I guess they wanted to help us until we tried to help ourselves.

I'm not surprised at all by Geraldine's comments, the closer Obama gets to the nominee the more the haters lose their cool.
But here's a thought: Are these older white women tripping off the fact that Obama's wife, Michelle could become the most powerful woman in America? Don't get me wrong there are millions of commendable white people showing Obama love and it feels so good to see that. But the polls show an overwhelming number of older white women voting for HRC. I strongly believe many of these women have a problem with a black woman up in there a white house, a Black 1st Lady is a hard pill for them to swallow.
I happen to be married to a successful white man and I constantly hear white women mutter that they can't believe my husband is with a black woman and that I don't deserve the spoils of an accomplished white person's success.
I'm just sayin, Geraldine and the others problem is with Michelle more so than Obama. (Don't ask me what's wrong with Sheila Jackson Lee and the minstrel show.) What do you think?
the general. And what does the party
leadership say?
NOTHING so far!
"If Jesse Jackson were not black, he wouldn't be in the race"
Geraldine Ferraro, April 15, 1988 Washington Post
Placid of demeanor but pointed in his rhetoric, Jackson struck out repeatedly today against those who suggest his race has been an asset in the campaign. President Reagan suggested Tuesday that people don't ask Jackson tough questions because of his race. And former representative Geraldine A. Ferraro (D-N.Y.) said Wednesday that because of his "radical" views, "if Jesse Jackson were not black, he wouldn't be in the race."

society noir,
I think you are on the money. I DO believe they have a WHOLE lotta problems with Michelle. Not only because she's a Black woman, but because she's a VISIBLY Black woman.
And, because, Michelle seems so absolutely comfortable in her own skin. She knows who she is and doesn't shy away from it.
So, I definitely believe Michelle freaks them out.
I take solace in the fact that she's getting her rear end kicked all over the country. I just hope that, in the end, this country reassures me that, as a people, we're better than this scum.
Otherwise, Christ, I should've just stayed in Britain and never have come back.
How swiftly things can reach a critical mass and change! Many people got comfortable with the social status quo and then BAM! Even AA's were taken by surprise.
I have to give young people of all races props for being ready though! They really make me proud. They were the first ones to hear and respond to Barack's message.
Yep, they are a hateful bunch but I'm glad they are letting the masks drop and showing their true monstrous nature.
And yes..please add this to the Wiki page. Goat Ferraro deserves it.
