then I guess a guys gotta do what he has to do! There definitely should be a ceiling on the amount since she kept running up the tab expecting him
to pay it off.
Also, I need more info on how something like that goes down. When, if ever, would a contribution switch from going to her campaign as a contribution vs to her former campaign for debt. Is there an opportunity for Obama's camp to give her more than 2300 dollars?
This happened with Sen. Cantwell who had some bad investments when she was running and went into major debt; everyone else paid it for her.
If Hill wants her debts secured before she drops out (as I've read on some sites), it would take a lot of folks throwing money her way to make it happen, if there were the typical campaign contribution restrictions.
Most of her supporters have reached their limit and are now giving to Obama or the DNC or both, and most of Obama's supporters won't give her a red friggin cent (including me) after all the ish she did..
i do know that none of the money you've given already can go to her, and I think it would have to be a separate fundraising effort to pay off her debt.
hillary was mad irresponsible and nasty in her use of funds. she hired overpriced consultants who ultimately failed her. she ran divisive direct mail campaigns. she really used this money in ways that were not at all good for the party or the country.
that said, this isn't about her. it's about reaching those supporters of hers who have been polarized by this campaign. it's about demonstrating a lot of what Obama talks about, which is being willing to negotiate with the enemy. it's about getting superdelegates not just to vote for obama but actively campaign for him.
so with all that said, i'm cool with him continuing to take the high road
He CAN'T PAY OFF HER DEBT.
He can have fundraisers for her. But, I love it. 'The Little People' have already said HELL NO to this.
Maybe he can convince his ' fat cats'.
But, his ' little people' ain't having no parts of helping that woman.
In all honesty, if I had to make a Priority List:
TUBBS-JONES
JACKSON-LEE
TOWNES
MEEK
MEEKS
WATSON
I'm sad saying this, but Maxine Waters too.
There has got to be some bright and new folks. Setup a page at ACTBLUE?
But, we need to get behind these folks. Find them, promote them, help them get money.
OT: Watching Road to the White House on Tivo, and Obama found the one Black baby in South Dakota to kiss...LOL
Looks like Clinton is trying to paint the fall out from her divisive campaign tactics as a black issue. Maybe this is just bad writing but what this sentence obscures is very interesting. Here it is: "Democratic Party insiders are also discussing how to patch up Clinton's relationship with the black community and how to bring African-American Clinton supporters into the Obama fold, several top Clinton supporters said."
We are also crystal clear on that it is not only black Clinton supporters that have issues with Obama - far from it! Thanks for adding insult to injury on that one Clinton campaign. Placing responsibility for the fractures in the Dem Party resulting from your own tactics on black people. I am almost convinced they wouldn't have a thing to say if slamming us wasn't an option. And they put the problem with Clinton's own black supporters!
This is just one sentence though. Have other people noticed talk like this coming from her camp?
The Democratic Party needs to work on its own relationship with the black community. They might not feel it now, but in 10-15 years they are going to have to work for hard for the black vote and won't get the kind of automatic support they are used to. Maybe it would have happened anyway, but I think it's going to happen faster than would have otherwise.
Our vote has been taken for granted. WE let that happen. We're the younger generation who've had our elders' initial gains be subjugated, thwarted and thrown away. So we need to do our own internal dialogue to figure out what we want and strategize what our next steps should be. The old-timers don't want to pas the mantle so we're going to have to show them door. It will be done gently or with force but it must be done if we want to see beneficial changes.
It would be a different matter entirely for Obama to be forced to offer Hillary some position like Vice President or Supreme Court Justice. These are, or should be, opportunities to serve the public (all of us), not opportunities for individual self-glorification. Positions like these should be given out of love, not fear.
Compared to this, it seems to me that paying down debts isn't such a big deal. (I don't like it, but I guess that's one reason I'm not involved in politics!)
That's like Ronnie B. borrowing funds to overthrow the government, and when my attempts fail, I file bankruptcy and ask the government to cover my debts.
Some debts are worth covering. But the manner in which Clinton used her debt was dishonoring, mean, and outside the bounds of decency.
It might be politically customary to help pay your opponent's debts, but I was hoping that Barack would offer some change in that department.
When one pledges that he won't attend the convention that is the most historical in the history of all presidential conventions on the anniversary of MLK's Dream Speech, that puts him second only to Tubbs-Jones on my list. Since that doesn't put Hastings at the top of my list, a CBC member would have to call Obama the n-word on national TV to replace her as the biggest elected thorn in the CBC because intellectually I feel like Hastings has earned the top spot with his latest stunt but Stephanie holds a special place in the bottom of my bowels.
Why should the people who supported Obama with their donations, now have those donations used to help Hillary?
She should either go back to the fat cats who were supporting her expecting a return on their investment, or pay it off out of her own pocket. It didn't have to get to this point if she had just accepted the inevitable.
I would not pay HIllary Clinton's debts and I believe it would be a disservice to all the people who donated their $5s, $10s, and $20s in small increments. Senator Obama amassed a great following of "little people" and proved that we can finance a campaign. It would immediately stop my donations if the Obama campaign paid off the clinton campaign debt. She intentionally led a divisive, race-baiting campaign designed to not only destory Barack Obama but to destroy Black America.
How could an inadequate black male be solvent enough to pay off a 40 million dollar debt? Maybe Hillary can ask Harriet Christian and the Hard Working White Americans for a hookup.
Hastings IS on the list. I'm sorry I left him off.
I'll be blunt. I'd want to find challengers for ALL OF THEM. And I do mean ALL of them.
But, I thought we should focus on a handful to make a point. Hastings, with his latest STUNT..yes, he should be on the list too.

town,
I wanna kiss you.
BWA HA HA HA HA HA HA
I'm telling you right now, I'm stealing this and posting it whereever I see the lunacy of him helping to pay off her debt.
I'm not helping her.
I won't give her a stinking dime.
Hillary put herself in the gutter, and she needs to pull herself out.
JACKSON-LEE dunno--dont think so
TOWNES kevin Powell is running
