The implication that I should support Obama because he's black is absurd as is the assumption that Cathy Hughes should support him for this reason.

I select the person I'll vote for based on their positions, meaning that the candidate whose stances closely resemble mine will get my vote. It's not about popularity, who's leading in the polls, whether I think the person can win, etc. during primaries. I don't have anything against Obama personally (well, scratch that. mudslinging but that goes for most of the candidates) but I disagree with him on key issues so he will not get my vote. I'm not a Democrat. I'm an independent so even if Obama wins the primaries, he isn't necessarily going to get my vote come Nov 08. If he wins and I end up not voting for him, no, I will not feel badly about not supporting him. It's something great for those whose views mirror his and a major step for African-Americans.

What a shame that TV One didn't take an opportunity to broadcast this.

But won't it be an even greater shame if Cathy Hughes doesn't take the opportunity to be a part of something great.

It was obvious about Cathy Hughes at Tavis Smiley's SOBU that she was behind Hillary. Her negativity towards Obama was obvious back in February. So, I'm not surprised in the least.

Didn't you read my post below about Clinton trying to stack the deck at the ONLY Minority-only forum in Iowa?

I hope everyone is closely watching how Cathy Hughes conducts hersel during today's TV One Democratic Presidential Candidate Forum. It may very well be the first time in mondern history that a debate or forum is moderated by someone who has donated and tacitly endorsed one of the candidates, Sentor Clinton. Weeks before Michelle Obama incited the manufactured controversy that Black folks would "wake up" to the possibility of a Black President, Cathy Hughes, during her one-on-one interview with Senator Clinton and later joined by Charlie Rangel, IMPLORED Black folks to "wake up" because "the presidency can not afford on the job training." We don't need to debate who she was referring to. It's just sad that such an accomplished sistah, like Hughes, would employ White elitist talking points against a brotha who has done nothing wrong other than believe the he doesn't have to limit himself. As I recall, Hughes was sweet on Obama until he helped defeat Michael Steele in Maryland whom Hughes had endorsed. Something to think about.

I DO NOT KNOW if White people are going to vote for him.

I only know I WANT THE ANSWER TO THE QUESTION.

So, if that's the case, then THIS is the moment. And, if THIS is the moment, then I have to step up and work to give the man his opportunity.

I don't need a Messiah; I believe in Jesus. I honestly believe that selecting him would mean change on a number of levels.

Thanks for the run down! It's a shame this event wasn't broadcast on BET, but....well.....you know.

It still bothers me that he has to work so hard to get OUR attention and support, yet we give a free pass to others without subjecting them through the same political hazing ritual Obama is being put through.
