As I keep saying this political game is totally insane. And, to expect anyone that plays in the game can remain sane is also crazy. This is a pure game of winner takes no prisoner. Obama is not as pure and innocent as many of you want to believe. To even get into politics at this level you have to be shrewd, self-centered, extremely driven, and lack some morality. He can talk all he wants about being a christian, but don't be fool. He was bright enough to know that he needed to wear his christianity on his sleeve to avoid being branded a MUSLIM by his name. So, when people start wearing these so-called VALUE stickers (Bush included) so outwardly it makes me a little uneasy. And, before people SCREAM and Whine about this post, just check out Michelle's comment on Hillary not being able to control her household back in the early campaign. Would someone of true christian value debase another's household? Do we actually think Michelle uttered those words without the guidance of Obama? The answer is HELL NO! Michelle and Barack are shrewd individuals and not as idealistic as people want us to believe. With all that said, I plan to vote for Obama, but I am not holding out hope as if he is going to bring great change. Change only comes with a serious struggle. He and Michelle are clueless to true struggle. The majority of us under the age of 60 lack any true understanding of struggle. The majority of us benefited from the civil rights movement and now show lack of respect for those that fought the real hard fight (this even includes Obama). Obama will play the middle of the road game. That usually means providing incentives to middle class America while cuting services and opportunities for the extremely poor. Placing blame on the less fortunate while throwing opportunities to the priviledge. This game has been played so much and so often it's too easy to call. This time we may just get to see a person of a color hold the reigns. Just don't fallout when nothing truly changes in America.

I thought that it was interesting that Obama mentioned reading "A Team of Rivals". Lincoln gave cabinet positions to those that opposed him in his run for the presidency saying that they were the best qualified to run the country. Doris Kearns Godwin stated that Lincoln did this because he was very politically savy. At the time I wondered why he mentioned this book. Could this be a harbinger of things to come?
It is not about whether we would have HRC run with us---which I must admit I would not---but about what he would do and what he thinks would be best for this country; what would unite the country and win the general election; and, also, how his presidency can effectuate the changes we so desperately need.

This is what I have learned from experience even though I do not want it to be true:

When people are unaccountable to any sort of truth -- when their very foundation is lies and distortions, created reality, and the burning desire to "win" at any cost -- they soak up the energy of anything they perceive as attack, and it fuels and energizes them.

And for these people, acting from and telling the truth feels like an attack.

Hillary Clinton is an extreme example of someone like this.

I really don't understand this dynamic. I have seen it happen more than once in my life. It took me a long time to see what it was. I feel that truth has its own power. But. Not in this society, it doesn't. This is what I have learned.

But then Senator Obama has done something different to harness whatever power this system has available related to truth. I have watched him. How he acts .... it doesn't feed the beast the way that direct truth-telling seems to do. I don't understand it and I can't really do it myself, but I see it in action and I have to admit its reality and effectiveness inside the insanity of this society.

(Craig Hickman helped me see this more clearly in another thread.)

I can't stand this thing about him wanting to work with her. I can't stand it. I am horrified by her having any place anywhere near things that will affect my life or the lives of those I love and care about.

I can't stand it. But I am schooling myself on this, telling myself that maybe he knows what he is doing. Pushing on her would feed the beast. Maybe she won't know what to do with where he's coming from. Maybe he knows what he is doing.

I don't understand it, really I don't. But I can't ignore the effectiveness of his approach so far, compared with a more pushing-back kind of thing.

I guess I'll wait and see.

I think you're onto something there. I recall that icy vibe from him in the Virgin Islands.

It seems to me that some people think he's a chump, due to his restraint. Some SD's may be trying to twist his arm to take Hillary as VP in exchange for their vote. They better be careful.

More and more, I'm coming to see that Barack Obama is not one to be trifled with.

As a sort of white person (half Arab, white American mom, kinda like Barack but light skin so I pass more easily) I am pretty sick of hearing white people say they "aren't comfortable" with BArack and "need for him to reassure" them somehow that he's not some kind of scary black radical who Hates America and wants to Tear White People Down. And yet that's the rumble and the buzz.

I think that's some of what drives Hilary's die-hards, along with the "we're feminists and we need a woman president to feel good about ourselves as womyn" crowd.

I just think Obama is sticking to the message: unity, class, grace, rise above the strife.

I think he will find a way to let Hilary know how he really feels. Did you ever see that clip of him walking out to talk to reporters on his Caribbean vacation this spring? Just how he walked down the path let you know that he was Not Amused at being stalked by the press. His first few exchanges were extremely... clear. He said nothing untoward but he vibed "why the hell are you miserable rats bothering my family with your telephoto lenses? You are intruding."

But then he went right into his spiel about how they worshiped on Sunday (it was Easter I think) and relaxed etc. The words sounded easy and casual but in his eyes he was still saying - back the fuck off, I am giving you your sound bite even though you don't deserve it.

I think Obama is a true prince, a Leo, and he will make his displeasure known, but at his own time and in the manner of his choosing. Meanwhile, Hilary is still Senator of a big and powerful state so the President will need her as an ally.

This guy is not where he is because he acts like I would. He is a politician, remember, and a very good one. And we're going to need those diplomatic skills when he's leader of the Free World (if God wills, insha'allah as the Arabs would say)

Every time Obama appeals to Clinton and is so nice to her it's about getting the other 86% of the electorate. He has an end game in mind and it isn't about the Clintons. It is up to us to make sure that they get proper retribution for their actions and specifically all those CBC members who feel their seats are in jeopardy now. If the Clintons had so much power they wouldn't be so concerned for their future. They're playing hardball but they are paper tigers. It's just a game of perception. Now we need to be talking about how the Clinton better kiss ass or be blamed for aiding and abetting McCain against the entire Democratic Party.

You know from being a Christian that the point of grace is the place where the one receiving it is utterly undeserving.

Barack Obama has every right in the world to hammer her. And if he did, it would destroy his candidacy and his message of transformative politics -- from attacks to respect, from personal to issues.

He has practiced what he preaches. When he says he will find ways to reach out to enemies and find common ground, there is no more immediate illustration of that intent than his outstretched hand to Hillary Clinton.

Who appears to be the loser here? Certainly not Barack.

Be angry, be furious, but also be forgiving, because the goal here is to get this incredible man elected. He is doing all the right things to make that happen.

We thank you for your patronage, but if you don't like what we have to say, start your own blog, and I mean that without any snark quotient, either.

All of us may say things that will not sit well with everybody. In a democracy, it's expected that a person has individual chains of thought and we express them here.

I'm sorry you didn't like the post, but I've noticed no one's asked me to rescind it, either. I'm not apologizing for Obama having to damn near walk on water and the MSM is STILL NOT HAPPY WITH HIM.

He tried non-threatening, willing to work with everyone, compromised, and has been almost twisted into a pretzel trying to be everything to everyone. My post was saying he needs to remain himself and do what he has to do.

Where is the non-unity in that? Or in any of the posts? Just because we're not always singing "Kuubaayaa" because we're too busy staying on top of developments and reporting them here?

If you want group-think only, head over to DKos, but be warned if you venture to disagree with them, because what you get here is a walk in the park compared to getting flamed on DKos.

Folks, Bill Clinton is at it again. His latest is a non-sequetor in a tirade about the media being in the tank for Obama he then smears Obama. He basically calls him a chicken shit and accuses him of orchestrating the Pfleger controversy. I am NOT kidding. It is on the Huffington Post. This man is certifiable and ANY BLACK PERSON who EVER votes for HRC again is seriously disturbed. He will NOT stop playing the race card. Neither of them will.

Talking about his family roots and how he's distantly related to Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, the vice president noted that he had Cheneys on both sides of his family.

Thank you all for your comments. I am merely voicing frustration with the whole thing, y'all.

I realize he has to play nice; I just wish he'd quit talking about it and just handle his business.

No matter how nice he continues to be to Hillary, she will not reciprocate, nor will she lift a finger to help him, and that includes getting her supporters to vote for him.

Alice Huffman, I have hope for, if the majority of Clinton's supporters are reasonable as she portrayed herself to be on Saturday.

It's the bat-shyt crazy ones like Harriet Christian (I can't believe her last name is CHRISTIAN), not to mention the Mountain/Rural folk who wouldn't vote for Jesus if He were Black, that are worrying me, and I think it's a waste of Obama's energy and time to court people who are pretty much telling him to his face to stick it.

I do consider the whole picture, and when I see what Hillary CLinton does and continues to do, it's very difficult to hear the man continue to make these overtures; however, it does place him in the driver's seat when she has absolutely nothing to offer.

When you think of Obama, think Kwame.

When you think of Clinton, think Omarosa.

Kwame tried magnanimity only to have Omarosa straight up sabotage his chances.

Obama has a chance to win it all. He's got a chance to be Randal. Don't make the same mistake Kwame made.
