Jack and Jill Politics: Obama Makes McCain Uncomfortable

  • ljf · 1 year ago
Obama, got into McCain's head. That is no small feat. Usually one does not see a presidential candidate doing Jedi Mind Tricks to another presidential candidate. But Obama is. He will start to play with McCain's head and you will see that in the upcoming debate.

I believe McCain will be more erratic, more McGrumpy, and coming apart at the seams. I think that the media will start to turn against him by ignoring Palin and turning the campaign into a tabloid fest ala John McCain will become Johnny McSpears. MSM need news and if McCain more irratible and controlling than they might jump the Straight Talk Express by providing their own spin of McCain ala Letterman.

I agree. The more gracious Obama is, the more in charge he looks, especially in comparison with Mr. Get Off My 12 McLawns. McCain is definitely revealing his lack of character. The more tantrums he has the better. I am sure that not only is it tactically wise, but that Obama is probably feeling a subtle but devilishly delight pleasure in his ability to infuriate McCain by his calm, youthful, dignified, commanding presence. McCain just seems like an old geezer who wants to tell war stories and complain about the neighbors.

rikyrah: The time that Mr. Obama "ASKED" LIEberman to "step into his office" while on the Senate floor, a video was made of that "PROCEEDING!" :>) :>)

I hope that someone was filming that "cordial interchange!" In fact, I'm believin' that Mr. Obama did a "CHESS MOVE" in order to evoke that RESPONSE from "McAncient!"

    He was PLAYED!! CHECK! :>)

Green Lady, that's the one time I was really agitating for Obama to get in that ass, regarding asking Lieberman to step outside. That was South Side all the way.

Anyone else notice that since then, Lieberman's been as quiet as a church mouse?
  • msmartin · 1 year ago
I agree with Greenlady. I'm sure Obama knows McCain is irked by his presence.
  • blksista · 1 year ago
Didn't he brush his shoulders once during a rally...?

    Don't mess with the kid!

McCain can't do that in a million years.

I wonder if John McCain takes any comfort from the fact that on “THE HANNITY SHOW,” Wednesday his running mate Sarah Palin answered Hannity's question about recent press coverage by saying, “Never pick a fight with somebody who buys ink by the barrel.” Funny, I heard that same quote from the character “Toby,” in a recent episode of the Bravo Channel re-run of “THE WEST WING.” We may not know what newspapers Palin reads, but apparently we can take a good guess about at least one of her favorite TV shows.

    Killing him with kindness indeed.

that is exactly what Obama is doing. LOL very deliberately I might add.

All hail the great warrior. Right? Isn't he the great brave man, the warrior of warriors? WTF? And he can't even look Obama in the eye??

How's he gonna stare Putin in the eye when he can't even look at Obama?

I was laughing last Friday when Pat Buchanan proclaimed McCain the guy you want in the White House who will look at the enemy in the eye.

Chris Matthews asked him, how's he gonna do that when he can't even look Obama in the eye?
  • CPL · 1 year ago
Okay, Town, I'm putting this out there.

McCain will find it very EASY to look Putin in the eyes, because Putin is WHITE.

    Never mind that he's Russian.

McCain can't look a brotha in the eye because of the reverse Jim Crow - where it used to be brothas who couldn't look white men in the eyes.

My father was the same height and build as McCain. And he broke out too many cans of whip-ass on white guys during Jim Crow days to count. Because he dared and often did, look white guys in their eyes, and I'm talking big, corn-fed eating white guys down in Shreveport, Louisiana during the 1940s and 50s.

McCain's problem wouldn't be with Putin. It's obvious it's with Obama because Obama's a brotha.

And Pat Buchanan is so bigoted, I knew he was drinking the night he praised Obama's acceptance speech during the DNC convention. He had to be under the influence to praise Obama like he did. He has to get drunk to praise people of ethnicity, period.

Picture this: Opening scene, Obama runs into McCain in Senate hallway-

Obama: "Hey John. How are you?"

    McCain: "How are you doing?"

Obama: "We're doing better in the polls! It looks like the tide is turning a bit for the Obama campaign. I hope we can keep up the BIG MO (chuckle).

You know Michelle and I just celebrated an anniversary. She is so humorous. She bought me some skivvies that say "Leader of the Free World." (chuckle) She is such a joker. We had a lovely, romantic evening (shows facial expression of a pleasant flashback).

And hey, this campaign schedule is grueling. I don't see how you do it! If it weren't for exercising, I couldn't maintain my energy. Let me tell you, John. I'm taking the Secret Service to the hoop tonight after I run a couple of miles. As a matter of fact, have Sarah call me. We can run together. We'll use half of her Secret Service detail and half of mine. That way, a few of the guys can get some much needed time off. Maybe you can come with...... (voice trails off when he realizes he is saying something rediculous). I sure would like to know your secret for maintaining your energy whenever you are willing to share it. Hey gotta run. We're getting ready to vote. Are you coming today? I'll see you if you make it."

Obama walks away quickly, voice trailing off, leaving McCain smoldering in the hallway with the look of "that's why I hate your black ass" on his face.

    Teacher: Teach TEACHA!! ROTFL!! :>)

    ROFLMAO at that scenario.

It reminds McCain of everything he used to be or never was:

    Physically attractive
    Physically fit and active
Good sex and loving life with the wife (and not the wife who was the COTS before she became the wife)
    Vigorous-looking
    Youthful
Intelligent and Strategic in his thinking that would rival military guys
    Courteous, Respectful and Inclusive

Yeah, all of THAT would piss off McCaint. If he looks at Obama, he sees all that and knows that America goes for youth versus experience sometimes.

He's also probably being reminded of what happened when Richard Nixon took on Jack Kennedy in the 1960 Televised debates. Kennedy came across as youthful, energetic, good-looking, intelligent and prepared. Nixon, who had just gotten up from having an appendictomy, looked shifty, haggard and slick. He refused the pancake makeup that would have covered up his five o'clock shadow and made him look as energetic as Kennedy (who really was a walking pharmaceutical mess).

It showed on camera and the camera didn't lie. Until that debate Kennedy and Nixon were tied in the polls; after that debate, the tide swung Kennedy's way (well, that and some palm greasing by his pappy, Joe).

No, I wasn't alive to remember any of it; in fact I wasn't born yet. I remembered this from history books and how my parents recalled why Nixon wasn't even an option to vote for: "He looked shysty and slick on TV, and Kennedy was better looking, plus he mentioned passing laws to give Negroes equal treatment and get rid of Jim Crow."

McCain was a young man during this time and if he remembers anything at all, he should remember Nixon's defeat, which was, in part, influenced by his appearance on TV. McCain is having flashbacks on Nixon - none of which are any good.

I'm not too sure if McTesty isn't already a walking pharmaceutical mess. Just my conjecture, but he just doesn't look well.

At any rate, I think McTesty has long been pissed at the "upstart" Obama. He came in wanting to do ethics reform, which McTesty long thought was "his" domain (and truth be told, Feingold probably felt the same--if a senator has been working on an issue, they don't want someone coming in on "their" turf. ) And that he's running against a Black man is enough to rattle him--LOSING to him is probably killing him.

I suspect Obama knows this. Obama has gotten in his head, and he can eff with him and broad daylight without looking nasty. Love it.

I'm not sure why I haven't thought about this before, especially in light of the recent call for more information about the Mummy's health records. I once worked with a man who was addicted to prescription pain killers. When he didn't have them, he was was just about impossible to deal with, and he was young. If McEvil is taking those &/or any type of steroids, that would complicate his already funky/hostile/grumpy personality. Perhaps Cindy isn't the only one who likes the pharmaceuticals.

Back in March, before the primaries ended, Michelle was asked by the New Yorker if they could handle McCain.

"We got him," she said matter-of-factly.

“Never pick a fight with somebody who buys ink by the barrel.” is an old, old saying. Some say it goes back to Ben Franklin who as a printer and publisher did indeed buy ink by the barrel.

The US Senate is much more gentile and collegial than the House. There's only 100 members of this exclusive club and if you've ever watched CSPAN you've seen how they address each other with the studied deference that's built into the rules and tradition of the place. McCain can manage that on camera most of the time but as we all know he's infamously lost his temper on a lot of occasions and shown his contempt for others, even other Republican senators.

Part of it is his Napoleon complex, the little man syndrome that he wrote about in one of his books. Always short (he's 5'9"), as a kid he thought it necessary to prove himself by fighting with the first bigger boy who "provoked" him.

But there's more to it than that and it may stem from his upbringing and training. Demonizing your opponent has long been considered necessary in the military. His father and grandfather rose to be admirals by effectively leading men in battle killing Asians. McCain killed many with his bombs.

Now I've never been to war or in the military, but many members of my family have. Killing your follow man is an unnatural act. It goes against everything society and religion teaches us. A poor but useful analogy is football. It too involves unnatural acts, lunging at opposing players to knock them down. When you're young it takes a certain amount of training to sacrifice your body (it's a painful game) before you can even begin to learn the skills required to be good at it. Military training takes these steps far beyond that by necessity.

McCain was brought up demonizing Asians. In referring to North Koreans fairly recently he called them "gooks". When called on using the slur by Asian Americans he refused to apologize citing his POW days and said they'd always be "gooks" to him.

If you're going to break the "thou shall not kill" commandment, commit what is considered murder in civilian life you have to be trained to demonize, dehumanize your opponent. From the day he was born he was indoctrinated in that culture.

Obama is that opponent now. By training McCain has to despise him in order to destroy him. It's all or nothing and anything goes. I think that's why he can't bring himself to look at Barack and is running the most dishonest campaign in US history. In his mind it's not only honorable it's the only way to treat an opponent. To him all's fair in love, war and politics.
  • CraigHickman · 1 year ago
You give him far too much credit.

The man's a nutjob. A crook. Self-obsessed beyond belief. He's practically inhuman at this point.
  • Town · 1 year ago
I'm pretty sure that McCain has not looked at Obama before when they were just mere Senators and not presidential candidates. I can pretty much guarantee McCain's little "I'm not looking at you" stunt has actually been going on since their little tiff in 2006.

Obama knows that he makes McCain uncomfortable. He knew all eyez would be on him and McCain after the vote and he know the meme of "McCain: Grumpy (racist) Cranky Old Man" is going around. What better way to reinforce that than by going over to him to get intentionally dissed?

Obama looks like the bigger man, McCain looks small and petty and people can see up close and personal that the debate didn't have anything to do with McCain's disdain for Obama.
  • enviro · 1 year ago
Couldn't agree more. I couldn't believe he was so dismissive during the debate -- just flat ass rude when he is trying to woo independents? Get a grip! Two words for you John -- "pulling away."
  • enviro · 1 year ago
How about this courtesy of my DH -- that look on McCain's face during the debate -- does anyone recognize it? Like maybe how Hillary looked the last two months of the primary campaign -- just abject horror and astonishment -- how is he doing this?!? How dare he beat me!?! Because he's JUST THAT MUCH BETTER -- that's how.
  • NMP · 1 year ago
NASTY little prick! He thinks his POW experience entitles him to anything, including lack of decency.

    ENTITLED is the word.
