I am sorry, I did not know about Webb's "confederacy issues". Of course, this ruins Webb in my eyes.

Good thing the Obama campaign is vetting these people.

It might be nice to have a running mate with "military credentials" to neutralize Republican smears.

Unfortunately, I don't like Wesley Clark, and he's already run for President. I can't think of a good military running mate right now.

I like Hagel, but I don't know much about him. He's a Republican, and I'm not sure what his positions of various issues are. I do think that you can look at Hagel and say that he'd be ready to step in as President.

Ed Rendell may be worth a look as well...

Obama needs to take his @$$ to a White church or community event and wax paternalistic and push that personal responsibility rhetoric in the same way he tried play moral equivalence in his race speech. That Mini-Me Cosby sh*t (and his personal issues) is getting old.

QUINCY, Ill. (AP) - Senator Barack Obama visited the Illinois community of Quincy today to see flooded areas along the Mississippi River for himself.

During his stop this afternoon, the Democratic presidential candidate helped fill sandbags that are being trucked to both sides of the Mississippi River.

He says he hasn't seen this kind of devastation since he's been in public office.

Obama also vowed to push the federal and state governments to provide needed aid to the stricken areas.

Authorities expected the river at Quincy to reach a near-record level of 32 feet by Wednesday and volunteers have been feverishly stacking sandbags around several businesses and the water treatment facility.

not many remember now but there was a big flood in iowa pre sept 11 2001. bush wouldn't give fema money at first . iowa was to be punished for voting for gore. of course no one could or would say anything at the time. america was in full denial mode about it's new un elected prez.

I just wanted to acknowledge the fact that Obama is working his ass off.

I think he took Sasha's birthday off, and since then he's been all over the map, holding one-on-ones with families, visiting hospitals, attending fundraising dinners, and taking over the DNC ;-)

I am more impressed by him every day.

McCain/Lieberman? I can only wish!!..can u imagine the generational gap? two cranky old farts, lieberman will not help the GOP ticket and will LOSE CT.

McCain is waiting to see who Obama picks as VP and THAT will determine his choice. Also, polling has a lot to do with it, if Obama's numbers improve in OH, FLA and other swing states, McCain will need to someone to seal FLA or OH..so Crist(provided gay rumors dont do him in) and Pawlenty.

If McCain feels that Obama still has issues with women, Hutchinson (even though she said NO) or Fiorina)

Economy?...Romney.

All of these names are being test marketed to the base and the MSM. Polls will play a huge factor

Webb would (might) bring Obama military support because of the GI Bill. Though, I'm not sure how Obama's polling within the military.

Michelle Bernard never pretended to be anything other than what she is. I knew from the word JUMP that she was a Republican. But, there's a difference to me between being a Republican, and being a stooge. She's going to criticize Obama because she has POLICY differences with Obama, but she's NEVER been disrespectful to Obama PERSONALLY. To be blunt, she's defended Obama at times, better than a lot of DEMOCRATS during this election cycle.

It's interesting, Obama is taking control of the DNC, top to bottom, while McCain whines that he has 'no control' over what the RNC does.

I approve of what Obama is doing, because he's accepting responsibility: win or lose, it's going to be on HIS terms, which is the only way to do this.
