Well done!
As a black woman who grew up in the Chicagoland area (well, NW Indiana actually), lived in Chicago for nearly a decade, and was a active member of Trinity United Church of Christ, I say BRAVO!
I've really had enough of the recent glut of white talking heads analyzing black people and black culture, based on little or no knowledge.
As pissed as I get when I read such racist venom from Hitchens, Pat Buchanan, and Cohen of WaPo, it pales in comparison to the anger I feel at so-called race men who invest more time in tearing down Obama because he's not sufficiently committed to Black folks--in their estimation--but say nothing about these type of columns that would make George Wallace say, "damn!"
Pat Buchanan's column was the most overtly racist piece of opinion "journalism" that has been pubished since opposition to the end of segregation, and the Black political and social pulpits have been completely silent!
He was back on the air yesterday goofing it up with Joe Scarborough then Dan Abrams later in the day.
It's astounding!

Are these assocition simply 'boneheaded' mistakes? Does he really share in part, or on the whole their ideology? Is he really a new type of politican or is he trying to bamboozle white voters?
These connections, if isolated incidents, could perhaps be brushed aside. But Obama will be hammered for a pattern of maintaining Radical associations.
I see you've been feeding at the Fox News trough. Why do you ask if he's trying to bamboozle white voters rather than just all voters?
I have news for you, America IS radical:
Preachers who rail against homosexuals and abortion and great whores of Babylon. Polygamist cults. Mormonism. Fox News. Republican ideology, tax cuts for all. Vilifying of Universal Health care. Struggles over whether to elect a woman or black man while the rest of the world has moved on..long ago. Rejection of science and evolution.
It is impossible to exist in America without crossing paths with nutjobs. It is whether you believe you own mythology instead of the reality.
If only Hitchen's would put on some Blackface and ride his bike through Bridgeport. Then he'd see.
Slavery and Colonialism were very radical.
Hitchens doesn't need to go blackface to understand. He knows - it's a conversation that's had freely in unmixed company.
That's what kills me about people who claim that racism doesn't exist, they know better than blacks that it does!
Like it or not, white moderates and independents will decide this election.
What will be the defense of Obama's judgment regarding his radical and or corrupt personal, religious and political associations?
How does shooting the messenger help Obama?

while white America ponders the danger of so-called black radicals...China is quietly pwning your asses. If black radicals had the desire to harm white America, you would have been toast long ago. Yes, Barack will face those silly questions when they present themselves...but really, what a waste and a distraction!

It never occurred to me that those white fans had the audacity to go to the South Side to commit crimes against the black residents living near the ballpark. It's as though the whites used baseball games as an excuse to exercise their brutal racist urges. Horrible.
They are hardly ' radical'. That's my point. They have to don the 'outsider' role to be effective. They are very mainstream in Chicago. Don't you get the theme yet: Meeks runs probably the LARGEST church...Wright runs a MEGACHURCH....Pfleger runs the LARGEST Black Catholic Church not only in the city, but one of the largest in the COUNTRY....How are these folks ' radical'. By the very nature of their success - they are mainstream.
They get things done.
There's a reason Bridgeport is still 1% black after all these years and no matter how rich white people like Hitchen's want to wish away the problems which create the need for people like Meeks, Wright, & Pfleger their wishes aren't coming true any time soon.

Remember that sweet little Black boy who got his brains bashed in with the baseball bat, what, only FIVE years ago...and the only crime he did was that he was Black in Bridgeport.
Do you really think anyone is going to read that with an open mind?
Where were all the white pastors who did not speak out against the Iraq war? Who did not speak out against Abu Ghraib?
I realize that some white pastors did speak out against these evils, but many conservative evangelical pastors said nothing. They should have been shouting from the top of their lungs.
These pastors have more to answer for than Rev Wright ever will.

The bible supports war. In addition to being about oil, the Iraqi occupation is also about religion. It was an easy target in the sense that it's army was virtually non-existent and it's Muslim population cowed by a dictator and economic sanctions. What better Muslim country to occupy than Iraq?
Evangelicals support the war based on Judeo-Christian, anti-Muslim beliefs. They are trying to bring about so-called end time events.

There's always more to the story than what you've suggested here.
The boy's name was Lenard Clark. He made the mistake of riding his bike near Comiskey Park. He was 13 years old when it happened. Two of the white boys who beat Clark were not sentenced to prison.
Frank Caruso Jr. was sentenced to eight years. His family has ties to The Outift, what people in the rest of the country call the mafia. The judge who sentenced Caruso had a contract put out on his life by the Outfit.
Chicago is still a VERY segregated city. And Bridgeport is still a provincial, insulated neighborhood.
