Toni Morrison's reference to Bil Clinton being America's "first black president" demonstrates, again, why writers of fiction should keep their political opinions to themselves if they really do not understand electoral politics. Ms. Morrison's comment, in my opinion, was appalling at the time it was made and the magnitude of its inappropriateness has only grown over time.

We need to speak truth here. Ms. Morrison's observation was a snide

put down of black men. Many of my male friends and I don't share Bill Clinton's family experiences and that includes many of our fathers and grandfathers as well. Yes, there are a large number of black men who have had similar upbringings as Bill Clinton and the effect of their raising is manifested by them engaging in the same kind of inappropriate behavior , too. Their personal family narratives and subsequent behavior do not reflect the vast totality of black family life and black male behavior in America.

Shame on Toni Morrison for saddling us with this luggage about Bill Clinton. Black men have enough weight to carry in this country.

I saw Al on this morning on the View. I fully expected him to dis Obama, but he said he was going to remain neutral for now. When asked why he said he is a Civil Rights leader and he doesn't want his civil rights work to be become part of an election fight. My spidey senses are sensing he's getting on the wagon where he is supposed to be...

I am increasingly dismayed that Al Sharpton is now popping up on any show that will have him since Obama buried Clinton "8ft under" in South Carolina. My fear is that Billary called in a favor and want Al's permed head all over the television so that the public associates him with Obama. After all of the iffy things he has said regarding Obama WTF is he doing skating about TV and radio NOW with the Super Tuesday primaries fast approaching. I don't trust him one bit in this regard.
