Jack and Jill Politics: Michelle Obama & Caroline Kennedy On CNN

  • golden star · 1 year ago
Michelle's career of opening and leading the first Public Allies office in Chicago to her University of Chicago positions has built a very broad broad base of key supporters and activists.

I luv Michelle. Do not trifle w/ her! And, just what kinda person does she demonstrate, speak, emote, and breathe?

Oh, the feeling of "to be real."
  • Jonzee · 1 year ago
I really enjoyed how she took Malveaux to task. That is what really needs to start happening.

Michelle reminds me so much of the women in my family who have become mentors to me in my moves up the professional ladder.

Such a dynamic women she is!
  • rikyrah · 1 year ago
You know I'm a true fan of Michelle. I think she rocks.
  • justice58 · 1 year ago
Michelle held it down indeed! Looks like Malveaux wanted to push the issue! Snap!

    I just love Michelle!
  • miss-opinion · 1 year ago
Why bother mentioning Caroline. Maybe I missed it but did she even ask her any questions? She's just sitting there, really a waste. But I loved the interview. Thanks
  • BPM · 1 year ago
    Caroline did answer.

After Rev. Wright showed off by insulting the Kennedys on Sunday, I imagine that Caroline at her children's request is showing that the family is still with Obama. He insulted JFK and then Teddy. WTF? It wasn't even necessary because the point could have been made without singling out the political family that has given Barack his biggest boost this election. It was like what are you trying to do. Crazy!
  • TruthSeeker · 1 year ago
    bpm,

the full depth of ugliness of what Wright did hasn't stopped hitting me. Really, he is an awful human being. He - who is educated - tells his congregation that HIV is a govt. conspiracy, knowing there is no evidence this is true. It is highly irresponsible. When he is asked about it he can only cite a single book.

You are right that he could have made his point without insulting the Kennedy's but he was seething with mean-spiritedness.
  • LexusOakland · 1 year ago
Anyone who watched that interview could not help but contrast Michelle with the other two candidate spouses... She is articulate and thoughtful, gracefull and classy. She'll be a powerful first lady, and will clearly continue to be a source of strength to her man, the president.
  • Craig Hickman · 1 year ago
Wright's mission seems to be working.

NC polls are tightening (one even has Mrs. Nixon in the lead), and Obama's unfavorable rating is trending north.

And truthseeker, I agree with you.
  • Ronnie B · 1 year ago
This is perhaps the most naive question that could be asked--yet probably the most complex question ...

why are Jeremiah Wright's actions, Barack's fault?
  • Ronnie B · 1 year ago
    Back to Michelle ...

She's the woman I want my sons to marry. She's the woman I want my daughters to emulate.

And politically speaking, I'm glad that she's politely asking the so-called mainstream media to knock it off already as concerns Rev. Wright.
  • Craig Hickman · 1 year ago
ronnie b, a complicated question with a rather simple answer:

    They're both Black.
  • BrownSugaQT86 · 1 year ago
I must say that unfortunately, some black voters are taking a second look at Obama. Obama had no choice but to repudiate Wright because he was put in a tough spot but some of what he said in doing it rubbed some the wrong way. I think in will win NC however. The news likes showing the lower polls on some days to ratal the public. I think that he is just fine if not better. He managed in my opinion to ease white fears.

Also, where was all the hype when Samantha Powers in an interview said that Obama was not planning on pulling troops out of Iraq? He was trying to get elected. I thought she was undermining him big time with that. It did get too much coverage. I believe that the interview was overseas. She did leave the campaign

Also, Truthseeker, there is more than one book regarding it. There were studies coming out of universities. I am not lending any credence to it but I thought I should just point that out.

Also, clinics were being careless (who knows if they were doing it on purpose)back in the 90s when they were infecting some in the disease at a time when they should have known better. This happened in poor black neighborhoods. I remember hearing about it then but I cannot find anyhting on it now which is interesting. I will say that the government did not act as soon as they could have and have allowed it to become a epidemic. They dont pay attention to it because of who it primarily affects.
  • TruthSeeker · 1 year ago
    BrownSugaQT86,

You are lending credence to it! The 80's & 90's were a crapshoot where HIV was concerned. Blood organizations were caught off guard and some were criminally negligent. The poor and minorites are just more vulnerable to these things. However, many whites were infected too in the early days. There is no evidence that the govt. engineered HIV!!!!!!!!

This pastor was wasting time scaring his congregation with foolishness. It would have been better for him to inform them that Bill Clinton - who they revered - was partially responsible for the infection of tens of thousands with HIV & Hep-C through the prison blood program in Arkansas!!!!! There is solid evidence for that!!!! He should have told them about the Clinton failure in Rwanda! Maybe if he had talked about that, blacks wouldn't now consider voting for that bitch!

That is the cost of ignorance. It distracts us from the real dangers. I wish people would stop talking about these crazy theories and talk about the real conspiracies!
  • Kenya W · 1 year ago
    Truthseeker
You said "It would have been better for him to inform them that Bill Clinton - who they revered - was partially responsible for the infection of tens of thousands with HIV & Hep-C through the prison blood program in Arkansas!!!!! There is solid evidence for that!!!!"

As president was Bill Clinton not the "goverment"?

    Think about it.

Dr. Wright may be trippin right now, but if YOU knew that fact, I promise you that he has the same info. But lets move on. Engineer, turn a blind eye, instigate whatever.

Love all of your comments though.
  • Kenya W · 1 year ago
More importantly, I heart Michelle Obama. She inspires me tremendously. I will get out in the streets and march if they keep f'ing with her and her family.
I am like you truthseeker, the more that I think about the Wright weekend the angrier I get. Even though he was supposedly defending his own name, he did not have ONE positive thing to say about SBO. Over the past 2 months, each time SBO was asked about Dr. Wright, he has gone out of his way to give a fair and complimentary view of his pastor.

What I am learning from the road show, is that Dr. Wright did care that some parts of the PA speech were good/great, he only cared that SBO had the audacity (pun intended) to criticize ANYTHING that he has said in any sermon. Prayer is needed.
  • g.d. · 1 year ago
"What I am learning from the road show, is that Dr. Wright did care that some parts of the PA speech were good/great, he only cared that SBO had the audacity (pun intended) to criticize ANYTHING that he has said in any sermon. Prayer is needed."

Yea Obama appropriates Wright's message and gets applause. This is also proof that Obama appropriated some of Farrakhan's stuff too interesting.

Some of you speaking have never been in the presence to hear Wright speak. You just talk, talk, talk...typical. Throw every black person under the bus you can find who actually thinks about the black community for one politican, yes politican who may play you once in office. Smart...the usual. Nobody could tell anyone about the Clintons in 1996 the same way that nobody could tell anybody anything about Obama in 2008.

I would love for someone to take your words and mince it up to make you sound like acrazed loon in front of billions of people. You wont know how it feels unless it is done to you.

Truthseeker, its obvious that you are interested in no truth.
  • TruthSeeker · 1 year ago
    @ kenya,

engineering a virus is a far cry from negligent infection. If Wright knew the truth he should have told it. This is how people gain control of groups..by vilifying the "other"(govt).

Wright knows Obama is not like other politicians, he said so, calling Obama 'honest' in a letter to NYT. I think this is why Obama was so hurt, because he knows Wright is smearing him on purpose.
  • TruthSeeker · 1 year ago
    @ g.d.

nobody gives a damn about Wright's words being minced, not anymore! People were starting to come around to his side after seeing his full sermons, they were blaming the media for vilifying Wright. He must have seen the shift. He still chose to do this, so it wasn't really about defending himself.

Wright is a man of the world, he understands what the media can do. Does he think that an interview is like his sermon where he gets to choose exactly what is broadcast? If he wants complete control, he shouldn't talk to reporters!

America needs Barack Obama! If Wright's actions cost Barack the Presidency, no one will EVER forgive him for that.
  • Craig Hickman · 1 year ago
WRight claims to speak truth to power. But other than saying that HIllary ain't never been called a n***r, which, given the timing, was a stupid thing to say, I don't recall him ever speaking truth to power when Clinton was president. I don't recall him ever saying that under Bill Clinton's presidence, more Black men were imprisoned than at any point in the previous four decades. Not to mention what truthseeker wrote.

But he had no problem going to the White House to pray with Clinton after a man with the morals of an alley cat got caught making a mockery out of the Oval Office.

    People are complex.

    Wright is no exception.

And I believe that a part of the backlash against him (notice that Northwestern rescinded his honorary doctorate invitation just today) has everything to do with HIS lack of judgment and his intrusion into a presidential primary far beyond defending himself.

    God don't like ugly.
  • g.d. · 1 year ago
    Craig and Truthseeker, Please.

Neither one of you knows him. Stop!

Obama is not being honest when it comes to certain things and if he's that dumb not to see that what he is saying is not the truth then he isnt qualified to run even a book store.

He is a politican. Please stop saying otherwise.

You are only holding on to the AIDS thing. Do you know about everything he said in his years and years of ministry or all that he has done no. So please stop!

He is done a lot for the community so for you to ignorantly sit here and act like he is all talk is unfair.

I did not agree with his timing. In addition, you cannot speak about certain truths in this country esp. not for the short sighted and ignorant white corporate media. He overlooked that. They would only continue to take him out of context and misunderstand him. However to vilify him in the manner that you are makes no sense. I have been through the archives of this blog and the amount of people vilified over Obama is just irrational. He is fine. His candidacy is fine.

P.S. Wright said that Hillary has never been called a nigger because she hasn't yet how many black folks were duped into thinking that the Clintons were black. That is what he was talking about.
  • g.d. · 1 year ago
    Craig,

He has been dis-invited to countless events since the whole issue blew up. In one of his appearances, the event got kicked out of their original location because of it. Its not know happening, its been happening since this thing got blown out of proportion but who cares the man is a clown who has never done anything in his years.

He was the one who inspired Obama's message of the "audacity of hope" and the need for change and transformation of our society. However he is a horrible man...wow.
  • RhondaCoca · 1 year ago
    Wow alot going on here:

I hear everyone here however I must contest this:

"I don't recall him ever saying that under Bill Clinton's presidence, more Black men were imprisoned than at any point in the previous four decades. Not to mention what truthseeker wrote."

    You didn't here him say:

"...then they built bigger prisons, passed a three strike law then they want us to sing God Bless America..." Guess who was getting the bigger prisons in tact and passed the three strike law in the Crime Bill of 1993...Clinton. It was even in the sounbyte so he probably has repeated that several times."

    G.d.

A bookstore? Are you serious!!Do you hate Obama that much?

Anyway I thought I should just add that in keep going....
  • Craig Hickman · 1 year ago
So, G.D. are you suggesting that a person can't know something about somebody without knowing them?

Do you know Wright? How well? Obama? How well?

Obama is a politician. Wright is a preacher.

    Politicians are lying snakes, right?

Well, preachers are greasy, greedy egomaniacs.

What's the difference, really? Both need an audience to survive.

What is a preacher without a congregation? A politician without a base.

Organized religion is organized religion. Government is government.

Both are valuable, necessary, community building, humanitarian, and charitable.

    Everything government is.

Both are also broken, corrupt and full of people demonized by their own hubris.

Governments, as Wright preaches, fail. Well, so do religions.

Let's not act as though Wright is a saint and Obama is a devil. Or vice versa.

Both are flawed human beings doing the best they can to make a difference in people's lives.

But on this matter, Wright was wrong.

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.
  • Craig Hickman · 1 year ago
rhondacocca, he didn't call Clinton out by name as he has, say, Colin Powell and Condolezza Rice. He also said he was going to come after Obama if he was elected.

So only Black politicians are worthy of his criticism?

I'd like Rev. speaking truth to power call out Bill Clinton by name.

He hasn't done it. If you've got proof, I'll gladly listen.

And if he hasn't done it and he can't do it, then I wanna know why.
  • Diana · 1 year ago
Why isn't Clinton ever called out on her ongoing 15-year relationship with Doug Coe & "The Family"?

    Craig-

How do you know he has not? Have you sat down with the man everytime, he has opened his mouth. No? No?

    You also said:

"he was going to come after Obama if he was elected."

So, he is holding him accountable like he will any other politican he is saying. He has publicaly stated that he supports Obama. He said at the NAACP thing that he was behind Obama. I interpreted it as him saying that if you get elected, I will hold you accountable for the changes that need to be made to the system. I was shocked when others saw it differently.

You people are really in the whole he is working with the Clintons garbege yet you think others are crazy for conspiracies...c'mon

I dont think he is and I do not think that he has malintent. I believe that he is a good man that made emotion cloud logical thinking during the Q&A.; I recently lost my best friend of 15 years for acting out of emotion and not biting the bullet when I should have. People misinterpreted me and I lost her friendship. I see it the same way. I am not going to look at him as some evil conspirer. I actually think he got set up and did not even realize it.

Here, I told you about my friend who told me about the FBI thing. Then that other girl said it. I actually was told about a youtube video with a guy discussing it. The video is on Cointelpro. I will give you the link. What was interesting about it is that Rev.Wright as the guy states speaks about the government being corrupt and Cointelpro yet he was so easily willing to trust the undercover FBI agents who were trying to destroy his church. He was unable to see that they were possible danger to him.

I found it to be interesting because it sounded similar to this situation. He was unable to see that he walked into the lion's den with the white media. I also found that Obama's campaign and the church should have worked together to not only prevent certain appearances by Wright but also to be careful with the sermons being sold.

    Here's the link:

    http://youtube.com/watch?v=kdUCGVIVL8o

Its at the very end...I thought it was very interesting. It is what my friend was telling me.

Obama needs to be careful with these people to. The closer he gets to the nom, the more crazy they will get with the attacks. I hope that he will be more pro-active than re-active so that he would not get caught off guard.

    Diana-

I have been talking about that. Are those articles you are citing new. I hope they are and I hope that it will surface so she can get questioned.
  • Not Delusional · 1 year ago
Michelle is too abrasive for most Americans. Every White person I talk to tells me how much they like Barack, but they can't stand his wife. She see her as the stereotypical "bitchy" Black woman. She is actually a weakness to his campaign. America likes a nice barbi doll wife. They didn't like Hillary either.

I've seen her in person and she comes off much better in person, but on TV she comes off way to strong.

Whether you like her or not..Laura Bush is a very popular first lady.

You're right, he has to divorce her immediately. You are definitely not delusional.
