Jack and Jill Politics: Is Hillary Clinton trying to ‘Willie Horton’ Barack Obama?

  • The Christian Progressive Libe · 2 years ago
Rikyrah, the Borg Queen is throwing roundhouse punches at Obama, because she knows she can't overcome having an Oprah endorsement, no matter how many House Negroes in the CBC endorse her.

You know Charlie Rangel is probably looking with longing at the Obama campaign, and now he has no choice but to suck it up, because he's been carrying the Clinton's water for the last ten years.

He should have never encouraged her to run for D'Amato's seat - that's how she got to New York in the Senate - Rangel orchestrated and encouraged the move. If she gets the White House, Rangel might have a Cabinet position waiting for him as a "Thank You" for all that water he carried.

He'd better ask Lani Guinier and Joycelyn Elders how that worked out for them...

Absolutely. As soon as the Madrassa BS came out, it was obvious that this was all a character attack by the Clintons. Then the kindergarten thing. Then drug dealer smear. Then the fake apology. Then Senator Clinton herself saying, "I've been investigated for 20 years, there's nothing they can throw at me." It's all a below the belt pitch to play on America's fears, specifically unwarranted racial fears. One of the most shameful in American history. I expected better of the Clintons. Thankfully, the country may have tired of this garbage, which means that the only character the Clintons attacked was their own...

Mr. Obama should focus on the issues that are important to America (Iraq and bringing the troops home), mortgages, healthcare, education, honesty in government.

Leave the Clintons in New York and let them rot. Americans have had enough of them.
  • dnA · 2 years ago
The Madrassa thing was not a Clinton idea. It was spread by a right wing magazine that claimed it was a Clinton idea so that they could smear her and Obama at the same time.

That said tho, she's looking really bad and desperate.

The Clintons have always been to the Right of Scalia with regards to crime. They GREW the prison industrial complex in this country. This is one of the reasons I've never understood their appeal among black folks, if that decision had been handed down during the Clinton years, they would have opposed it as fervently as Bush did.

With all due respect to dnA, merde. I'm a Republican political activist. Insight on the News is a Moonie rag, yes, but that's exactly why the Clintons picked it to leak the Madrassa story. That story came right out of Hillary's oppo shop. Insight got the story from a mid-level Clinton person; it was planted deliberately, and to this day, the mag stands by its story. We've known this ever since the story came out. This is standard Clinton procedure: throw the mud and blame it on the "Right Wing Smear Machine".

We never cease to be amazed as black leaders rationalize for the Clintons after they've been kicked in the balls by that same husband and wife team time and again. DnA's point that the Clinton's grew the prison industry in the U.S. is telling in this respect: once you were used, there was no need for you anymore. It was only necessary to prove to white working class voters, many of them Democrats, that Bill Clinton could be "tough on crime".

By the way, it must suck to be John Lewis right about now.

Of course, there was bound to be a time when all that Karmic energy came back to bite the Clintons in the ass, and I suppose it was Barack's fate to be the agent of Karmic Justice.

That said, Obama has done something extraordinary, and as a Republican, I must tip my hat to the man. He is on his way to beating the Clinton machine in the Democratic Party at its own game. This simply wasn't supposed to happen, and now it's on the verge of happening.

Hillary was running as if her opponent was George Allen. Instead, she got pwned. Your guy can win. Foolish is the Republican who underestimates this man. If he beats Hillary, he'll have taken down the Clintons. Not even the Bush Family has been able to do that.

Do you folks realize the scale of that achievement?

A towering accomplishment for any politician!

Well, it's about the hypocrisy, stupid: You don't get to wring your hands about 'Republican dirty tricks' out of one side of your mouth, while take a leaf out of the Rove play book with the other.

If the Clinton campaign wants to play the drug card against Obama, then Hilary should stop hiding behind the 'plausible deniability' of using proxies (who resign when the backlash starts) talking in not very subtle code and do her own dirty work.

And please... if you're got to justify yourself by saying 'better us than the far-right smear machine I claim to loathe and despise' then you've already lost.

So you knew it was "planted deliberately" but you printed it anyway? Doesn't that make you just as bad?

Apparently she doesn't have to. She can just let you do it for her.

As a non-American outside observer, I'd like to see candidates focus more on actual issues -- such as foreign policy.

Where do they stand? What would they do with all the stationed overseas troops? Will they engage with other nations through dialogue or threats? These things matter not just to America, but to the world.

You have the eyes of the world on you. Please don't let the world down.

Great post! Great questions! You know the answers. Hillary Clinton is in trouble. Barack Obama showed character by discussing drug use in a candid and honest way, unlike Hillary's husband, who did not inhale. just because of Hillary's lack of character, any hope she had of getting my vote is pretty much gone. I think for many black voters will feel the same way.

I, too, have been asking myself if the "drug dealer" question raised would not have greater force against Barack Obama than against another candidate? Would it have greater force if against Obama if it was asked whether he had ever been a pimp? Of course it would, because it plays into well-worn stereotypes.

And yet the stereoytpes that have kept Black men and women from succeeding in politics don't seem to have succeeded against Barack Obama thus far. Maybe voters will just ignore questions about what Barack Obama did 20 years ago? Or maybe they will identify with him more strongly?

Effectively, George W. Bush admitted that he used illegal drugs when he refused to answer the question whether he did or not, back in 2000.

The reasons I believe that Clinton is more likely to win the nomination AND the presidency is that:

    a) Clinton is more able at undercutting opponents strategically, and

    b) Clinton has more experience at fending off attacks against her.

Although some people say they will never vote for Clinton, I know one case in which they surely would: If Barack Obama were her vice presidential running mate.

With regard to the house negroes, I encourage everyone to keep a close eye on the master's house between Jan 8th and Feb 5th.

Long before Mistress Hillary ever concedes this race, you're gonna see some house negroes running out into the fields, trying to catch the Obama Train.

Why Jan 8th? The results from IA and NH will be written into the history books. The SC Blow-out will be a couple of weeks away.

It's going to be fun to watch. I'll be watching/clowning from the train's dining car, sipping on some Hennessey.

I'm sure that Barack will offer kindness/amnesty to these house negroes when the nom is sealed...

Another fun little factoid... she's basically using the fact that he's honest about trying drugs, while neatly ignoring the fact that Bill didn't inhale (he just sucked).

And nobody ever asked HIM if he sold the stuff, either.

So that makes a pot-smoking draft-dodger and a coke-snorting fascist in the White House, both of whom tried to minimalize their use. Obama, on the other hand, opens up proudly to the fact that he no longer uses, and hasn't since he was a teenager.

A little reality check: Hillary did all the work while Bill was off philandering with aides? Come on... that doesn't really make sense!

Obama's the first honest politician I can actually find. And they're trying to make that honesty into a weakness. Personally, I find that to be a point in favor of Obama. Maybe he really *is* the one!
  • ronnie b. · 2 years ago
I'm rollin' with Obama for the long haul. I'm in. I'm sold.

At the same time, I know what the Clintons know. That there's still something deep inside many--many--Americans where it's plausible (as opposed to absurd) that Barack may have sold drugs or pimped out women. That it's plausible he's still a "Muslim" at heart (as opposed to a Christ-loving family man).

Yes, Hillary knows this as much as any Black man or woman knows it. And she's using it for her short-term political advantage, rather than condemning it and those who espouse it. And that's why I won't vote for her. At all.

Can somebody explain why Hillary and Obama's body language are so dismissive of one another? It's like they can't stand to be within the same square footage of one another. There's something going on.

Hillary: How dare you stop my coronation?

Obama: I KNOW my place - on 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Give the handkerchief to someone else.
