Ms Martin, I like McCaskill as well but I think Hagel (yes he is a Repub) would be revolutionary and could strike well with Indies. As for the polls, I saw something similar on TPM or Kos but it only referred to PA...not the entire country. That same poll showed Edwards doing well in PA with Obama, forgive me- I do like Edwards but I think he is a weak VP candidate, dude could not even bring in NC last time.

Other VP choices

Sam Nunn of GA--will turn GA blue and respected national sec expert

Then there is Rendell, Clinton man being shopped--yes he would bring in PA but the GOP would use that vid of him praising Farakhan

Well, brushing your shoulders off is sexist.

So is the word "periodically."

If you tell Hillary to get out of the race, you are telling her to sit down in the back of the bus.

But if you tell her she can stay, you are condescending.

Obama calling the reporter "sweetie" is sexist against Hillary.

The MSNBC on-air staff are all leaders within the Democratic party. Chris Matthews said some sexist stuff, so Obama needs to be held responsible.

And let's not forget that Obama's wife is hateful, unpatriotic, ungrateful, angry and has an attitude.

But, if you say that Obama is not sexist, you are calling Ferraro and company racist and hating on them because they're white.

And that, my friends, is the lesson for the day.

I doubt we will see her on the ticket and you linked an article from the field here not too long ago that made a compelling argument against the Dream ticket.

Obama needs to use his surrogates to play up the fact that he would look weak and use her arrogance and sense of entitlement against her.

I am rooting for Obama-Hagel ticket.

I worked for Jackson County, MO when Claire McCaskill was the prosecutor for Jackson County. She was later elected Auditor for the State of MO and then Senator.

She is every bit of what she appears to be. She would be a great Veep. They would make a great pair.

She is a a very strong woman with principles. She fights the good fight.

She also promoted minorities in her office to positons of significance and I imagine she continues to bring the good people along.

There were some Hillary-like Democrats in MO who did not support their African-American counterparts and Claire didn't play the game.

Hillary could learn from her.

If Bob Barr enters the race, there will be even more of a reason for her to be McCain's runningmate.

Conservatives in the south won't vote for McCain anyway.

Clinton and her supporters are going to divide the Democratic party on gender lines now and then try to win the general election by splitting the women's vote. McCain will still win white men and Clinton's place on the ticket will make it perfectly fine for a wary Hispanic to vote for McCain. It will also make things a mess for Obama in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Florida with Bill Clinton running around reminding everyone he'll still be around.

No matter who his runningmate, Obama would HAVE to win Iowa, Virginia, Indiana, North Carolina, Mississippi, Louisiana, Missouri, Montana, Georgia, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, Colorado, at least one of the Dakotas, and pull off a major upset in Texas. Scatch that. With the Clintons on the ticket Texas is certainly out.

The fact that Clinton will be campaigning in Florida on Wednesday leads me to believe she knows exactly how to work this.

The more people she can get pissed at Obama before or during the convention, the better her argument to McCain.

Remember, the GOP convention is AFTER Denver.

Why do you think Ferraro would come out today and suggest she'll vote for McCain in the general election?

They think they're slick.

I see them.

And Obama/Gore ticket is the only one that can beat a McCain/Clinton ticket.

i was stunned to hear her quoting karl rove last night on all of the news programs. KARL FUCKING ROVE? she may as well be channeling satan. and to quote him as if he has some authority?

Hillary's really starting to become detached from reality isn't she? I mean if that's all she has to hold on to, wow. I almost feel sorry for her but she brought a lot of this on herself.

I just love Claire McCatskill.

However I agree Craig, we need to have certain people keep their seats in the senate.

Obama is the nominee at this point period. I think that with his message of new politics and change, he needs to have someone on the ticket that represents that. Clinton does not represent that. She will contradict his message.

Thank you for articulating this issue so clearly. Obama needs to win or loose on his own merit. He doesn't need HRC to add anything to the ticket, because he has already proven that he can take the republicans best punch.

All Clinton brings to the ticket is trouble to a magnatude unknown. Why do you think Rush, Hannity, and Rove are shilling for her. Because they know they got the dirt to bring that b!@#$ down. Further, if Clinto supporters can't find it in themselves to support Obama then let them support the other candidate because they wern't democrats anyway. This issue with "White working class voters" is BULLSHIT!

America is not just hungry for change in the generic sense, but change that represents real character and real integrety. Where hungry for someone with conviction. Someone that not only has substance on the issues, but has a life of substance. A candidate who speaks truth to power, and that candidate is Obama.

Hillary would have something to offer. She is smart and no doubt shrewd. And the fact is - "real Americans" (white, blue collar,) really prefer her.

BUT, the reason he shouldn't bring Hillary along is because of BILL. It is unprecedent (sp) and I dare say just too uncomfortable to have a former President in the White House as the "2nd Spouse". Former leaders should go tend to their libraries or good causes or become ambassadors -- not still lurk around the oval office always offering ' this is what I would do advice.'

I just have a hard time thinking that Bill & Hill would just steal the show -- all the time -- and keep the public distracted from the real whitehouse leadership duties.

1. The Obamaniacs have yet to accept that he may be the weakest Democratic nominee since Dukakis. Clinton would have already won if it were winner take all. And there are racial and cultural roadblock between Obama and the White House.

2. Hillary can be a better runningmate than anyone that has been mentioned.

3. 41-point beating he took in West. V indicates a seriours problem in states like Penn, OH, KY etc.

4. He needs someone to divert attention from race to something else. Clinton can do that....

thank god there is no specific date to choose running mate. obama will wait until this drumbeat has died down and then pick. if his campaign staff is any indication, his choice will be excellent. it will probably not be one that has been much pundited (think dick cheney and joe lieberman). edwards is out, he said so. hillary is out because she is mentally unstable. my choice is claire mccaskill. she has proved herself in every way and brings a ton to the table. she was one of the first to endorse. she helped him win mo. against the odds. she has been a sharp and winning surrogate on the t.v. throughout the campaign. she radiates "typical white woman" while fighting for the good guys. i guarantee the typical white women vote would fall for her.

I saw the segment where this came up and I got the idea that it was the host that was pushing this idea on Rep. Jones. Lots of cross talk and delay problems while the host was trying to push the idea. Rep Jones never really said she wanted a dream ticket and the host was "pushing" the idea

That knocks Edwards out with the lawmakers too. The two time loser is not a fresh face and he has fewer credentials than Obama. I wouldn't vote for an Obama ticket with Hillary or Edwards on it but I'm an independent so my vote is not automatically pledged to the dem nominee.
