Jack and Jill Politics: Well, He Wouldn’t Have Been My Endorser: Rendell Praises Farrakhan

  • RhondaCoca · 1 year ago
HaHaHa...I was just about to come here and report this to you. Hasn't Joe Liberman and Jack Kemp have the same associations?
  • Craig Hickman · 1 year ago
''America is the golden chalice on the outside, but filled with filth and abomination on the inside,'' he said. ''And here we are at a fork in the road.''

But the country ''can be healed when we participate in her healing,'' Mr. Farrakhan added. ''We have to recognize that she is sick.''

    This is patriotism.

Among Democrats, the value here is in showing the same old politics. Politicians say one thing to one audience and something else to another. The underlying truth is that every family has a nutty uncle or two....but we generally don't disown and vilify them. It's whether Americans accept Barack, Hannity, Rendel, Farahkhan, Hillary as equally part of that family.
  • RhondaCoca · 1 year ago
    Craig-

I like Minister Farrakhan. I met him when I was 7 in Harlem. My cousin took me to go see him and it was pretty inspiring. He brought me on stage and told me and the audience that the "young like me where the future".

I had written about my experience in high school and got an in school suspension.

I know of his more controversial statements but he has calmed down since those times in my opinion and he was not the first or last to make anti-semitic comments. So many people make anti-semitic comments and are accepted into the mainstream. It is because he scares White America.

There is an essay by Ismael Reed called "The Crazy Rev. Wright". In it he speaks about Rendell, Kemp and Liberman's praises for Farrakhan. It also talks about the hypocrisy of the white mainstream media.I thought it was great!!

    Who is the "nutty uncle"?
  • TruthSeeker · 1 year ago
    @ rhondacoca

    ...depends on who you ask.
  • TruthSeeker · 1 year ago
I guess it goes to who you consider to be an authentic American. Hannity is considered so, and is allowed the privilege of being critical; however, Barack, Rev. Wright, or Farahkhan are not.
  • RhondaCoca · 1 year ago
Exactly Truthseeker and that is the problem. It often falls on racial lines which is an unfortunate aspect of all parts of our society.
  • Craig Hickman · 1 year ago
James Baldwin had to be the last American Black male who was able to criticize/tell the truth about America and he was embraced by white America. For a short time, anyway.

For all the progress we've made, in many way's things have gotten much worse.

This won't be an issue, in large part, because Obama won't make it an issue.

Obama's restraint in the face of blatant hypocrisy and constant attack is both his biggest draw and greatest weakness. Hillary knows this and she's gonna exploit it for all it's worth.

By staying above the frey, Obama emboldens Hillary to raise the ante with every shameless charge she makes. She's like a child who doesn't get punished when she gets caught with her hand in the cookie jar: "No consequences??? Well, next time I'll try to steal TWO cookies!"

It's gotten to a point where Obama can't even defend himself without a Clinton surrogate calling him "negative."

At the same time, Obama can't pass gas without a Hillary surrogate accusing him of polluting the environment.

Hillary is skilled at spotting political points and she seeks to score them at any cost.

SHE WILL GO THERE! And it doesn't matter where "THERE" is. Just know that she and her husband have no shame when it comes to politics.

Obama's in too deep to change strategies now. He has placed the success of his campaign squarely in the hands of an electorate he feels is smarter than Hillary gives it credit for.

It's noble. It's needed. It's one of the reasons why I support him.

Don't get me wrong. Obama is going to win the nomination. The math doesn't lie. And he'll take the gloves off when he doesn't have to worry about Hillary's victim card anymore.

Just understand that his unwillingness to hit back will delay the process a little bit. Whereas he could have ended this thing back in March; treating Hillary with kid gloves ensures that he won't wrap up the nomination until May 6 or early June.

Hillary needs TIME . . . not votes or delegates or even wins. She needs time to see what sticks. Obama, consumed with being the gentleman, is willing to give her all the time she needs. The media, hoping for a ratings bonanza in a convention fight, is looking for any narrative to prolong this contest. And the Democratic Party, being the group of spineless career politicians it is, is too SCARED to stand up to the Clintons. . . even if doing so is for the good of the party.

Positive politics can be both a blessing and a curse.

I agree. I love James Baldwin.

There was always something heartfelt, deep, prophetic and poetic about him. However being embraced and having people understand your message is two different things. I have come to realize this. People are not interested in the truth.

    B-Serious-

I agree. I get frustrated at times but I know why he does it I guess.

They have written about it over at Politico but I know it wont hit the mainstream before the Penns. primaries. Imagine what would happen if it blew up toinght into tommorow. They would have no time to react and of course, the media would not do that to the Pennsylvania governor nor Hillary.
  • LexusOakland · 1 year ago
I get so frustrated that this story, like Hilary's "screw 'em" remarks, don't seem get much further than the blogosphere, which means those folks who aren't plugged in outside the msm, don't see it... sigh. however, I have to agree with rhondacoca... People are not interested in the truth...
  • TruthSeeker · 1 year ago
If Barack talked about it, it would be on the MSM. But, he's not like Hillary.
  • RhondaCoca · 1 year ago
This is frustrating lexusoakland, I agree. This is the governor of Pennsylvania!! They have their big primary tommorow shouldn't they know this about their governor since they people have been trying for months to tie down Obama with Farrakhan. Shouldn't Hillary be asked to denounce and reject Rendell?? Didnt she suggest that Obama do that?? Shouldn't she jump on this and practice what she preaches.

I was reading about this on AC360 blog. I hope Anderson Cooper covers this tonight. I am hoping that the late shows pick it up.

    A prime example of hypocrisy.

P.S. McCain is pandering the Alabama blacks.
  • RhondaCoca · 1 year ago
Roland Martin was talking about this on Michael Baisden so hopefully he is on later and will bring it up.
  • Craig Hickman · 1 year ago
I think that this was yet another Clinton leak. They put out the bait and the "liberal activists" bit. Me included.

Here's the thing: NO ONE is going to shun her for her association to Rendell, despite his praise for Farrakhan. That's what white privilege gets you.

But when people dig further into this, and in Philadelphia, they won't need to because they remember the violence that preceded this, read the articles posted here, there are two things that stand out:

    1) Rendell praised Farrakhan. Clinton and Russert pinned Obama into a corner to denounce and reject Farrakhan. She's trying to whittle away at Obama's Black vote in Philly.

    2) In the NY times article, the closing paragraphs tell the story the Nixon campaign is trying to put forth: Blacks and Irish Catholics fear each other so much, they kill each other. That will bolster her vote among Irish Catholics in the area. Bringing up an old wound is genius. It reminds me of Hitler's tactics.

This is all part of the kitchen sink. With a bit of nuance.

It's Hillary Rodham Nixon at her ruthless and cynical best.
  • RhondaCoca · 1 year ago
I agree Craig, she strives on manipulation and divisions.

Looks like Joe Lieberman also had Friends who were Friends with Min. Farrakhan.

He actually said he respected Farrakhan.

President Clinton thinks the system which nominated him for president is crazy and the Republican primary system is better because it's more like the electoral college. I guess he forgot that the winner-take-all systems disenfranchise a whole slew of voters in almost every state.

ABC News' Eloise Harper reports: Former President Bill Clinton, speaking to reporters after his wife’s event in Pittsburgh, PA Monday, said that under the republican primary system –- his wife would be ahead by hundreds of delegates.

"I did not actually get the delegates necessary to have a first power of the nomination under the crazy system the democrats have," Clinton said. "If we were under the republican system which is more like the electoral college, she would have a 300 delegate lead ...It's an eternity 'til the general election, an eternity."

    Bill bashes Democrats

It looks more and more likely the Nixons are setting themselves up to run with John McCain, destroying Obama and the Democratic party as much as possible before the primary season ends.

I had mentioned that above, Jack Kemp (R) also. Thanx for the video.

Both Liberman and Rendell are Jewish.

A commenter on the Obama website said they had called MSNBC and was told they have known about this tape all day and then the commenter got caught off when he asked why it wasn't being reported.

I saw this matter commented on the Philadelphia Inquirer blog also.

Craig, why would this be a Clinton leak if it can damage her?
  • Craig Hickman · 1 year ago
Because Nixon doesn't care about being damaged.

She only cares about stopping Obama.

    Whatever it takes.

Know that she's doing robo-calls that lie about Obama's gun control ideas and repeating the "I don't want her punished by a baby."

I don't know who listens to robo-calls in this day and age, but still...

An Obama supporter said Obama was doing better in Allentown then people would expect. Scranton, too. (That's why Hillary went back there today...)

I wonder if the cell phones and laptops stolen from Obama's Allentown headquarters have anything to do with those robo-calls.

why does she hardly ever refer to him by name? its always "my opponent" or "some people"
  • TruthSeeker · 1 year ago
She doesn't refer to him by name to dehumanize him. Same reason she wouldn't publicly congratulate him on his wins. All this gives her audience permission to do the same.

Jack Kingsston referred to Obama as "the guy" and Michelle as "the wife" on a Fox interview. It's the Republican playbook.

The Democratic party is playing with fire. Each time there's rumbling about putting an end to the race, Clinton surrogates come out and start the fast talking. They say "WE" have a long way to go for all votes to count...they lull democrats into a false sense of security...until the next attack. Democrats better figure out a strategic way to save the party, because Hillary has no boundaries.
  • B-Serious · 1 year ago

    @amy,

It's probably standard campaigning 101 - Don't give the opponent any free press whatsoever; keep the focus on you.

Although, I personally think it speaks of her disrespectful, condescending and dismissive attitude towards Obama, his supporters and everything that he's achieved and stands for.

I honestly think she still feels like she's the frontrunner. . . like this is all some phase that the country will grow out of.

MSNBC is talking about the numbers of crowds in Philly for Obama.
  • GoldenAh · 1 year ago
WSJ has an interesting article on Obama.

    --

Billary has gone from inevitable to kitchen sink desperado. She was supposed to win this easily, even the Repubs were counting on it. She's the one with name recognition, and formerly 20+ point lead. Her kitchen sink tactics only increase her negatives.

I do believe she will take her fight to the convention. I believe she will support (or is supporting) McCain: that's the message to her supporters.

She's a bitter one. I can't see Billary supporting Obama in the GE.

    Craig,

I was just coming here to post about Bubba's comments disparaging the Democrats system and praising the GOP's.

    This is possible.

I agree with you. She has disrespected him...she's pissed that this 'Uppity Negro' is challenging and beating her.

I honestly think she still feels like she's the frontrunner. . . like this is all some phase that the country will grow out of.

I know...she cracks me up...she IS that delusional. She's going to save the voters from themselves.

Saw the Rendell remarks. He's a piece of work.

I love how every Republican pundit is piling on the morning networks to promote Hillary and raise questions about Obama.

It's so blatant I wonder if people get it and vote against it.
