Black women are going to have this man's back forever. Even if he does nothing when he gets to the Oval Office, he will have accomplished this just on GP.
He posesses a finesse that many better study up on. He's a renaissance man - well rounded.
He displayed extreme control and loyalty to his plan and to a party who was afraid to hold him up (he knew the people had him though) and refused to go to war with one who was suppossed to be one of his own.
I never had any doubt that when the time came, he would handle the Republicans like they need to be handled. It was very evident every time he say he would be happy to debate McCain and you ain't seen shit yet.

I almost busted up laughing at work at your interpretation of Obama's words. Thanks for posting this entry.
I saw the interview, too. I think many were waiting for Obama to stand up for his family, as well.
can we assume that Cindy Mc Cains flat out refusal to release her tax information is fair game?
What about Cindy's past Drug abuse? That fair game as well?
BO has yet to come down on that..
Its called respect for ones family. They (the gop) lack that.
If Michelle doesn't want her words criticized, spun, "taken out of context," etc, then she needs to get out of the spotlight. Or at least get someone to tell her when she's about to throw herself under the bus.
Before the whole Rev. Wright issue broke (around the time of the "wake up and get it" statement), I was thinking that if anything would undo the Obama ascendency, it would be a series of ill-advised comments.
And since that completely false email rumor smear is circulating, Obama knows they're gearing up to go after her because nothing is sticking to him.
He's heading them off at the pass. Just as he should.
I saw him when he said it and he sat up in his chair, back erect, and looked the interviewer dead in her eyes as though she was the one who'd attacked Michelle herself.
And then they started talking about a puppy for the girls.
It was perfect.
They really want there to be irreparable damage in the party so McBush can limp to victory.
Ever since they realized they mathematically could not win, they've been spreading the meme that an Obama win is an illegitimate win:
"Obama's only where he is because he's black."
"He's only winning because of that huge black vote."
"Florida and Michigan are being disenfranchised. You can't be the nominee with only 48 states."
"He can't win the big states, so how can we nominate him?"
"He's not the nominee unless he has all 2209...wait, 2210 delegates."
"White people won't vote for him, he's unelectable."
"White women are being told to sit down in the back of the bus and shut up. Hillary supporters count, too."
"Only blacks and eggheads are voting for him, we need hard working white people to vote for us because they are the base of the party, Obama's not reflective of the base and can win the base."
Now Ferraro comes out the mouth with "Obama is sexist, I can't vote for him."
It's all part of an orchestrated campaign to delegitimize and damage him. And it's being going on since Super Tuesday, after they realized there was no way they could win the majority of the pledged delegates.
True patriotism is in loving your country despite it's faults. To accuse someone of being unpatriotic because they don't see the US as always perfect is sheer stupidity.
True patriotism is also acknowledging the good this country has done and is continuing to do; not just harping on and on about the country's faults.
And that's where I think a lot of people get left behind.
Let's be fair guys:
1. We are RIGHTFULLY demanding that McCain's wife release her tax reports.
2. Cindy was rightfully criticized for taking credit for recipes she didnt write - threw a staff member under the bus
3. Obama advocates have roundly criticized Clinton surrogates like that idiot GF.
So as long as Michelle steps out and represents him she just like Cheslea & Bill are subject to have their words twisted and used against Obama.
Now having said that - did it not feel good to see a brother stand up for his woman the way he did.
Regading Michelle's comments - agree completely with Val.
I have said this before and will say again (against popular opinion here) she needs to think carefully (or plan ahead which I am sure they do) before she speaks - the same as Obama does. NO, Michelle is NOT unpatriotic but she should be smart enough to know that these types of comments would be red-flagged and used for all it was worth. At this point it doesn't pay to make any comment for these idiots to run with - particularly on the heel of Rev. Wright. If it were not for that scandal it probably would not be such a big deal! My boss has OCD and can be a real jerk. It sure as heck doesn't mean I am going to walk in and tell him that in the morning. It doesn't mean it's not true but it's not the way you speak in the workplace. Yes, I can criticize him and defend myself as necessary but as always there is proper protocol on every level. I said this to say in politics no one should be shocked that some would take this and run with it and I HAVE BEEN SHOCKED BY A LOT THIS DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY! This is one reason I wish she had not made the statement using the choice of words that she did b/c I am tired of hearing about it. Obviously that woman did not mean she does not love this country. I do know that there are times that things don't come out right but unfortunately as Blacks we are ALWAYS held to a higher standard (and after Rev Wright- even though I don't think he was as bad as they said) so there is nothing new about this! I tried to refrain from commenting on this again but I guess I didn't try hard enough. :-)
Her clarification included a declaration of pride in her country, and yet it was ignored.
This TN GOP attack was a day late, a dollar short, and below the belt.
I guess the TN GOP is afraid of the Obama factor, just as Louisiana and Mississippi just found out.
McCain clarified his "100 years" statement, but that didn't stop the DNC from producing an outright disrespectful ad using the statement, did it?
I just listened to her comments again and no there was nothing with with them (especially in context! I guess my frustration is that I feel like we cannot afford to give the media, Republicans - including Hillary!) these type of soundbites. As soon as I heard it (the first time) I knew we were in trouble.
Craig, you are right. She did explain her remarks and they would LET IT GO! Somehow, I feel it's just the beginning and I don't know how I will take it! :-) I'm over it already!
What he does expect is that intelligent grown folk can debate on policy and merits without resulting to demonizing people with mischaracterizations that the perpetrators themselves know are false. Michelle has neither done nor said anything unpatriotic but a bunch of desperately, misguided fools who know they have no real policy or vision for the country try to take this lowly and stupid way out of admitting their own lack of substance.
Unless republicans want to start seeing bloggers and opinion writers noting Cindy's drug abuse, felonious behavior, etc., they should really try taking the high road where family members are concerned. Besides, when we start getting into the gutter, by 3 to 1 margins more republican skeletons will be found there every time.

YOU CAN SAY THAT AGAIN!!
I never heard any criticisms of her from MSM, just glowing compliments about how well she was doing on the campaign trail.
Now, I can't see Rev. Wright (or any other black preacher) giving over his pulpit to someone who's not a fellow preacher or somebody who's not doing the morning announcements.
Second, I can't see him or anyone else giving Michelle Obama or anyone else valuable air time on Sunday morning speechifying when he could be giving a sermon.
Third, if he did give Michelle a platform to speak, it would have to be during a day that is not Sunday, therefore it would have had to have been advertised.
Fourth, if Trinity did allow Michelle to make a speech, wouldn't that jeopardize their tax status? I can't see Rev. Wright letting that happen.
The press was not allowed to ask her questions although I do not agree with that.
I am referring to the students who did finally ask Chelsea about Lewinsbly and there was a "stink" about it. HRC supporters had a fit! Saying they should not put her child in this- as if Chelesea were 2 years old! To be truthful, her daddy put her and the entire world in it so I thought it was a fair question and if she did not want to answer it she should sit down!! She was asked the question at least twice and IMO was very RUDE in her reponse! She replied the first time something to the affect of ...of all the (large #) of colleges and Universites I ahve visited I don't think any one has asked me this (as if to say you are the only low life- she is very shrewd like mommy!!!) and I do not think it is any of your business! Well, I beg to differ, it was the entire country's business (as he was impeached!!!)
CROW AGENCY, Mont. - Democrat Barack Obama got a brand-new name as he courted native Americans in the West.
The presidential candidate was adopted as an honorary member of the Crow nation, and given a name that translates as "One who helps people throughout the land."
"What an enormous honor this is," said Obama, occasionally stumbling to pronounce the complex native American names.
"I'm still working on it," he said. "I was just adopted into the tribe, so I'm still working on it."
Obama has actively courted the backing of native Americans throughout the region.
"One of the things I've made a point in doing is meeting tribal leaders everywhere I go," Obama said. "The government to government relationship is going to be a top priority of my administration."
Obama's adoptive parents in the tribe are Harford and Mary Black Eagle.
"Barack Black Eagle," mused Obama. "That is a good name."
Obama said growing up in Hawaii gave him gave him a sensitivity to minority issues.
"Where I grew up there weren't a lot of black families, so I know what it feel like to be an outsider," said Obama. "Now that I'm a member of the family I won't break my commitment to my brothers and sisters."

I mentioned that the press complied.
I agree that as an adult woman who took on the role of campaigning, Chelsea should have been subjected to questions surrounding the candidate she chose to support.
The video of her statement about having had no pride in her country till recently IS and WILL REMAIN a drag on her husband's campaign.
Her senior thesis at Princeton will also become a subject of interest. I read it, and frankly, I would have expected a lot more of a Princeton senior. That's aside from the fact that she expresses disappointment over the attitudes of black Princeton grads.
If she lashes out at reporters and interviewers -- as seems likely -- she will damage his campaign and possibly end his hopes for election.
Hence, if he wants to guard her from the mudslinging of a presidential campaign, he'd better tell her to stay out of sight till November.
I stand corrected there was coverage of the question, but IMO that's not the same as a skilled reporter asking her questions about her candidate's positons.
"I mentioned that the press complied."
I was just letting you know that I didn't agree. I think if she was gonna campaign like a big girl then.... but I guess that is what Clinton priviledges will getcha! The MSM did not make a big deal about that. I guess she thought students were going be afraid to ask tough querstions. I felt bad for the first student b/c he said he was a Clinton supporter and basically thought Chelsea would answer reiterrating how tough her mother was! The question was framed to that affect and not asked in a manner to humilate her. At the very least I felt she could have said you should ask my mother- but "none of your business" was inappropiate.
Superdelegates Turned Down $1 Million Offer From Clinton Donor
YOU ARE RIGHT. I'm on your side. By no means is it the same! She couldn't even handle the students asking and she is a grown woman!
She can handle herself but it's always dope to see a partner act like a partner -- have your back!
She's repeating the math of Karl Rove.
Isn't he the guy who was secretly arming Iranian rebels during Regan's term.
Let the games begin.
Now the GOP knows they've hit a sore spot, what are the chances they'll stop. They don't care if they look like bullies, they want O to go off course, and message to deal with them. I hate when he takes their bait...I'd like to see him lay some bait himself.
I acknowledge though, that it may gain him points with women against the trumped up sexism charge. Women who already support him will like his chivalry. I don't recall any previous candidate being required to jump through so many hoops...but maybe I wasn't paying attention.
But what's he really gonna do: take on the TN GOP in the streets?
The gloves are off now.
What did he think was going to happen? Was he really looking for a fair fight?
Ain't no such thing as a fair fight.
This isn't Mr. Roger's neighborhood.
If they can make a dude who lost three limbs in 'Nam look unpatriotic, did you really think they aren't going to go after Michelle and Barack.
I thought it was fantastic. I loved how he was so serious, then Michelle kind of giggled--but he was still looking very serious. Then, he smiled. Fabulous.
Let the GOP keep coming attacking Michelle.
All Obama said is that they need to be careful.
If the GOP don't believe fat meat is greasy, let'm have at it.
For all the talk about "running a different kind of campaign," this one won't be that different.
Then again, what's a little verbal sparring to a former POW?
What makes Obama special?
I was cheering when I heard them both this morning. I was like, YEAH...HELL YEAH.
We all know that if MICHELLE had 10 million, yet alone 100 million..
And, if SHE had been caught stealing from a CHARITY in order to pay for a DRUG HABIT...
We'd be hearing about it 24/7/365.
If MICHELLE were Barack's SECOND WIFE THAT HE MET WHILE CHEATING ON WIFE NUMBER ONE..
We'd be hearing all sorts of debates on Barack's ' Character'.
We all know this....
We know the double standard.
But, it was good to hear him defend Michelle. I told y'all, long before I supported Barack, I knew I loved Michelle...LOL
-----------------------------------
ahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Yeah!
Yes, they were "hit". And they were defended. What's your point?
Let the games begin.
-----------------------------------
Oh Yeah! I saw it in his eyes on GMA & Robin Roberts saw it also, that's why she was shaking her head like--- hell yeah, Barack!
Go Barack!
"For all the talk about "running a different kind of campaign," this one won't be that different."
Seeing as how he's asked his small donors not to contribute to the 527's I think he is running a different kind of camapign, indeed.
"What did he think was going to happen? Was he really looking for a fair fight?"
Ah, we're all familiar with this one. it's the "The best way for a black man to show he is strong is by shutting up and folding". That way, you'll still be thought of as "one of the good ones".
How'd you convince brother Barack to apologize so much, so soon?
(I'm on record for saying I could not forgive him for not doing what he's done now as soon as they started this mess with Michelle Obama.)
What makes Obama special?
---------------
The more important question is "What makes Cindy McCain so special?"
They've been laying off Cindy McCain and tip toeing around her, and I know diggitydamn well if Michelle had done half the stuff Cindy did, Hannity & 'Em would be grinding Michelle down in the ground. Rev. Wright would look like a trip to the tot lot.
Yes, Teresa was hit. Michelle is being hit. Hillary was hit. Cindy ain't special and she needs to take some hits too, especially if they continue going after Michelle and especially since Cindy inserted herself into the mix by saying "I'on know 'bout you, but..."
LOL!!! It wasn't me, it was you.
And that's the thing. It's not about being "hit", it's what they're trying to "hit" with. This "unAmerican" READ: Real Blacks aren't to be trusted -AND- "Brief To Whitey"... How Dare A Nigga Ever Be So UnGrateful...
That's the sh*t that they want to "hit" with - the subtext-undertone in this.
Ms. Martin made an excellent point re: the different way Chelsea has been treated. The media (and the right) were on her side when they easily could/should called her a snot. Michelle could have never been that rude to a questioner. In fact, the whole fallout re: Rev. Wright at the NPC revolved around how he gave the middle finger to them stupid-azz questions he was asked.
Unlike Chelsea's questioner, the stuff Rev. Wright was asked never came from a SUPPORTER of Rev. Wright and we all know Michelle nor Barack could ever think they could say not only am I going to tailor the audience to my liking but never could they ever get away with setting preconditions on what questions will and won't be entertained.
White folks (racist language according to...) feel like any and every question they have, no matter how stupid, how irrelevant, how Guilt-By-Irrelevant-Association-ish must be answered.
Speaking of that (and thinking of the racist idea that Barack, a Black man, has to answer for and denounce any Black boogeyman (read: Farrakhan) on demand), I heard John McCain has had a relationship/association with John Hagee for several years, William Ayers like, from their membership or involvement with AIPAC.
Of course not. Yet she gave interviews; she publilcally campaigned for her husband during their Restoring Dignity to the White House campaign.
Yeah, some of you say that these women *ought* to be the same fair game as Michelle Obama. But you know damned well that she's not going to be ... AND you know why.
Yet you won't publically say why. And that's where I think y'all lose your credibility. You know that the media's being biased, yet you allow your party loyalty to prevent you from saying so.
Why? Do tell.
Plantsmantx,
The small donors won't have to contribute. When you have someone who can drop $25M on a whim, you don't need small donors.
---------------------
I don't think "party loyalty" has anything to do with it. We all know why Michelle is being hit and Cindy ain't. Michelle and Barack know why, John and Cindy know why, and the media knows why.
It's only the media and white folks that are pretending not to know why, just as they pretend not to understand why Barack can't capture the redneck, hardworking white people of WV, OH, PA...
We all know the truth! But Americans (white ones in particular) can't handle the truth. So anyone who gets up and puts a dent in the American Myth is "unAmerican," "unpatriotic," "racist," "angry," etc.
And if you wanna know the real deal on Michelle Obama, it is this: Michelle Obama is a dark brown, thin, attractive, well put together woman who isn't cheesing and grinning and shucking and jiving. And they don't like that.
Now, if Michelle were fat, jolly and grinning all the time like Sherri Shepherd, I doubt seriously she'd be painted as the "angry racist black woman."
The Laura Bush car accident in which her boyfriend died was repeated many times during the GWB's first campaign. That's how I learned about it.
No credible report of her having an abortion was ever released.
Meanwhile, she steered clear of controversy.
As for press bias, well, yes, it tends to favor Democrats.
Michelle will seek publicity and generate controversy. She will obtain press coverage, but undoubtedly her outspokenness will backfire again in the campaign. But it will matter far more when she strikes against McCain instead of other Democrats.
The small donors won't have to contribute. When you have someone who can drop $25M on a whim, you don't need small donors."
What are you talking about? The point is that not only is he not seeking to hide behind those outside groups that would "help" him by engaging in the worst sort of negative campaigning, he's trying to defund them so the are't able to "help" him. That is definitely different.
Very soon, those 527s-as well as other miscellaneous liberal-leaning organizations-are going to come out and start attacking McCain. Bet you won't see any calls from Obama for a civil campaign then, because the negativity will benefit him.
