I told you all that the most insightful thing I read on Huffingtonpost in awhile was the opinion piece, right after Pennsylvania, that said that Obama had basically competed as hard as he did in Pennsylvania, because he wanted to force her into bankruptcy. I didn't actually believe it when I read it, but now, looking at it, I believe the author was correct.
She's loaning her campaign another 6 million bucks, and I don't see anymore bragging emails about what she's raised in 24 hours, do you?
I am curious as to why the Obama csmpaign hasn't released their numbers...I think they want the Clintons to release theirs first, so that they can stomp them.

My personal is that MI/FL's delegates should be seated in some way. It's one of the few things (I think there's only 2) that I agree with Clinton on.
Do you-or anyone-see a possibility for backlash against Obama in MI/FL since he's against seating those delegates?
I think it's all bull, because if the situations were reversed, the only thing we'd be hearing with regards to MI/FL is ' follow the rules'....'follow the rules'....

I also agree - a 50/50 split is the only fair option. There were many people who did not vote because they were told their vote would not count. The DNC said they would MI and FL would be seated at the convention but with some penalties.

He was referencing the Pennsylvania and North Carolina primaries and made the following distinction:
Pennsylvania was an election of people thinking about yesterday, North Carolina was sort of a future vote, that that is a vote for the future, you know a tomorrow type vote, a tomorrow type electorate.
And then Tweety got a little emotional and introspective, when he said that the colleges down there in NC had pulled that state into the future. It was very heartfelt from him, I could see that.
This is just a trick to get folks to step back and give HIllary some breathing room to do whatever she wants to do without the folks watching every move. My recommendation to Barack and the supporters would be -- watch your back.

If Barack wants to go that route, there are plenty of options. I think the best option is Obama/Pelosi, but they'd all be fine. Landreiu and Sebelius have geographic advantages working for them...
Let us all remember that this is the choice of the nominee alone. Barack won the nomination, he gets to chose the VP nominee. Period. I trust his judgment. I doubt Hillary Clinton will be on the ticket. Not impossible, but doubtful.

Bring the superdelegates over, close the deal in Oregon and then dare the DNC to do something stupid and try to take the nomination away.

I am really feeling the "let her run" vibe now that so much of the media and others are telling Barack that he will "have to pay off her debts" to include her personal loan to her campaign. I just spent over 1 hour posting to blogs regarding Hillary's need to get in line with that reparations argument. I do not want one penny of my hard earned money going to that flagrant liar. Especially when she is as we speak "stoking the racial fire" with her "hard working white working class" innuendos.
Let her continue to run. Let them pay for whatever they want to pay for -- Go Barack - prepare to fight McCain.

The math is with Obama even with MI and Florida delegates counted. It's a wrap. The only way she can get this nomination is if she gets the SD to overrule.
That's the truth, everything else is moot, especially since we have a HUGE battle coming up in the General and that, to me, is the most important focus right now.

Were is this logic in the discussions regarding why supporters won't support the other candidate. We all know why, but they won't come right out and say that we won't support Hillary because of the race game played against us and they won't support Obama because of either race or gender.

That's a little harsh.
I'm a McCain supporter; thought that was pretty obvious from most of my comments here.
I'll concede the fact that Obama is-most likely-the democratic nominee. Honestly-and I've said this before-McCain vs. Obama will be a hell of a lot more competitive that McCain vs. Clinton.
But, let's be real here: Obama is winning the race for the democratic nomination, but he hasn't won it. So HRC is well within her right to stay in the race. Hell, Ron Paul's still officially running, and McCain would have to die (along with Huckabee, Romney and others) for him to get the nomination.
Y'all are winning, yes. HRC can't catch you, yes. But you haven't won yet.

McCain told reporters Monday he was working on alternative legislation aimed at ensuring that troops do not leave the military earlier than planned to go to college.
McCain's new move comes as a blow to Webb, a freshman Democrat and former Navy secretary who had been quietly building bipartisan support for months.
Webb's GI Bill, a centerpiece of his 2006 campaign, would pay the college tuition of many military veterans who have served since the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The amount of tuition paid would not exceed the cost of the most expensive state school in a veteran's home state, in most cases.
The current Montgomery GI Bill pays only a small fraction of the cost of college today.

McCain has signed on to a different bill to modernize the GI Bill.

3 Carolinas senators pitch GI bill update GOP trio breaks from earlier bipartisan plan co-sponsored by 57 Momentum is gathering for an update to the Montgomery GI bill.
But three Carolinas senators are going against the tide with legislation they offered last week as an alternative to one that has 57 bipartisan co-sponsors.
Sens. Richard Burr, R-N.C., and Elizabeth Dole, R-N.C., and Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., are joined by Sen. John McCain of Arizona, the presumptive Republican nominee for president.
Their bill has a unique feature that would allow service members to transfer some of the educational credit they earn to other members of their family, a portion that would increase the longer they stayed in the military.
Burr said he's opposed to the bill sponsored by Sen. Jim Webb, D-Va., because it bases the amount of the benefit on the most expensive public school in the state where a military member chooses to enroll.
He said the benefit would be about $5,200 to go to school in North Carolina, based on tuition at UNC Chapel Hill, but it would be more than $10,000 to go to school in Michigan, a figure determined by an art and design program.
"Two GIs, same commitment, getting two incredibly different packages," Burr said. "I believe one of our responsibilities is to treat everyone equitably, the GIs themselves, but also the state."
My personal is that both bills are good. McCain's chosen the one he wants to support, and I don't fault him for that.
I am attempting to understand what would draw you to McCain. Don't get me wrong I think McCain is sweet and he is a great American hero but when it comes to the real issues of this country i.e. economy, housing crises, the price of gas and food. . . I don't think he can address those issues successfully. So educate me. How do you feel about McCain's economic plan and his ability to get us out of the situation we are in (i.e. trillion dollars in debt, billions of dollars spent in the war in Iraq etc.) and what do you know about his plans to address the housing crises in this country, addressing the foreclosure issue and what do you think about him pushing the gas tax holiday over the last few weeks?

Gonna give this a rush job, cause I'm sitting at work:
1. McCain-by his own admission-does not have that great of a grasp on economic issues. That's not the top thing on my list of important issues, so it's not a deal breaker for me (though it is a concern, 'less Romney's VP).
2. I don't think the gas tax holiday's smart....you're essentially robbing Peter (the nation's higways) to save Paul (the consumer) a few bucks.
3. McCain wanted to make sure that the ranks of the military weren't further depleted by an enticement to go to college. When the GI Bill was signed after WWII, there was an outfulx of people leaving the service to go to school. Fair enough; there wasn't a major conflict for a few years. Something like that can't/shouldn't happen under present circumstances.
My major issue (and this is where the eye rolling from certain posters here will begin) is electing the candidate who will keep the country safe from terrorism and jihadist thought. If you listen to most of Obama's speeches, you don't hear the words "terrorism," "extremism" or references to jihadist thought that often (if at all). To me, that speaks to a certain unawareness of an important issue.
To me, McCain's the best qualified of the three.
And, Ms. Martin, I'm all for bombing Iran back to the stone age if necessary. That's to get on your nerves. :)

Regarding making our country safe -- look at the crime rate where you currently live. Then look at it across the US. We are killing ourselves, young people (especially black people) are being locked up on the regular. How safe are we? We have more to fear from our fellow citizens than we do from folks overseas. Recognize that our hands are not clean. Some would argue that the USA are considered terrorists. Depends on your perceptions.
D -- I am happy you found this blog. I would love the opportunity to continue discussions with you because we could benefit from conversations with each other.
Also, wanting to ensure the military is not depleted is not a reason to subject our military to indentured servitude. That is like saying we want to make sure there are folks to pick the cotton and build the country so we will promise them if they work for XYX they will get 3 acres and a mule. It is wrong. The decision to serve in the military is an honorable one so we in turn should not try to "trick" them into getting what they have already earned. Right now we have disabled vets that have not received their benefits. Some of them are told they have to reimburse the military wages because they were released because they lost limbs, they did not serve the agreed upon term. So they owe them.
D -- think about it.

Obama wants to create green collar jobs, but ethanol production is raising food prices around the world.
That is the larger picture. No need to worry about terrorism, jihadism and islamic extremeism because folks will be dropping like flies this summer when they can't afford to pay for air conditioning and they pass out from the heat. God knows many won't be able to afford the ambulance trip to the hospital, and some will be turned back because they can't afford healthcare.

I didn't say it wasn't a concern, I said it wasn't MY biggest one. I hold to the thought that we can have a great economy and fix the education/health care problems ourselves as a free people....or we can fix them after we've been placed under sharia law. I prefer doing it ourselves.
Yes, people die in the hands of their fellow citizens daily. But no one group in the US-at least to my knowledge-has the destruction of our country as their sworn goal. Of course our hands aren't clean; no country's is. But if we don't stand up and defend ourselves, who's gonna do it? We've tried isolationism and "waging peace"-and got Khobar Towers, the Cole bombing, and 9/11 in return.
If you've got evidence of people who've had to reimburse the military for lost time due to combat injuries, I'd love to see it. As a veteran, that would be a huge problem for me.
We're in agreement on the gas tax holiday. The benefit there doesn't outweigh the real and potential downsides. But see s' reponse above: there's a long term solution to the oil crisis in ANWR, but the dems won't let us touch it.....

The Democrat party has been the single largest barrier to energy independence in this country. No ANWR or off-shore drilling, no new refineries, no nuclear energy.

I know about the suicide rate, and the problems at Walter Reed. I've had issues there before from my prior service, so I've known they were screwed up for a while...just didn't know how bad.

S. You said the government takes in trillions of dollars (welcome McCain supporter) but that money is being spent fighting a war we we got into on a lie. The war costs an up to $9B PER MONTH. This is money that is desperately needed in our own country. More important is all the lives lost on this war that was based on a lie. And the American people has been doing without money for the last 5 years. Look at the economy. Regarding terrorism. . . it is not about Obama or us not being aware of terrorist activity but we can't live our lives based on the FEAR of terrorist activity. Common sense tells you take care of home. But need to get past the idea that we can walk into somebody's back yard any kind of way without the expectation that they will step back at you.
Of course we should fight against terrorism. Of course we should defend our country. But a good foreign policy includes diplomacy, stepping up economic pressures,forcing political isolation,using the tools available to the commander in chief PRIOR to calling for all out war.
