Jack and Jill Politics: Help Track Clinton’s Attacks on Obama

  • nedsdag · 1 year ago
    It's getting worse.

Now she has BET founder and Clinton supporter Bob Johnson going after Obama now.

Methinks many African Americans will be sitting out the general election if she and her minions keep this up.

I think a timeline with exact, full quotes, the date and link (to a legit source like the NY Times or AP) would be helpful. For instance, Bill Shaheen's quote (with date/link and/or video or audio link)) and date. Then the date of his denial/resignation, etc. Also, the response at the time from the Obama campaign.

The Clinton's have been blowing this dog whistle loud and clear all month - obviously an attempt to force Obama's hand to "play the race card".

Then Donna Brazile and James Clyburn ring the alarm and the MSM comes sniffing around, the Obama campaign finally issues a response - to South Carolina voters, not the press.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/01/12/obama-camps-memo-on-clin_n_81205.html

Those of us who have been paying attention all along KNOW that the original alarm bells were sounded in the Black blogosphere and on Black radio. Then Brazile and Clyburn spoke up, the MSM got wind of it and Obama's camp finally touches on it.

No matter what he does, Obama will be accused of "playing the race card" if he or his campaign answers any of these, but I say so be it.

I think the first instance that I am aware of was the "naive and irresponsible" one. That flew under the radar for many (especially younger Black folks), and was given a LOT of benefit of the doubt by ones who did feel they heard at least the echo of a whistle.

There was a conversation about this at the time, at the mydd cesspit, which went as those sorts of things usually go.

Found this on "Think on these things". A pro-Obama site, but they give the MLK timeline and note that there was NO statement at the time of the MLK mess from Barack Obama's campaign.

Hillary Clinton has blamed Barack Obama for instigating the MLK controversy.

    (h/t Prometheus 6)

This is not true. The story aired on January 7, 2008. The Politico reported on the story that day before it aired. The comments section of that post was full of people who were offended by the comments. That evening Clinton was already trying to clean up the mess she had made.

There was absolutely no statement from Barack Obama or the Obama campaign on the issue amidst all of that.

is this for any attacks? what about legitimate, non-racial ones?

(if you're riding hard for Obama like y'all are, anything could meet the criteria for'wack'.)

Great idea! I tried to leave the details re: Bob Johnson's latest insults but I could not get the cut and paste feature to work.

    Please advise!

    Hillary's third term?

Her campaign is down right outrageous. It's manipulative, wrong and disgusting. I will be chairing my local Democrats for McCain committee if she gets the nomination. Say what you want about his views, he wouldn't use these kind of tactics to win.

    Also of note: versus McCain:

    McCain 49

    Clinton 37

(18% of Democrats backing McCain; 7% undecided)

    McCain 46

    Obama 43

Tell me again, who is more electable? If the Democratic Party wants to find a way to yet again snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, it'll nominate Clinton.

Creating a story and then blaming your opponent for it is what Bush does. That is a disqualification for the office of President.

The good news, she has so irritated unions in Nevada, where they make up 50% of the caucus, that she may lose a state she had a twenty point lead in a month ago.

Clinton knows she can't win. An honorable politician would've run to the end, realizing that they couldn't do anything about it. The dishonorable Clintons decided that they were bigger than the party--of course we knew this when DOMA, welfare reform, NAFTA, the Iraq War, etc, happened--and so they decided to take the rest of the party down with them.

Bill is obsessed with his legacy. He's a fool to not see that any good legacy that he may have despite impeachment is tied up in a President Obama. Instead, he'll be remembered as a narcissistic fool that ruined his own party and cemented divisions through misguided attacks unbecoming of a former President in support of his wife's campaign. His choice. I'll say it now, there have been 43 Presidents. Clinton was the should be ranked 41st, Bush should be ranked 42nd, and Buchanan should be ranked 43rd. However, there's still a chance to go down as the worst in history if this BS keeps up.

Knock it off now. And you want to know what the Republicans are going if it's Clinton/Bayh: put JC Watts on the ticket, and proceed to realign the country in their favor. Good for them.

I cannot believe the AUDACITY of Bob Johnson to criticize Sen. Obama and parrot Sen. Clinton's whining that Obama's camp is the one who pointed out the suspect comments of Sen. Clinton. I learned about it on a blog - not connected to the campaign to my knowledge. I LISTENED TO THE COMMENTS FOR MYSELF - and imagine this - drew my own conclusion. In fact, until Sen. Clinton begin to spin this story - I never read or heard any comment from Sen. Obama or his camp.

What exactly has Johnson done to uplift the black community? Sure he created a few millionaires along the way to his billion dollar payday. The damage he wrought with the hateful music that was included along with other good hip hop music - did as much to interfere with the progress of black youth that any republican college tuition cutback ever did. And to even hint at Obama's drug use, a mistake he acknowledged versus insulting our intelligence as a previous political rockstar has, is pretty darn bold coming from Johnson. Maybe we should ask Obama what he was "listening" to and "watching" while he was doing whatever he was doing in the neighborhoods.

I never respected Johnson before, and think far less of him now. Does he care how I feel - no - he has never shown a flip about what the black community felt - just what we were willing to buy from him and his cronies.

    thanks for the updates yall.

@carmen. email me direct (baratunde at baratunde dot com) or find me on IM so we can sort out your problems. Feel free to use one of the empty templates I left open <a href="mailto:though.

    @g.d">though.

    @g.d.

while I support Obama, this site does not officially do so. two of us are strongly for. one leans strongly and one is undecided.

I really wanted the tracker to grab what people think is illegitimate and especially what they think is racially motivated in some way.

If Hillary says Obama's health care plan isn't as good as hers, I don't consider that an "attack"

If Bill refers to Obama as a "kid" that is an attack.

Clearly what Bob Johnson did today qualifies.

Obama's camp sent out this memo of Obama's accomplishments in the senate and The Page posted it.
    Here is the link.

Part of HRCs vicious and racist comments include Obama being 'lazy' and all talk.

So, this is handy info to have.

Sagereader at Think on These Things has a complete list of Obama's record in the Illinois senate as well.

    http://thepage.time.com/obama-camp-memo-on-obamas-senate-record-responding-to-clinton-on-mtp/

    I will say this.

I am white and am appalled by the Clintons and their surrogates.

She is trying to divide white vs Black and more.

This woman needs to be stopped and she needs to not get the nomination.

I will never vote for her.

Barack Obama is my senator and I am a big supporter of his. He does not deserve his reputation being swiftboated like this and especially from a fellow democrat.

I never trusted the Clintons and I cannot see how people are excusing this behavior by them.

When Hillary says Obama's health plan leaves people out that is an attack, for everyone could opt in. However, Obama doesn't favor a mandate--which is a big check to big insurance, as Hillary does. So she misrepresents the truth and says that Obama is in the pocket of big insurance, when the truth is absolutely the other way. Hillary: favorite daughter of big insurance executives...

I am a white guy in Iowa who caucused for Obama and supported his campaign from day one.

I have to admit: up until January 3 I like and respect all of the Democratic candidates, including Clinton. But, once she (and Bill) lost in Iowa we were all reminded of the real Clintons: win at all costs and the truth, and decency, be damned.

If Hillary is the Democratic nominee, I'll take at look at McCain if the Republicans pick him. I'll take an even closer look at Bloomberg if he hops in the race. But, I am definitely ABC: Anybody But Clinton.

I had to laugh after reading Bob Johnson's defense of the Clintons.

I don't watch BET, and I wish there was a way I could get that garbage network off my satellite service. BET was a once promising idea that has been run into the gutter by people looking to make a fast dollar at any cost.

Joe Madison had a great segment on the race card on his radio show on Friday. He essential said anytime a black person address racial issues they are "playing the race card". He says is "playing the cards your are dealt." Obama is walking the Colin Powell tightrope.
I'd vote for Clinton before I voted for any Republiklan.

    PLEASE SIGN PETITION ask-marian-wright-edleman-to-support-barack-obama

    LINK BELOW:

    http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/ask-marian-wright-edleman-to-support-barack-obama

    Petition short version:

We the under signed ask Marian Wright Edleman to show

her support for Barack Obama for president 2008. We

also would appreciate Marian explaining why her

husband resigned from Bill clintons cabinet and why on

July 24th when Marian Spoke to Amy Goodman at

    democracynow.org
she didn't eleborate further in her

views of Hillary Clinton who proclaims to be the

    candidate for childrens right.

The following are a few articles explaining in some

detail as to the clintons dealings with regards to

Marian Wright Edleman. (note: these articles can be

found at the petition site by clicking petition

    overview under Marians picture)

    PLEASE FORWARD WIDELY ASAP

    Danielle Clarke

""Hillary Co-Ops Marians organization as if Marian is

    endorsing her""

NOTE: The link to Hillary's site is below.

    http://hillaryclinton.com/issues/family/

Go to hillaryclinton.com. Click 'HILLARY" tab at top

of page and select "Hillary's Story". Then on the

right of the page under "HILLARY ON THE ISSUES" click

"Supporting Parents and Caring for Children". In the

second paragraph read..."From her first job out of law

school at the Children's Defense Fund..."

Hillary is effectively associating herself with the

CDF without seeking actually saying she is and without

saying why Marian the individual citizen, her mentor

at CDF is not supporting her for the nomination. This

mention of the CDF by Hillary in this fashion does not

give the correct impression. Namely, that neither

Marian nor her husband, who resigned the Clinton

Administration in PROTEST, are at odds with the

Clinton's in a most serious way. What is the nature

of that disagreement when the Clinton's are giving the

impression that all is well with her relationship with

the CDF. This is SO a typically Clinton (not quite

honest) maneuver. Marian has a Christian and

Citizenship duty to correct that false impression. To

share the truth with the Democrats and the American

people BEFORE they nominate another Clinton to the

important job of President of the United States at

this critical point in our Nation's history.

You see Bill Clinton's list of attacks from the Obama camp? What a clown.
    1) Hillary should be fighting her own battles, not hiding behind her husband

    2) There's a huge different between attacking someone's political agenda (policies and plans) and race-baiting.
