Jack and Jill Politics: GIVE CLINTON THE DELEGATES FROM FLORIDA? SH—-EET

  • Craig Hickman · 1 year ago
CPL, it takes away Clinton's idea that she can take this all the way to a floor battle at the convention.

    It's smart.

She can't win even with the delegates from FL and Michigan.

You are right Craig. Chuck Todd did the math.

dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, did I say dumb? It's a dumb idea to openly state your BATNA before negotiations. Go back to school on that one Mr. Poulffe. Thankfully, Clinton will probably be out of money by 5-31 and money is what greases the backroom skids. (Not in the bribery sense; in the sense of the potential to raise money for office holders and future candidates for office).

    CPL,

But, the devil's in the details, my friend. Floating that out there, makes those fake ass protests, like she arranged this week, look even more assinine.

    CPL,

I'm feeling you. If it was left to me....girl, I have all sorts of revenge fantasies ready for this group.

And, if we were being honest, we'd know, if the situations were reversed, people would be telling FL and MI to go #*$& themselves...such is life..LOL

I do believe the Obama campaign is giving her the rope with which to hang herself finally.

    FINALLY.

It's taken awhile to get the rope in her hands, but I believe it's FINALLY THERE.

At the very least, it will STFU her flunkies who have been trying this lame ass argument. If this is on record, then that takes that away from them.

I think Chelsea will be the one to say, "Mom, it's over. Stop campaigning at let the rest of the elections just happen."

If Mrs. Nixon has a soul, she will listen to her daughter.

I agree, if he negotiates there is nothing else for her to charge on with.

There will be no other talking points for the Clinton campaign and it says he is the more grown up of the two.

It also stops the march to the convention.
  • heartsandflowers · 1 year ago
as Maya said on Girlfriends, "Ah Hell No!"

DO NOT GIVE HER ONE INCH! Because if the situation was reversed we would not even be having this conversation and Obama would have been forced out 2 months ago. There's only so much room for 'reconciliation' here. Clinton's wins in NH, NM and IN are questionable at best since we're talking about 2% or less.
  • Chris · 1 year ago
Seating MI and FL is great political jiu jitsu and I hope Obama does exactly that.

I could care less about what it means or doesn't mean to Hillary. She loses regardless. And I agree with Obama that running a campaign that merely reacts to her, rather than acts for all of us, diminishes him and us together.

What this move does do is add instant clarity to both the political math and the muddled perception that Clinton has any chance -- she doesn't and that would be obvious if her best-case scenario came true and she was still 100+ delegates behind.

More importantly it will give the SDs all the reason in the world to get off the sidelines and cast a damn vote.
  • Anonymous · 1 year ago
What he needs to do is "allow" her delegates to be seated - but keep ALL OF THE SUPERS from casting votes - use the argument, the voters weren't to blame for this train wreck - the elected officials are, therefore, the supers will have NO SAY in the decision process - what that does is
    1) takes the "depriving voters of having a chance to vote" off the table; and

    2) can't hurt, nor change the outcome....

All super delegates are wild cards - remove that part of the equation, and it is simple math --the election is over, even WITH Florida and Michigan counting.. FINALLY!
  • Val · 1 year ago
Not only were they discussing giving her the lion's share of the Fl and MI delegates but the media was also pedaling the idea that Obama needs to not only buy her out by paying off her debt AND that she "earned" the right to be asked to be his Vice President. They had the gall to say two months ago she offered him the VP spot. Totally ignoring the fact that he was the front runner.

Umm, for the record, the guy on the Wire who always said "sheeiiit" was State Sen. Clay Davis, not a police officer. Might want to correct that before you lose your Wire base.

And yea, Obama would be crazy to give the Clintons an inch. Somebody needs to remind his campaign about what happened to the frog who gave the scorpion a ride on his back.
  • evita · 1 year ago
I don't want HRC to have anything that isn't due to her which right about now is a swift kick in that behind... However, if those two states aren't seated or their delegates "counted," too many nay sayers will say he didn't truly win the primary "fairly." I know it was fair because their state Democrats knew the rules before they moved up their primaries, but the only one who will suffer is the Obama campaign.

Give it to her, take the high road (per usual,) and tell her to kiss ur beige ass when u win anyway.
  • Lolo · 1 year ago
I say give them to her BUT with the proviso that she locks herself into whatever conditions he needs to hold her to the line. Do not trust her for even a sec.

And, NO PUTTING HER ON THE DAMNED TICKET.

The comment from Plouffe isn't in the article anymore. I wonder if he was misquoted and complained.
  • Christopher Chambers · 1 year ago
He wasn't a cop in the Wire. He was a protypical corrpt black local politician named "Clay Davis." He played a cop in Spike's "25th Hour" where he minted the line.Get it right! hahaha

And, NO PUTTING HER ON THE DAMNED TICKET.

I was watching MSNBC last night and apparently that's the new meme that the pundits are trying to push. I'm assuming BO has way more sense than to do that, but I still hope his people will remind him it would be a huge mistake to put Vampira on the ticket.

Love all the Clay Davis references. He was brilliant in spite of being such a smarmy bastard.

I guess I'm torn on this issue.

On the one hand, Barack calls her bluff and "offers" her a portion of the FL and MI delegates. He appears to be the bigger man; the better man. And by doing so, he offers evidence that she has no legitimate chance at catching him in delegates.

On the other hand, she would spin Barack's offer as a victory for her. She'd spin it as Barack yielding to the pressure of the voters to do what's right. And, worse, she'd use it as one more argument for the superdelegates: had those states been counted as they should have, the momentum and tone of the campaign would have been different.

    I don't know ...
  • The Christian Progressive Libe · 1 year ago
Thank you everyone, for a warm welcome and for correcting me on Clay Davis.

HBO runs commercial clips with him saying "sheeeit", and that's what triggered it. LOL

But all of you make good points, and although I'm not warm on Obama, the thought of the Borg Queen being hoisted on her own petard gives me goose pimples in a good way. She deserves nothing for Staying with Wild Bill, especially not the Presidency.

And whomever is suggesting she "deserves" a place on Obama's ticket should probably ask Michelle about that. I agree with Chris Rock - now you're going to insult the brotha by telling him to put her on the ticket, when he's already beaten her decisively.

Only the white Media would continue to insult African-Americans in this manner. When in the hell will we ever catch a break?

I think that quote got lifted when Obama actually saw how his Campaign manager was shooting off at the mouth, and as some have said, giving away his strategy before he could unload it on her before Denver.

Even worse than the Hillary joint ticket idea, was the one where they thought Al Gore would step in and be the nominee.

So the Dark Sith has decided to come out from under his rock and give advice as to who Obama should have on his ticket, when we all know that the Dark Sith hates Obama and would do anything to undermine him, period.

He still blames Obama for not helping him win that Senate seat in Tennessee, even though Obama campaigned for his ungrateful arse.

And he only left Fox because he knows he won't have an entree into the inner circle that knowing Obama will provide.

Harold Ford is an idiot to even think Clinton after all the ugliness she has show on the Stump.

Obama/Webb much more appealing. If he tools up with her or Rendell, Forget it. I will vote republican.
