Congress has a cable bill (McCain backed?) based on customer choice. You only pay for the channels you want. 'Cause right now subscribers fund / support FOX News whether they watch or not.

If that bill passed, I may watch TV again.

FOX News only listens to their advertisers: that's the soft spot for all media companies.

"Baby's Mama" another on of those delightfull colloquialisms we've gifted to the world...along with "Ho" and "Hoochie".

Then there is Toni, in all her literary might, who got over-heated and anointed the cellulitic, sexual predator, Bill Clinton as "First Black President".

I would like to thank my fellow black people for making my life as a black woman, a bundle of joy.

I can't tell you how fun it is for me when whites take the verbal knife we've placed in their hands, turn around and place it firmly my heart. Shoot, the best thing is when I walk down the street after dark, and men of all ethnicities, and ages try to solicit my company, visions of BET dancing in their heads.

I felt at the time (and still do) that Michelle introducting Barack as her baby's daddy was crass and low class. I cringed. It was tacky and uncalled for.

That doesn't, IMO, give a news channel license to do the same thing.

As other posters have stated, if it's ok to call Michelle Obama a "baby mama" in the chyron because she called Barack her baby's daddy, then it would also be ok put "C*unt" or "Trollop" in the chyron under Cindy McCain, b/c that's what McCain called his wife in public.

Come on, if they were discussing Carol McCain and Cindy McCain, they would not put "Trollop?" in the chyron under Cindy's picture and if they did, there would be severe consequences and repercussions.

The excuse that "Well Michelle Obama said it first" just doesn't fly with me because I don't think any of the news organizations would have gone there PLUS they were not talking about Michelle and Barack and the girls or the Obama family in general or how Michelle manages motherhood with the rigors of the campaign, they were talking about GOP attacks on Michelle Obama which has nothing to do with Michelle being a mom or being the mother of Barack's children.

Michelle never introduced Barack as her "baby-daddy," but as her "baby's daddy," and it was in an introduction where she was talking about all sorts of various aspects of his life. That is NOT the same as referring to somebody as a person's "baby-daddy" or "baby-mama," which is a slang term.

"My baby's daddy" is NOT the same as saying "my baby-daddy."

So this whole argument of "she said it first" is not only trying to compare an affectionate epithet or descriptor given by a spouse with a (heavily racialized) headline on a major 24-hour cable news station - the people who use that argument are depending on her having used a slang term which she never actually used.

Given that Barack and John McCain Differ on so much, no its not productive. But, if the GOP wants to make it an issue (and this story lead on all 3 cable networks) then the real problem lies with them.

The DNC hasnt touched Cindy the way the GOP has touched Michelle. Lets be honest, the only scrutiny she faced was releasing her taxes. (of which she did on a Friday facing a 3 day weekend)

The GOP has made it there attempt every 4 yrs to target the spouse of a Dem. and run with it. Its past pathetic. If the DNC went the low road one time, (ie the C word) youd have Hannity, Limbaugh, the ENTIRE OF FOX and God knows who else calling for reprimands.

Yet they can openly search for a Video that doesnt exist, Take Michelle's comments completly out of context about how she feels about this country, and specifically in Tenn. appeal to there lowest common demonimators by running ads opposite of her appearence...

Clean that GOP filth and maybe a dialogue about issues can actually take place....

One, this isn't a GOP attack. I can't even say honestly that this is a right wing attack; hell, my friends on the fringes are laughing at Obama's supporters for going to war over it (don't get me wrong, I understand why people are upset).

I guess my question then becomes, is this really productive?

And yes; the things spouses do-even if they're years in the past, apparently-are fair game. Thing is, though, Cindy didn't do this one.....

I dragged Cindy into it, b/c if the GOP plans to attack spouses, (As this story lead on each and every Cable News Outlet Last Night) then all spouses must be up for grabs. Past and Present. Hence the reason you see people commenting about John McCains First wife and how he dogged her out as well.

The defense that Malkin and Anon 11:11 use is "well shes called Barack her Baby Daddy before, so thats ok."

My logic is,if thats the case, John McCain called his current wife C-*t so that clearly must make it ok.

I get your arguement about Why blame Cindy for the errors of Fox, but as I recall, when John McCain caught fire from the media about Hagee, he made it a POINT to say, I was not a member of his church for 20 yrs nor was he my spiritual advisor, Why was that even relevant to John Mc.? Why didnt he focus his attacks on the media?

I agree with everything in your first comments. As a human being I believe everyone deserves respect. I hate when Blacks are anyone else is disrespected or stereotyped. Just wrong!!! But you can't be a college educated woman and introduce your husband as baby daddy and not get disrespected. I also remember when she did that and cringed. It took awhile for me to liker her after that. I knew what it could cause, and I thought she should have had more class. She nor her mother were baby mamas so why put yourself in that class. Just a thought. Yes it was wrong to call her that, but don't call yourself that first. I don't agree with D, but I think you all are beating him up for no real reason. He is not defending FOX News. I know I am not, but like him I want Mrs. Obama to do better and not call her husband a Baby Daddy. Fox news is wrong wrong wrong, but don't given a reason. No Fox would not do this to Mrs. McCain. What do you call very young human beings usually around two years or below or even unborn maybe "baby"?!!

The Fox news was trying to imply that black women are sexually "loose", immoral and that all Black women do is have children out of wedlock with different men.

Now we should not have to go there but there are so many problems affecting the U.S.

But since they started it here we go:

Let us not forget that John McCain divorced his 1st wife (who was still recovering from the after effects of a debilitating car crash) and married Cindy McCain (blonde and 20 years his junior) one month later... before the ink even dried on the divorce decree.

Was Cindy " dating" while McCain was married? IS that a breach of the marriage vows?

So who has the loose morals? So who has the superior character?

Do the republicans really want to start a "family values or morality" fight?
