Jack and Jill Politics: The Crabby McCrab Show, Starring Juan Williams

Comes as no surprise, the only blacks on FOX have no self esteem and are paid to hate themselves and other blacks. I have yet to figure out just what he stands for or why he even matters, since, he never appears anywhere except on Fixed News, pitiful, lost creature.

Sell your soul to Murdoch for a couple of coins a week.

I'll have to look for his commentary. Rhetoric is rhetoric no matter which side it comes from.

Being a professional "I'll say what you (say) you can't say becuase if you said it, those mean blacks would say you're a racist" is lucrative work. It's easy, too. All Juan had to do was type up a bit of boilerplate. He didn't have to come up with anything original at all.
  • Angela · 1 year ago
How depressing.........maybe he's just jealous. Its something to think about so he has to couch it with over the top criticism.....Michelle and Obama are young, intelligent, attractive in looks and personality, and successful. Although they worked for what they have achieved, we all know there are some who don't think they have paid their "dues." Which is flat nonsense thinking.
  • Leota2 · 1 year ago
Juan Williams has always been a self hating idiot.
He-- like all the FOX lemmings and bigots think that any black man or woman with any kind of power must speak for ALL black people and apologize for ANYTHING spoken from anyone's mouth.

When John McCain bends down and kisses every black person's ass in the states of Ohio, PA, West Virginia

and KY who his friend Hillary used racial politics against---then Juan Williams can open his mouth

    again. . . .
  • Ms.Martin · 1 year ago
He hasn't accounted for the millions of whites that support Obama.

Doesn't he know the mentality that follows Fox News isn't accepting of him at all and any white person with an ounce of since would buy his argument.

He must be a lonely man. I wonder if he has children and what they think of him.
  • Christopher Chambers · 1 year ago
This part is instructive and real: "And he has to challenge his supporters, especially his black base, to be honest about real problems at the heart of today's racial divide – including out-of-wedlock births, crime, drugs and a culture that devalues education while glorifying the gangster life."

The rest is horseshit. I am sad, not angry. Juan has to do this almost Tavis- or Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs-Whatever like dance, or is it a Fox News jig (his meal ticket)? To keep the carnival alive they must hash and rehash Wright's crap etc. so Juan has to do his part in the 24 hour newscycle.

But again, I'm sad, not pissed. Why this? Why the horseshit when there are so many other bigger, stinkier, nastier road apples still popping from BILLARY and the GOP? Obama and his campaign has faults, true (though not on this blog), but this commentary sounds like some dire admonition of sorts, as if Lewinsky or Watergate or Teapot Dome happened, or he friggin' shot Alexander Hamilton! Howl loudly, not correctly. That is the hallmark of pundit journalism.

Time to ask him in person.
  • Sepia · 1 year ago
Juan Williams is doing what his GOP massas instructed him to do: REMIND white people of the Wright controversy -- something Mr. Williams pretends to want to help Obama combat. Notice how Williams rehashes the events in the piece? He's not slick.

My thoughts to Juan Williams: There is NO way you could steal my joy this week. A brother has a shot to the white house for crying out loud. Go sit down somewhere.
  • dwhite10701 · 1 year ago
No one cares what Juan Williams says. No one. Not black people, not white people, not Fox viewers, not his pundit peers, no one. He's just a space-filler, and no one remembers a word he said within half an hour of him saying it. So it's pointless to get worked up about what he says.

    Christopher Chambers:

    1. None of those things that were mentioned are specific to the black community. In addition, the majority are not street thugs and hip hop artists. All of those in the "bling, booty and bullets" industry needs to answer as to why they have taught too many of our young people to idolize the gangsta lifestyle-not Barack Obama.

Many of those voting and supporting Obama are middle classed blacks. Those who do what Juan Williams talks about are probably not even registered therefore he is trying to insult black people. He said the black base which is offensive. Get it right!

    2. Also none of those things have to do with the "racial divide".

The use of "black pathology as a way to explain black subjugation has been going on since slavery.

    3. A lot of what was mentioned there are not exclusive to the black community. That form of thinking is what adds to the racial divide.

    4.Wright spoke the truth.

I cannot stand Juan Williams, he is extremely idiotic and self-hating. I have noticed that for a while. Many of his op-ed pieces in the Wall Street Journal is simply naieve and ignorant.

His job is to be the house negro that makes whites feel good.

Go on any racist conservative white blog and they have him quoted.

What's funny is that kneegrows like Juan Williams have made a nice little living playing the role of "we're not like THEM".

And now they're basically having seizures because one of THEM is about to become president.

    Funny.

Obama's liberal record, his limited experience and his personal associations, as well as his positions on issues, are VALID concerns. Obama will have to continue to deal with scrutiny and criticism of these issues.

    Race is not the issue.

Obama has never accused any of his critics as racist, but he certainly has tried to delegitimize some concerns by calling them 'distractions.' Just because he or his supporters see them as 'distractions' does not necessarily make it so. Voters will make that determination for themselves.

Nothing is 'off-limits' in this frenzied, sensational, scandal driven, 24/7 media culture.

Voters will take it all in, the good with the bad, on both sides of the political divide, and determine individually what is relevant or irrelevant to their voting decision.

I read Williams' editorial and thought it was clumsy and unnecessary, but not altogether untrue.
  • RhondaCoca · 1 year ago
    "his personal associations"

Why does he have to answer for his association with Dr. Jeremiah Wright? Who else has he associated with closely that really is a problem and don't say Bill Ayers and Tony Rezko, then I will know that your are being ridiculous.

I love how people have turned Wright into Public Enemy #1. That is simply outrageous.
  • Christopher Chambers · 1 year ago
Ah, the usual knee jerk "thuggery, violence, nihilism" is not just in us thing. The hip hop is not to blame thing.
I bet you're under 30, right rhondadocca? Been reading too much Sonya Sanchez lately. Ok, human beings are human beings. All communties have problems, not one thing's to blame...blah blah. That said, all that crap Juan mentions in that single part of the narrative which I find not horseshit IS REAL!!!! WAKE UP. It hits us harder and points up a basic knuckleheadism that will stymie us at every turn. Bet this: I suspect at some point Barack VERY soon will move closer to the middle on this and channel Bill Cosby. He's got the political dap to do it now, because unless he beats Michelle we got his back. Plus--it's the goddamn right thing to do!

    Cos-by Cos-by Cos-by.

I don't see Karl Rove exhorting negroes to blow each other away in Philly, or Baltimore...or that utter mess in Chicago...or here in DC. I see rappers in prison getting book deals or Zane outselling legions of zealous community poets and thoughtful literary folk such as James McBride and Martha Southgate etc. I see folks holding candlelight vigils for R Kelly .

PRESIDENT Obama's going to use the "bully pulpit" I pray to get rid of a LOT of demons.
  • RhondaCoca · 1 year ago
    Christopher-

Yes i'm under 30 which I guess explains the reason why its ok to be condescending towards me and NO I dont read Sonia Sanchez.

If your arrogance could actually understand my post, I was not stating that those things dont EXIST. I am wondering why Juan Williams feels the need to ignore the fact that many, many African Americans do not live that lifestyle. Much of Obama's support base is the black middle class. Juan williams was refering to Obama's black base. I was simply wondering why Juan Williams would feel the need to tell Barack to speak to african americans as if they were a group of bad children. He is prefering to group blacks as a monolith. Fox News is the perfect place to do this.

I guess you think that every black person is involved in a gang shooting up people. Yea, I guess that is what you are doing on your down time. I also will assume that you have 8 kids with 5 different women, snort crack and idolize C-Murda. Yea, Christopher Chambers, I do hope that Barack Obama sets you straight.

I find it to be insulting because he is putting the issue of America's long racial issues solely on blacks. Then he legitimizes it by speaking about the bad pathology of some.

He also behaves as if other groups do not have issues with teen preganancy/out of wedlock child birth, crime and gang violence. There is a lot more that I can say but I will not bother. Many of the black youth that I mentor are not fond of what they hear on the radio. It is not fair. It also has nothing to do with the context of this election.

You seem to like to attach every ounce of negativity to everyone in the black community.

You are so typically arrogant. You cannot even bring yourself down of your high horse to see what someone was actually talking about.
  • RhondaCoca · 1 year ago
" see rappers in prison getting book deals or Zane outselling legions of zealous community poets and thoughtful literary folk such as James McBride and Martha Southgate etc. I see folks holding candlelight vigils for R Kelly . "

I'm not guilty of any of that yet you feel the need to act as if it is all or even the majority of blacks.

I wonder who signs those people. Have you ever been to the A&R; department of a major record company? My eyes were not opened to certain things until I interned at Def Jam.

You claim that these things are "in us" its not in me and many blacks that I know. However its easier to just say those kinds of things. Mabye YOU are like that.
  • G.D. · 1 year ago
    Christopher-

You are pretty condscending and you make a lot of assumptions.

You probably need to take a trip to New York. The latinos have any black person beat when it comes to crime, out of wedlock marriage, "devaluing" education etc..

It kills me how people like you like to act as if ALL blacks behave a certain way. That is not cool my brotha. You seem to like to dwell on the negative and make generalizations. I have read your posts on multiple sites and you always come with the same thing.

What are you doing in the community to help with what you seem so passionate about?
  • g.d. · 1 year ago
I also would like to add that Latinos have been doing a lot to try and stop the violence. They have been speaking about out of wedlock marriage and also education amongst countless other things.

However they have pride. I never see them going on Fox News or any other network speaking about their people and making generalizations. If blacks were at the center of the whole illegal immigration mess, you will see all kinds of coons on TV begging the government to send them back.

I also am half latino and half black so you need not tell me about latinos.

  • PTCruiser · 1 year ago
I think that we need to push back hard on Juan Williams and we should direct our ire not at Fox News but at National Public Radio, which continually uses Williams as a commentator and an alleged knowledgeable party about the black electorate. Several weeks ago, for example, I complained to NPR about using Williams as an authoritative voice on the black church when he is, in point of fact, not. There are literally dozens of black theologians, historians and philosophers who are much more qualified to discuss the black church than Williams is or ever will be. I never received any response other than an acknowledgement that my email had been received.

It is a serious tactical error on our part to allow people like Williams and people like him to define the black electorate and what is the acceptable universe of universe within our community. Williams' obsession about what Obama needs to do to satisfy Williams and Williams' paymasters is a bullet aimed at the heart of the black community.

We should not fool ourselves on this issue. There is no evidence or social science survey findings showing that black folks attribute all or even most of their problems simply to racism. Williams and people like him have a vested interests in promoting this meme because it guarantees their role as paid interpreters.

In addition, and this is a personal note, if I hear Obama make one more damn apology for Rev. Wright or make a speech even moderately close to the nonsense that Williams is suggesting, I will write in Nader's name and withdraw as a volunteer and financial contributor to his campaign. Enough of this b.s.

Williams, Bob Johnson and the Clintons need to get over themselves and appreciate the fact that they can't cash loser's tickets at the winner's window.

I had intended to write "universe of discourse within the black community" not "universe of universe."

Thank You, G.D. and PT Cruiser,

    G.D.-

I agree, Latinos held one another put on a united front. They also have many of the same problems and that blacks in inner cities have. I grew up in the Bronx, they dominanted the South Bronx and the crime was tremendous. They came together to try and clean up their neighborhoods. You would not once hear them go on T.V. and talk against their people the way that Juan Williams does.

I agree with P.T. Cruiser. Juan Williams does not need to be talking on behalf of the black electorate. He obviously has issues with those that he claims he is speaking for and about. Juan Williams is obviously very naive in regards to the dynamics of discourse in the black community if he could talk "victimhood" talk.

    You said:

I'm truly puzzled. If Juan were an actual journalist who had spent 5 minutes on the 'internets', he would know that Barack has been making this point since he began running and this is why he initially attracted the attention of conservatives such as George Will, Tucker Carlson and Peggy Noonan. They were utterly surprised to find that there was a Democrat and black politician who would go into black churches and neighborhoods (SW DC) and demand that we engage in personal responsibility as a people.

Juan is a buffoon who clearly lacks any rigorous journalistic skills. Mostly he simply appears jealous of Barack.

I am very disappointed and depressed by Williams' article.

He's basically saying that because Obama is black, he has a special duty to point out black pathology or negative black behavior.

But such statements would make Obama "black America's president"... and would probably cause Williams to criticize Barack for focusing too much on "black issues"!

I agree that black Americans need an internal debate concerning their behavior and strategies for progress. But that's a real distraction for a national election campaign; the portion of America that is not black (87% of the population) will not care.

There's a time and place for Obama to be part of this discussion. But a presidential campaign is not the venue for that.
  • PTCruiser · 1 year ago
"I agree that black Americans need an internal debate concerning their behavior and strategies for progress."

There has never been a moment or a period since our arrival in this strange land that we have not discussed and debated this and other related issues. Never.

Senator Obama has no moral or ethical responsibility or right to lead black folks or this country in such a discussion. I am supporting him for president because I believe that he is far and away the best candidate and he has a civic vision that I would like to see implemented.

I am not supporting Obama to tell me what it means for me to be black or because I believe that he will provide any special guidance to black folks. We are quite capable of doing that for ourselves and his participation in this discussion would have to be as a peer, not as our president.

In any case, black people do not need to have this discussion within the context of a presidential election especially when one of the candidates is black. In truth, we do not need to have this discussion with white Americans if the issues are about our own internal affairs.

even kathleen (true blood) parker has drunk the obama coolaid. it is just krugman and juan williams who hold out. they are strong men to realise the devilry of obama. this country risks everything by taking a chance on hope and integrity. obama must apologise.

in serious rebuttal, eugene robinson points out that obama regularly does exactly what fox juan is demanding. so clearly fox juan is not listening. he is having a conversation with himself and other notables at the fox round table.

  • PTCruiser · 1 year ago
Juan Williams forgot that he was supposed to afflict the comforted and comfort the afflicted. If he criticized right-wing politicians with the same passion and cry for candor that he demands from those to the left of him, then his woofing and barking might be tolerable. There are no tests that the Obamas could pass that would satisfy someone like Juan Williams. He is beginning to sound like a crank.
  • Anonymous · 1 year ago
Jack and Jill, you all covered this territory about the brother in an earlier post. Here's the deal: Juan Williams was a longtime reporter at the Washington Post who was accused of sexual harassment before he cracked, went all Clarence Thomas on everybody and started shilling for Faux News. His history is all out there on "the internets" and on Nexis. While I certainly appreciated reading "Eyes on the Prize" and commend his efforts to mainstream civil rights history, it's safe to say he's fallen far from demonstrating the courage of those whose lives he's chronicled. We should light candles for him, really. It must be hard to look at himself in the mirror every day. Maybe that also explains why that bristle-brush mustache ain't been shaved since 1995!
  • RhondaCoca · 1 year ago
Obama took Juan Williams advice and ran with it! Either Obama was watching or one of his advisors were.

    Where is Obama's award?
