And with a 24-hour, corporately-owned, predominantly White-operated, pro-White Female media ...
the strategy's working in some segments of society.
http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/03/12/ferraro.comments/index.html?iref=topnews
"I am stepping down from your finance committee so I can speak for myself and you can continue to speak for yourself about what is at stake in this campaign," Ferraro wrote in a letter to Clinton. "The Obama campaign is attacking me to hurt you. I won't let that happen."
Sweet Jesus...this woman's got some gall....
1) Remind all the disgruntled white people that Affirmative Action is giving the good jobs to people who aren't as qualified as they are, but they get the job because they are "lucky" to be black.
2) Call Obama "lucky". Point out to disguntled white folks that Obama is just like those people where they work who got where they are because of Affirmative Action.
3) Stir, Bake, Enjoy.
Listen - they have already lost the black vote thanks to Bill. So why NOT stir up the undercurrent of racism that flows through the suburbs and rural areas in Pennsyvania? What else do they have? They have - literally - NOTHING TO LOSE.
And it isn't just blacks who will stay home. It's the young people who Obama has brought into the process; it's liberal whites, who Obama has won the support of; and it's the military families who Obama has won big with.
Those people will all stay home for varying reason. McCain vs. Clinton=McCain 77 Clinton 23. And a 50 state landslide. The only question is whether she'll be able to carry the battle ground of the District of Columbia...
Party leaders must act now to end this before the party is destroyed. Super Delegates were created after Ted Kennedy took a wounded and fruitless candidacy to the convention in 1980. Super Delegates have the job of stopping wounded and fruitless candidacies, like that of Senator Clinton.

And I am quite sure he would not have been offered the role of keynote speaker at the Democratic convention in 2004:
Stephanie Cutter, communications director for the Kerry campaign, explained why the campaign chose Mr. Obama, a former community organizer and Harvard-educated civil rights lawyer: ''We believe he represents the future of the party.''
Mr. Kerry's supporters say they hope the choice will also sway those who have accused Mr. Kerry of failing to include enough minorities in top campaign roles and, more broadly, of failing to excite black voters.
''This represents the Democrats reaching out,'' the Rev. Jesse Jackson said. ''It's important because the destiny of the Democratic Party is tied up, in some sense, in the growth of the minority base.''
And I am quite sure that we wouldn't hear talk about Obama transcending race and healing our nation's racial divides if he were white. Just for example, John Edwards made ending poverty the centerpiece of his campaign, and there are proportionately more blacks than whites - did anyone talk about Edwards' racial transcendence?
Absurd and telling overreaction! Yes, Ferraro's statement is hypocritical. It drips with unseemly envy and entitlement. It's unrealistic--by the time any politician gets to the stratopsheric level of presidential contender, he or she has almost certainly had some morally arbitrary lucky breaks (like being a black, or an Italian, or a Bush, or just being in the right place at the right time). But why is it "offensive"? It is, after all, true. Maybe that's the problem. Is it 'offensive' to hit too close to the sensitive weak spot of Democratic race-preference ideology in a Democratic primary? I guess.
Party leaders must act now to end this before the party is destroyed. Super Delegates were created after Ted Kennedy took a wounded and fruitless candidacy to the convention in 1980. Super Delegates have the job of stopping wounded and fruitless candidacies, like that of Senator Clinton.
Amen, bagofhealthandpolitics. Hilary and Bill won't go peacefully. It's time for the leadership to denounce and reject their and Barack needs to take this opportunity to appear presidential and make a measured careful speech on the matter and show us his supporters why we need him and risk his political capital and make a speech on primetime in Indiana about racial reconciliation and moving away from using blacks as political football. The Clinton's have set race reconciliation back to the Eighties and are pushing it to the George Wallace style Fifties. The CBC en bloc, including HRC kneegrows, must NOT FUCK UP! This is making me boiling mad. TAVIS SMILEY needs to STAND THE FUCK UP and in his words "question" Hillary Rodham Clinton on this decided turn for the worse.
She's simply stating what every person in the U.S. who isn't black - whites, hispanics, asians, indians, etc etc - already knows: A white half-term senator with Obama's utterly paltry credentials wouldn't have made it past primary 1. In fact, he'd be mocked and ridiculed.
Blacks don't like the truth being spoken?
Gee. Big surprise there.
Tough f'ing $h*t.
1) laying groundwork for 2012 by "blackening" Obama ..and in order to squeeze out every last vote possible now. If she can "damage" him enough, it will give McCain an edge and maybe a single term win.
2) in the meantime, creating noise & controversy to drown out & distract from the fact the math is against her in order to keep the donations flowing and justify remaining in the race. Her supporters will continue to give if they think she still has a chance.
3) Using those donations to create an illusion of public endorsement while looking for angles to take Obama out. She wants to stick around in case he slips up...maybe something might happen to give her an edge with superdelegates. So what if he's damaged?...all the better for her in any scenario!
She is playing on many fronts...none of which have anything to do with what's best for the Dem party. If Obama prevails, she may undermine him while he's in the White House.
Many of the superdelegates who support her do so out of friendship and loyalty...nothing to do with what's best for the party or her capability. They are holding up th show. They need to move now to put an end to this madness!
Listing of superdelegates and who they support
On affirmative action, Obama, a Harvard Law School graduate, said he thinks that someday when his two young daughters apply to college, they “should probably be treated by any admissions officer as folks who are pretty advantaged” and there is nothing wrong with that.
“I think that we should take into account white kids who have been disadvantaged and been brought up in poverty and shown themselves to have what it takes to succeed,” he added. “There are a lot of African-American kids who are still struggling.”
Obama said that “if we have done what needs to be done to ensure that kids who are qualified to go to college can afford it, that affirmative action becomes a diminishing tool for us to achieve racial equality in this society.”
Does anyone know if this is still his position?

John Kerry and Jesse Jackson wrer mighty proud of themselves when they elevated Obama as "the future of the Democrat party." But now, these party elites who have been pulling the strings may not be so quick to have Obama overtake them.
Cut to 'a smoke-filled room.'
Jesse Jackson, Kennedy, Kerry, Gore, ALL FAILED PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES say:
"We'll let you know when it's your turn Barak."
-Wrong.
This is Hillary Clinton's campaign.
SHE gets the blame.
P.S. I loved the video.
Yeah...well, Maybe those activated, engaged young voters might have other ideas....there's no going back for them. If this is stolen, I think there will be rioting. And/or, all those jokers will be voted from office.
-I saw it and Keli Goff didn't back down either!
Keith was slammin'!
Try Business As Usual, instead.
The good thing is the more Obama uses the race card to destroy people, the less effective it will be. They will try to use it in the general against Repubs, of course, but using it on fellow lefties in the primary dilutes it's power.
And Ferraro isn't going to shut-up about this. The outrage in her eyes and voice were so clear. She's spent her life as a liberal partisan, and now gets publicly called a racist and thrown under the bus. It's hard to imagine a bigger insult to someone like her.
I understand that, rather than meekly apologize, she's demanding Obama apologizes to her. I don't know if the Obama people realize what kind of fight they just picked.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
If the situations were reversed, would they be doing this for Obama? Of course not, they only do this for Hillary.
It took Oregon 10 years to perfect mail in voting. How many want to bet that FL, of all places, gets it right the first time, in a matter of week?
And how many want to bet that it will be the votes of the African American community that somehow end up being "lost" in the mail, that will one day be found in a dumpster, long after the vote has been counted and announced?
Will you hold your nose and still vote for her?
Gotta ask.
You are not a unique snowflake, and sometimes someone really is more qualified than you.
In addition, it’s highly unlikely that Obama’s trademark statements about coming together as a nation – the ones that drive the crowds wild -- would have much resonance coming from him were it were not for his race. Obama is a left-wing Democrat with no special claim as a healer of “what divides us as a nation” other than his racial status. (For more about how that status, and Obama’s very clever use of it, has turned Obama into an icon, please consult Shelby Steele and his book on Obama, A Bound Man). The country is, indeed, “caught up in the concept.”
Obama has understood from the beginning the opportunities that his race confers on him. Freshly minted lawyers don’t usually write their autobiography, even if they have been president of the Harvard Law Review. But as the first African-American to hold that post, Obama was in a position to publish an autobiography – one in which he talks incessantly about his race. Of course, Obama had to obtain the top law review position and then crank out a quality autobiography. But there’s a new Harvard Law Review president every year and most of them can write. Without the racial piece, no one would have been interested in Obama’s autobiography, no matter how well-executed, at that early point in his life.
Similarly, Obama could not have risen to the top of the Democratic heap this year without his strong intellect and considerable political and oratorical skills. But without the racial piece, Obama is just another smart, talented, flashy politician who over-promises. How many white politicians have ever come so far on this thin a resume? I can’t think of any.
Obama obviously is not to blame for gaining advantage due to his race. Clinton, after all, almost certainly got as far as she did because she was marred to a popular former president. Few politicians make it all the way to the top without some sort of advantage they didn’t earn. It just seems unfortunate that, in Obama’s case, there’s a stiff penalty for pointing to his unearned advantage.
Anyone see Pat Buchanan tell the black woman on Dan Abrahms to SHUT UP! How f-ing dare him?

I watched and my mouth dropped!!
Dan Abrams is a tool. His attempt at being "provacative" is lame at best. I applaud the sista for not putting up with it and for Rachel for calling Pat out. Frankly he's been getitng on my nerves all day with his "commentary" on Ferraro.
Keith Olberman was counting on your reaction. He's polishing his halo as we speak and getting pats on the back from all his elite white friends. Blacks are soooo lucky he came to their rescue.
He is a self-aggrandizing a** who is looking to make himself the story. His mock outrage is transparent and condescending.
What's eating me is that serious discussion and debate on the benefits and pitfalls of the 'double-edged sword' of Affirmative Action would do far more to advance a discussion of racial equality than the self-serving rant of a second-rate talking head.
Kiss My @SS!
Why do you have to be an "anon" to make your statements?
The only advantage that he has is that his African father earned his own doctorate from Harvard so obviously superior intelligence is in his genes.
Only someone who is not black and has never taken the time to read and understand ANY African American history/accomplishments would make the statements that you all have made. But you know what they say, "ignorance is bliss".
If someone is brilliant and has a good philosophy and a plan i.e. policy, what is the litmus test of an "appropriate" resume.
The Senator has a doctorate in constitutional law and has an understanding and appreciation for the constitution on the level of a Supreme Court judge. He has a history of over two decades of practicing law, public service and teaching the constitution. To me those are pretty important qualification to have in a time where the constitution is being ignored daily.
If you cannot get sh*t done, what good would a 40 year resume do for anyone?
What IS important is whether or not the person in charge can get people to work with them on getting important legislations through the house and the senate. And just which candidate is more capable of making that happen?
I canvassed, phone banked, and donated to the limit of my means for Obama in California.
I have one question to ask you: Would Dr. King want a blacklist? Would he approve the public listing and ostracization of every person, black, white, asian and latino, on that list?
I share your outrage. But this step you are taking is the one that takes a movement for hope and for good and cleanly removes its soul. I have no right to silence you and absolutely no power to stop you. I am asking you please not to take it in this direction.
by the last couple minutes, KO sounds like a friend who's desperately trying to intervene with a heroin addict before they OD. he's giving Clinton every benefit of the doubt that she personally is not responsible for the ugliness................ but he's still damning her campaign.
And he's doing it even knowing that he may be made to pay for saying it. He seems to be expecting something to come down on him for saying what he's saying, but he's going to say it anyway.
You gotta watch it. He really makes the case that Hillary is f*cking up and that it's unnerving how her campaign is handling .. well, EVERYTHING.
Me personally, I strongly believe Hillary Clinton has a mental issue. It's a mental issue shared by the women of her campaign (see Geraldine Ferraro's 'you go sister they're trying to hurt you through me' comment!)
Hillary needs professional help.
I think it should be extended to Hillary supporters as well. That's a long *ss list you provide, though, and I don't know how many of them are actually elected and how many are appointed. How would censure work, since Hillary is not only not doing it, but is encouraging the madness done in her name against Obama and against the Democratic Party and against the American people throught this bs?
-----------------------------------
Exactly! Remember how she acted in RI with all the drama! The woman has some serious issues! And do people really want someone with mental issues answering the Red Phone? Not no--- but hell Naw!
Maybe it's time for new blood after all. Those associated with Hillary's campaign are not the only fish in the sea. I'm sure there are other Democrats who would help lead the country and help unite the country if they were only given a chance to step up.
What Hillary's campaign is doing is going beyond 'business, never personal'. This is not just politics, anymore (if it ever was, for them -- see, again Geraldine's quote about 'they're trying to hurt you through me'). The real cult is in the Hillary campaign. Outreach is possible, but pretending everything is okie doke and never happened ain't the way.

Props to you, Nita!
I love this blog!
All true. But blacklisting underlings is a couple of steps beyond calling it out. You don't know who on that list made these decisions. My guess is, nor do most of the people on that list.
The campaign they have participated in should (and will) fail on its own demerits. Obama has taken the high road, and the rewards of that path should be undiluted by stuff like blacklisting. The contrast between him and Clinton is now screamingly stark.
And I LOOOOOVE this blog!
The 'WE WILL NOT BE CHEATED' Campaign !
Out of desperation, the Clinton campaign is now stooping to extreme lows by having surrogate Geraldine Ferraro in the media making racist statements against Barack Obama. Also, it is a fact that even if Hillary wins Pennsylvania there is absolutely no way she can get enough delegate votes to defeat Obama. And her BIG ploy now is to have a 're-do' in Michigan and Florida, despite the fact that this would be a changing of the rules in the middle of the game which should not be allowed. Her tactics will end up extremely detrimental to the Democratic Party. It is time to let the DNC know that if Hillary wins through ANY methods deemed trickery (which is the only way she can win) WE....THE PEOPLE WILL NOT SUPPORT HER IN THE GENERAL ELECTION ! National radio talk show host Warren Ballentine is asking EVERYONE to call the DNC at 202-863-8000 to let them know 'We Will Not Support A Cheater !'We need 50 thousand people to FLOOD THE PHONES !!! So Call Today !!!! Say It Loud....WE WILL NOT SUPPORT A CHEATER !!! Tell everyone you know to make this call. The Time Is NOW....To Take Back OUR America !!!!
