R. Kelly Found Not Guilty

Started by baratunde aka jack turner · 10 months ago

Not sure how the jury could possibly find this verdict, but here it is:

CHICAGO (AP) — Singer R. Kelly has been found not guilty on the first 7 of 14 counts at a child pornography trial. The jury deliberated less than a day.
Kelly was charged with 14 counts of videotaping hims ... Continue reading »

  • I reject and denounce that phedophile (sp).
  • An appalling verdict.
  • Yes, very appalling. I am not happy.

R.Kelly is a pervert. America lock away your daughters!
  • I NEVER liked him..."I can fly" my ass!
  • Somewhere Reily from The Boondock is very happy this will not conflict with his next album release.

In all seriousness I'm done with men getting off just because they're artists. Him and Roman Polanski.
  • This case was doomed from the start. The victim refused to admit she was the victim and the lawyers couldn't prove it was Kelly on the tape.
  • From watching MSNBC,

They say it may have came down to a smudge on the Camera as to determining if there was a mole on his back or not. If thats the mole, I assume thats how they would have got him..

    (it was him, blackfolk know)

Evidently the girl whom the defense had said that wasnt even her on the tape. The defense in Chicago BLEW this one.

For those who followed the trial, my question is, as someone who admits to watchin this tape some 5 yrs ago, was there a way to accurately verify who the girl was, and nail down with absolute certainty her age?
  • Should I assume that all of you saw the video tape?

I saw parts of one. Didn't look like him to me, definitively anyway.
  • ^^ and it doesn't help when the other chick/star witness kept recanting.
  • You deserve an award for that last sentence, alone.
  • Well, if his victim had been a white girl, his life would be a living hell like OJ's. I have never been a fan of his, so I've never contributed to his livlihood in any way. I wish there was a way to make him pay.
  • There is plenty of ancedotal evidence that R. is a pedophile. If I were a betting man, I'd put money that he is.

But the lawyer in me knows that the State should have never filed this case.

An old tape, plus no victim testimony is the very definition of reasonable doubt. The State hoped that they could make R. look bad enough that the jury would convict basically because he seems shady as hell.

But jury's are funny things and lawyers are always shocked at how committed most are to get their jobs right.

The sad part is that by filing a case so weak, the State has done nothing but reinforce R's perception that he can get away with a whole bunch.

So if he really is a pedophile, the chances of him getting the help he needs has been reduced to zero.

Actually, if it were little BOYS, teenagers, whatever, he would not have anyone lining up for any of his products. Sexual explotation of young girls is apparently more accepted than young.

Look at it, Michael Jackson is a monster to the majority of America, they wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire. But let a rock star, R Kelly, Roman Polanski, anyone, hook up with a 13 year old, a 15 year old, and it's a ok. Even Marvin Gaye had his own young girl relationship.

I feel sick when people play R Kelly music at their wedding receptions. That is not a good way to start a marriage. Just sayin
  • I applaud the jury for finding Mr. Kelly not-guilty. Now, any chance he'll get a new album out, maybe feature Jay-Z and Coolio on a track or two??
  • Not that we didn't already know, but 'Justice' is GREEN.

We know damn well, that if he had touched just ONE little underaged White girl...

    We'd be asking " R. Kelly WHO?"

The obvious non-worth of the Black female child is front and center here.

    Don't get me started.
  • I don't know how anyone could find R. Kelly not guilty of ANY of these charges. Are they insane? He's aquitted on a technicality? Wow.

I don't want to get all racial about it, but had this been a white girl, R. Kelly's trial would have long since happened and been over with. And the verdict? Well, I'll just say that it is doubtful that it would be the one we heard today.

I mean, they had a freakin' tape! TAPE! And you still couldn't convict him? I don't know if that is a testament to the prosecution's ineptitude, the defense's talents, the jury's interpretation of "reasonable doubt" or a combination of all three. Out of curiousity, I would really like to know the rational behind the acquital.
  • I sincerely hope that other children will not be victimized.
  • This really makes me sick! If this was a white girl, he'd be six feet under by now.

What's really sad is the amount of black women that defend this predator, but vilify the victim.
  • I see it a bit differently. My problem was with the state taking it upon itself to prosecute a wealthy black man when no one had filed charges. It's the same old story where a wealthy black man is made an example of. I did not at all see it as a black female is valued less. Perhaps if she or her family had filed a complaint, I could view it that way. This will catch up with him eventually unless he is receiving treatment. That said, I do enjoy his music and I believe he is a musical genius.
  • this is just straight fucked up. he peed on a little girl, for chrissakes!! of course it was him on that videotape---there was a damn grammy award next to the bed!

these are probably the same ignorant ass jurors that let off michael jackson. i'm ashamed of my city today.
  • I did a post on this when the trial first started...as guilty as I believe this fool is, you could see the holes in the case a mile away...the prosecution's case was weak and there was no way that they were going to be able to win with what they went in there with...
  • Chica Dificil said...
I sincerely hope that other children will not be victimized.

    ----------------

Children wouldn't be victimized if parents wouldn't leave their teen girls around him. It amazes me how many parents know that Michael Jackson and R. Kelly like Pretty Young Thangs and feeling on their booties but keep leaving them around him!
  • It is being reportated that he was acquitted of ALL 14. Not just 7
  • 14? Kind of a ironic number. No?
  • The obvious non-worth of the Black female child is front and center here.

Truthfully, I think the girl was paid off, and that it was him.

I'm sure he's planning his next few conquests and that no one will bat an eye.
  • How much was the now-23-year-old girl paid to deny she was being pissed on in the tape?

Aaron McGruder predicted this on that episode of the "Boondocks" - man, did he call this one. I feel like I did when they acquitted those LA police officers for beating Rodney King, and the whole thing was caught on tape.

I guess they jury chose not to believe their "lying eyes".
  • It is only a matter of time before R. Kelly gets caught with his drawers showing because pedophiles, unless they seek counseling, do not think they're doing anything wrong. He's probably feeling he got away with something, and will try it again.

    Book it.

    lol stop it! lol

  • It took 6 years to even get a trial date! So you knew it was a railroad job from the get go. He may have been found not guilty but that doesn't mean he is INNOCENT. We know from past behavior what his present and future behavior will be. And he's not the only one, but there's a nice place reserved in hell for him and all child molesters and rapists.
  • Both R.Kelley and the alleged victim claim the tape does not depict them. Thats how this verdict was reached. Good luck getting a conviction if the only real piece of evidence you has is disavowed by both the alleged perpetrator and the alleged victim. If this wasn't R.Kelley, it probably wouldn't have even gone to trial.
  • reasonable doubt is reasonable doubt.

this 'if it were a white girl' stuff ignores the fact that the state went above and beyond to prosecute a black man in the first place. who's devalued now? would they have done this to a white man, whether or not the girl was black, white, asian, whatever?

if you all really want to make R. Kelly pay for being stupid, don't buy his products, and demand radio stations don't buy his productions -- even if your favorite artist is attached to them.

me, when alleged victims aren't the ones pushing a case, i don't care how old the alleged victim is -- i look to see what the motives are of the prosecuting side. is it really about protecting the innocent, or about something else?
