Why hasn't Shrillary been taken to task for her 'elitist' comments made in 1992 about mothers who "stay home and bake cookies"? And if she's so religious and filled with the Holy Ghost, did she write in college that there was no use for "unthinking emotion"? Why don't these "journalists" do their JOBS!

I remember her responding to a question about how she could create new jobs when so many were lost in New York after she promised new jobs and she stated that she thought the Dems were going to win the Whitehouse.

THANK YOU. I remember that too. It bothered me at the time for various reasons -- attempted reality-creation (it was only a "promise" to be kept if the reality she wanted came to pass), weasling out of a real criticiism & not admitting she had made an actual mistake ... And now this. %$^(%*%%$^&

Also, this may be slightly off-topic, but on the Annie Oakley thing -- a call from me out into the web-o-verse -- someone please please do the satire that is just dying to be born, about Hillary and guns and shooting and snipers and ducks. I don't know exactly what it is, can't quite see it, myself. But I feel its presence just waiting to be brought to life by someone more perceptive of it than me. Please!

Hmmm...HRC will use any means to get her way. I still think she wants to run in 2012, so the scorched earth policy continues.

If by some miracle it does happen, I hope folk remember and Obama leaves the DNC and forms his own independent party.

BUT I digress and Obama will win the nomination.

HRC may run for GOV of NY to salvage her rep and political career.

The Dems have learned their lesson from 2004 and are not shying away from discussing faith and addressing issues of concern from a religious perspective. I felt that both candidates conveyed a certain fluidity in their thought process and discussed their personal beliefs with relative ease while humbly acknowledging their lack of knowledge on some of the issues.

Clinton of course was questioned about the recent "bitter" controversy and she made sure that the words "elitism" and "out of touch" were emphasized, but left it to Sen. Obama to expound on the subject. Sen. Obama stood his ground, while noting that "religion is a bulwark, a foundation for people when things aren't going well", he stated that " unfortunately what people have become bitter about is any confidence that the government is listening to them. He further noted that "nobody has done more to reach out to the church".

Obama had to answer yet another Rev. Wright question. He once again defended his former pastor, highlighting his numerous life achievements while reaffirming his commitment to his church; his answer received a long applause.

What I noticed tonight was the slow emergence of Obama the community organizer who is a devout Christian and less of the former constitutional law professor. He will need to better frame that message to connect with working class voters or the so called Reagan Democrats. Obama needs to highlight his own personal story of being raised by a white mother who took food stamps and died early of cancer and frame that versus the elitism charges. He is learning and this long primary battle is certainly helping him better shape that message.

Obama although he has not led a charmed personal life, has had a relatively easy rise to political prominence, until now.

For those who support Obama and Clinton, I'm sure it did reinforce their level of support.

If I was an undecided voter, though, I don't think that would've swung me one way or the other.

You know, I was on the fence about Harold Ford. Never really got SB's criticism of him as "the whore", but after watching him several segments now of Morning Joe, I now see who he is.

He calls himself a friend of Obama and Obama invested a lot of time in TN for him when he was running for the Senate, but he couldn't repay the favor by informing viewers that Senator Obama was a man of faith that has spent a great deal of his professional and person life in the church.

Instead, he was all too willing to allow Joe Scarborough and that annoying ass side kick of his cut down Obama.

There was a Muslim American there who asked a question of Obama.

Also, as I said in an earlier comment, while answering a question about his earlier muslim eduation, Senator Obama reminded the audience that Muslims were just like them in that they were real people trying to raise their families.

Well, she turned me off more than she usually does and that is amazing. When she said, lied that she had been filled with the holy ghost, I howled, since, I wasn't aware that she was even a Christian, or, like Bush, in name only ad, only when you need a vote from the religious zealots. Then when she shifted the Rabbi's question about Darfur to Tibet, current hot topic, I shook my head, she is beyond fake, phony and trifling and will lie or do anything for a vote.

If you really think about it Hillary Clinton is running as a Republican. She's even to right of McCain. I thought about this alot last night when I was watching the forum. Why would she criticize Gore and Kerry if she wasn't trying to destroy democracts chances in the fall.

However, Obama was quick to point out, and rightfully so that all she's doing is using republican talking points...he's finally pulled the mask off and shined a light on her bullshit.

Wake up folks!!!

The Clintons left the party a long time ago. They are not democrats and in my view never were. The party was nothing more than a vehicle for success. Niether Bill or Hillary belive in the principles of the party, and never did...but many in the party have been decieved.

Make no mistake, the Clintons intend on destroying the democratic party before they go.

I think you guys have a great blog..
As an outright obama supporter, i think i can say with ease, that the forum last night was only good for one thing..Clarity on the "bitter" issue.

Dont get me wrong, when they went into abortion, with a room full of evangelicals, i anticipated both HRC and BO to stumble a bit, but after that, it was very dry. I kept scanning, and looking, for any muslim representation and couldnt find any.

The complete discrimination Muslim Americans go through on a daily, at Airports, Shopping Malls etc. I felt shouldve been adressed.

I agree Obama gave much stronger responses than Clinton. However, I thought many of the questions from the moderators (not so much from the audience) were inappropriate, for lack of a better word. I mean "Do you think God created the world in 6 days"and "Does God want you to be President" and "Can you tell us about specific moments when you've felt the presence of the Holy Ghost" don't seem relevant to establishing their ability to be POTUS. A person's religious beliefs at that level are private. I can understand the questions on HIV/AIDS, international humanitarian support and abortion but those others were off the wall.

There was a story in the Scotsman ("Scotland on Sunday"), that suggests that "Jimmy Carter and Al Gore are being lined-up to deliver the coup de grâce to Hillary Clinton and end her campaign to become president." The accuracy of the information is not known, but they quote "a source close to Carter." If there is truth to this scenario, it would makes sense that Hilary will do anything she can to attempt to defuse the power of such a move.

someone in the comments section of that link asked why Hillary would insult Al Gore by suggesting he was defeated for being elitist. That is a really good point!

Ms. Martin,

McCain is just not comfortable talking about faith. He can't even seriously fake it like Shrub did. It would have been painful to watch, and I think he would have come off as more insincere as Hillpatine, because of being so uncomfortable, though I would trust his religious faith over Hillpatine's.
