    YEAH to JJP!!

Also, congrats to all the NON-Entertainment blogs in the top 10. I love that. Totally love it.

I love the scope of the ranking, however LaShawn makes me puke. Now, that made me a convenient victim until I saw the cooning of Ron Dellums, Maxine Waters et al for the Clintons, and now LaShawn doesn't look so bad.

Of course her folks are going through analogous conniptions over John McCain, but this is ridiculous.

Shoot me now...that list embodies, why I generally don't read black blogs. Celebrities. Yawn. The only blogs on the list I read regularly is Pam's House Blend and MotherJones. I hope you guys hurry up and make the list. Knock any of those shallow blogs off of it.

While I like Debra Dickerson's writings, she is NOT a blogger. She had a blog called "The Last Plantation" but abandoned it in 2007 to start writing for Mother Jones. Dickerson is more of a independent journalist who has written for SALON, SLATE and other online and print publications.

Calling her a "blogger" because she writes a few one-liners on Mother Jones is not the same thing as a blog in any sense of the word.

All - The overwhelming majority of Black blogs are not 'entertainment genre. Even the Top 25 has very few 'entertainment' blogs. My observation is that the entertainment blogs started earlier than the rest of us. Much of their success is based on consistency and length of their service.

Anon - Good point on Debra Dickerson and MojoBlog. It appears the blog is not Black-owned as it is a non-profit organization that runs it. I guess you would suggest that it be removed from the list, huh? Her blog (The Last Plantation) has been added to the BBR as a result of your comment...

Totally agree with Faboomoma. We need to step away from the boob tube and all things springing from it, which in my mind includes these gossip and celebrity blogs. I know that there is an audience for these entertainment blogs, but I've made a decision to flex my brain more and engage in critical thought and discourse. I appreciate the info on the non-entertainment blogs. I'll be checking those out, even the LaShawn Barber blog because I do want to know what all folks are thinking.

Oh yeah, just wanted to give a shout out to your blog. You all are doing an awesome job!
