That's not surprising. The adoption pool for white gays is limited to black or other minority children that are considered difficult to adopt. I'm not saying that she wouldn't have adopted the black kids if she had a choice, but the reality is that as a gay woman, she doesn't. Please don't read anything into that. In a perfect world, I would rather have more black families open up their homes to black children, but I'm one who thinks that adoptive parents--of any race--are what Senator Obama called his grandmother, quiet heroes.

Is it too negative to talk about John McCain's bullshit speech? Did anyone else hear his comments about "no one being able to say this is a country that blah blah blah" as "kwitcherbitchin"?

This is kind of a risky comment but -- did it strike anyone as kind of racist how they kept showing Spelman college or what not? Like, look at all those happy black people! It rubbed me the wrong way.

Can you believe that Eugene Rivers was short of Black Panther out of Philly back in the day? During the Reverend Wright saga, Joe would put him on daily to criticize Reverend Wright and Black Liberation Theology. Little do white folks know he was Reverend Wright back in the day. He actually attended Harvard for a year or two but left because he said he couldn't deal with the conformist attitude of the other black folks on campus. He had a drug habit and had a baby before he got married from what I understand. He almost lost his church in Boston over charges of a ongoing child rape at the day care center at his church. Oh, but he won't tell that. Let him tell it, Barack was supposed to know Reverend Wright's every thought and words and be held accountable, but he didn't know what was going on inside his church.

No, he won't tell that would lose him his slot on the 'Morning Joe' token rotation along with Jonathan Capehart and John Ridley.

Not to be too cheesy, but I think this election is such a great thing for all those folks who are honestly, truly afraid of an Obama presidency simply because he's black. I don't know if everyone heard that woman on NPR saying, with real fear in her voice, that she thinks an Obama win would bring "chaos." I thought lady, this will be the best thing that ever happened to you.

MSNBC just replayed a great clip of Michelle new first lady Obama on why blacks were not supporting Obama at first because they are always told "no -- wait." God bless her and him and their perserverence. How are we so lucky to have people with so much faith and intelligence and perserverence?

I think Morning Joe had him (Rev. Rivers (??)) and he was getting on my nerves then too. I have a problem with people crediting this country for our advances. I don't have a problem with crediting Whites who support/sacrifice but when we press on, time after time, whether the barrier stands or falls... the credit should be to whom it is due.

The spirit of our people... the tradition and legacy of our ancestors... Those are the people who deserve the credit and the last thing anyone, even us ourselves, should cheat us out of is the credit for never letting the barriers be an obstacle and never letting this country... this country... break our spirit.

If there's one belief... one lesson Dr. King taught and had faith in when he preached non-violence is that kind of transformative power that not only transforms us but the country in the process.

MSNBC had T.D. Jakes on early and I liked his statement even though he talked about how the "country" has progressed... Jakes said he differed from older folks who originally doubted (as I did) that the country was ready. I can't remember exactly how he said it but he went on to affirm the feeling I always had, regardless to what I thought about the country: I knew Obama was good enough to win and would if given the opportunity.
