Same response people say to Obama about Trinity UCC. Come on people make decisions based on their own personal situation. A lot of people back in 1980 was not keen about givng a Black man a national holiday. That was cutting edge for the day, and in some cases, it still is. I am sure his aids poll his constituency and felt that it would be best for him not to cast a vote in favor. It's very simplistic and easy to understand. I am might not agree with the logic, but I understand it. And, I am able to understand this being that I am as progressive as they come, and probably will vote for the green party this year.

Why would Jesse Jackson throw himself on the pyre for Barack Obama? I don't see it. I don't see JJ taking one for the team unless something's in it for him, and I don't see anything it it for him.

Black people must smile and grin at every opportunity. If they don't, they hate white people (Michelle) or they have thin skin (Barack). Actually I don't know how they can fix their lips and fingertips to say that Barack Obama has "thin skin" because anyone else would have gone postal after having the kitchen sink...no, the bathroom toilet thrown at them for 6 months.

Maybe they thought Jeremiah Wright and Louis Farrakhan would materialize on the stage next to John McCain screaming THE CHICKENS............HAVE COME HOME........................................TO ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOST.......while the NAACP audience mean mugged and cheered them on? Campbell Brown and Cindy Crowley are kinda ridiculous.

I disagree. If McCain is going to speak to collectives of Hispanics/Latinos, he should do the same for the NAACP.

He was treated with all the regard due an elected official and statesman. Do his policies resonate with most members of the NAACP? No. But he gets respect for showing up and making his case.

Unfortunately, he spoke to very few of the priority issues of the NAACP. I think he missed a great opportunity to speak emphatically to his plans for dealing with the foreclosure crisis, health care, predatory lending, etc etc… -- Kevin Myles

McCain's inability to speak to these issues in the presence of everyday people, is precisely why so many African Americans are not Republicans.

I give him one kudo for showing up.

Wonder what Jesse Jr has to say about Jesse Sr re: this latest foolishness? Jesse has always been for Jesse. But this was just ridiculous. I mean, he was in a TV studio, and a FOX studio at that.

You would think by now that he had his shots against 'open mike syndrome' Seriously, why would he think they WEREN'T recording everything he said.

On the other hand, I've heard some talk that Jesse took one for the team with this mess. There are some folks who hate, hate, HATE JJ. So, the theory goes, if Jesse is seen as disparaging to Barack, JJSr haters will be more willing to support Barack with their votes and their money.

Things that make you go HHhhhhmmmm.

Matter of fact, his skin was way thicker than mine. In fact, it seemed to me that most of us were more peeved than Obama, if one is to go by his demeanor on LKL. He was more obviously pissed on the night he became the presumptive nominee, and Miss Anne refused to concede.

Granted, he may have ranted and raged behind the scenes, and he'd had plenty of time to regain his composure before he appeared on LKL but I happen to believe that he's truly "No Drama Obama," and that, as he says, he doesn't get too high with the highs nor to low with the lows.

They can't stand it because he is the personification of cool, calm and collected under the most excruciating pressure, ergo, he doesn't fit their stereotype of the deferential black man. They act as if he should be obsequious to them because he's done so well, as if he's accomplished what he has because they let him, rather than because he's worked so hard..

Obviously, they didn't observe his great humor during the last few debates with Miss Anne, nor have they bothered to watch his appearances on the entertainment/talk shows - which are the proper venues for showcasing his humor - and where he has shown his drollness, and well-timed humor.

During one debate, when Miss Anne was ranting about his great speeches and oratorical skills, he said, "I thought they were pretty good my self."

When he was on Jimmy Kimmel, he was very funny; he even delivered a great zinger to Tweety when he was on Hardball The College Tour.

Given what he is trying to accomplish, and given how dire our economic situation is, I don't get why they expect that he would be running around skinning and grinning, like their boy Macabre McCain is.

In the words of the fictional President Shepherd in the American President:

McCain] is not the least bit interested in solving it.

Making you afraid of it and telling you who's to blame
for it. That, ladies and gentlemen, is how
you win elections.

Sorry, I got carried away, but I love that portion of the script's dialogue, and I think it is so appropos in this campaign season.

Yup. I sure did. So not only did this Reverend reference castrating another Black male, he criticized said Black male for talking down to "niggers." Thanks Jesse.

I'm interested to hear the feedback on this for the supporters of Jesse's sentiments that Barack was "talking down" to Black people, when it has been revealed that Jesse describes said Black people as niggers.
